Just don’t, trust me. Read the reviews below. Take your money elsewhere. These are the worse people I am telling you.

1. Lakireddy Balireddy: Sex trafficker landlords.
2. They straight up will lie to you contravening local rent laws, so there’s that.
3. They don’t maintain their properties at alllll. And you still have to pay market rate! There’s no heat in the apartment, the window is shattered, 60% of the light fixtures don’t work, and the plumbing is subpar.
I mean if you have to rent from Everest, it’s not the end of the world. But it sucks that you have to pay for this shit.

Great location, competitive price, nice apartment, fucking asshole building manager.

— Insisted I move out early despite paying full month rent because new tenant wanted to move in early.
— Took my key early and wouldn’t return it.
— Lied that he needed my key because they had to clean the apartment and they didn’t have a key. I KNOW THEY HAVE A FUCKING KEY BECAUSE THEY HAD TO OPEN MY APARTMENT TO SHOW IT TO THE NEW PROSPECTIVE TENANTS WHEN I WASN’T THERE.

Please avoid this place at all costs possible. They are terrible property managers who take advantage of their residents and could care less about their residents’ experience.
1. My on site manager is the dumbest, most incompetent human being I have ever come into contact with; when you cannot speak proper English, cannot keep track of tenants’ concerns or cannot follow up on a simple phone call then you should not be a property manager.
2. The quality of the building is SHIT. Oven did not work the entire time I was living there, kitchen was a literal whole in the wall, apartment was filthy and dirty when I moved in (absolutely disgusting mold, staining, etc. all over the bathroom and fixtures), windows do not open properly, etc., etc., etc. I could go on and on about how disgusting this place is.
3. Ridiculous move-​in/​move-​out procedures. I filled out a move-​in form stating exactly what the problems were with the apartment when I moved in, and when I moved out they were trying to charge me for the filthy shit that was already there to begin with! I pointed it out on the exact move-​in form and the lady had nothing to say to me. Also, make sure to get the security deposit deductions IN WRITING. I had the lady who did the walk-​out with me state exactly how much she was charging me for because I know what scumbags they all are at Everest Properties.

To be a honest tenant, this property management and the apartment I rent on 2163 Virginia ST are the worst choices that I made during my educational journey.
First, the property neglects tenants’ requests about the property maintenance. For example, my room’s cannot be locked since the very first day I moved in. After 7 times fixing requests, there still no one comes to fix the door. Now I’m ready to move out and leave the door unfixed.
Second, I never have a decent sleep since I move to the apartment on 2163 Virginia ST. The reason is the person, who claims to be the owner of my apartment, lives upstairs and can’t stop moaning at night and dancing with extremely loud Indian music during daytime. I have warned him many times but he keeps making excuses. During night times, he will play movies with heavy bass sounds that vibrates my room, and I can hear every single detail of the movie just like watching together with him. When he sleeps, he snores and moans. The moaning sounds like orgasm and snoring sounds like what you hear in a slaughtering house. Finally, I am glad that I can finally move out of this place.
Finally, we just found out that the owner was previously charged with rapping… well, I was not surprised.

Short version: these are godless criminal scum undeserving of your business and/​or life.
Long version: Back in 2009, when we moved out of 2525 Benvenue and were checking out, we were charged a cleanup fee for «carpet damages». So the day we were leaving this Indian guy came to presumably vacuum, steam clean, and maybe do some repair work — which, he did.
Here’s the kicker: that SAME DAY, I went to the garage to pick up my car to drop off the garage remote; guess what I saw? I see a different Indian dude moving NEW carpet up the stairs. Huh. Let’s go check it out! Lo and behold! They were replacing the carpet in our unit that they cleaned a few hours before!!! Wow. Hope there’s a special place for you in Hell.

I would give this place negative 1 billion stars if I could. 3 words can sum them up: Scandalous, sketchy, evil!
We found a lot of mold in our apt and called management. The owner (guy who went to jail for trafficking little girls. Yes beware, he is out and about. Gives me chills just thinking abt him in our apt) and his little helper came. He used his finger to swipe up some mold from the kitchen floor and sniffed it. Okay detective scooby doo… Might as well lick it too. It was clearly mold. We showed him where the rest of the mold was and he said «there’s mold because you guys have too much stuff.» WTF? So everest properties expect their tenants to have nothing in their apts? Oh and to put a cherry on top of all this, 2 of my roomates developed asthma during our 2.5 yrs there.
My roommate took the opportunity to tell him she requested for management to fix her loose window since the day we moved in and he said they didn’t have any record of her request. Really? All 5 of her requests disappeared? Right…
Before we left for winter break our heater was on (flame still visible but turned to 0). When we returned, my roomate’s dad was trying to crank up the heat but it just wouldn’t warm up. After checking the heater, he noticed it was switched off. So… Management went into our apt while we were away without our permission. WTF???
The employees at the office are rude and like to give ppl hard times too.
True story. Avoid them like the plague.

I’ve lived at an apartment managed by Everest Properties for the past 2 years. I’ve had to move twice. Both times because of mold. The properties are pretty expensive but are only above-​average, when you take into account the market.
The owner of my building was super awesome and worked with my roommate and me, when we needed to opt out of our lease.
This rating is solely for the receptionist. She is god-​awful. Ridiculously loud, impatient, and disrespectful. The model of what any receptionist should aim what not to be.
After working out a deal with the owner, in which my roommate and I would get our security deposits back, the only thing I had to do was call Everest and tell them which address we wanted our check sent to. I told her I the call was regarding security deposits. She said for what building? I told her. She put me on hold for 2 minutes. Then, she asked me what the call was about for a second time. Though puzzled, I answered the same two questions again. She then angrily told me that we wouldn’t be getting our security deposits back and that I should call the owner. I asked to speak to the person managing our property, as she was the receptionist. She said that she «didn’t know how to redirect my call», since there was no way to get my deposit back.
Then I told her that I had already talked to the owner. Her tone instantly changed, she took my address and told me name of the person managing my building.
tl;dr: receptionist is terrible. be prepared to deal with a pain of a human being.
EDIT: protips: if you do decide to live here, ask for a rent adjustment every year. they won’t do it, unless you ask
protip2: if you are moved for somethign like mold, fleas, etc., ask for a form of compensation like free rent for a few months.

2. The facilities. As I was writing a paper due the next day, I hear a burst and a bunch of WTFs coming from my roommates out in the living room. I come out and find that a pipe has bursted from our sink and water is quickly flooding our kitchen, living room (thankfully, wood floors) and carpeted hallway; and our neighbors downstairs are having a bit of a drizzle as well. Even though they came by to fix it and whatnot, I just dont appreciate the fact that it was handled as if it never happened, it would be nice to have a note saying a little something about the situation.
And a bunch of crap like the windows, fridge and sink was all messed up.
3. Security Deposit. The Roommates and I decided that we’d clean up the place up ourselves so we wouldnt have to pay the cleaning fee. After we were done, we even had the apartment manager come by to check if everything was good. And AT THE TIME, everything was all good and clean. And a month later, we we receive our security deposit with a cleaning fee on it! Called in. Even spoke with the exact manager who had okayed our clean up. And all there was to say was «It was my fault, I’m sorry, I had overlooked it.» Really though?! And that’s my fault?! Thanks.
Honestly, unless you’re super desperate and there is no where else to live. Just do your research! Good luck.

Maybe it’s because I’ve heard crazy stories, but yeah Everest properties is definitely sketchy and I don’t think I would ever rent from them again.
In most part, living was okay, except they never put up our mirror until after the Fall semester. Additionally, getting our keys was a huge hassel since they didn’t tell us we needed to meet with the apartment manager to retrieve them. Ugh.
Yeah. Just no. Don’t do it kids.

I was touring a house (before of I found out about the Lakireddy scandals, of course) with one of the property reps and couldn’t help but get a bad feeling from the whole experience.
During the time I was with him, a student called (this was on speakerphone for some reason), obviously sick, and asked to have her building’s downstairs dryer fixed, after calling several times in the past. The property rep just jabbered something about calling his uncle to fix it and said it would be done that night, then hung up. The girl who called was obviously very fed up and said something to the extent of «that’s what you said yesterday,» and I got the impression these people really weren’t serious about their tenants.
Good thing I signed on with North Berkeley — way more professional.

I have dealt with a number of property managers in the last several years and have never been as incredibly frustrated with my service as I have been with Everest. I say this even though I have lived exclusively in university towns (Austin, Cambridge, Berkeley) and therefore rented from companies who can afford to render low quality service because the majority of their clientele are students.
As I underwent the process of signing my lease, I had a number of basic questions for the people at Everest. However, every time I called them, they acted as if my questions were stupid or irrelevant. I was given misinformation on a number of occasions, and it took me way more time than usual to complete the leasing process. As an example, I never received confirmation that my deposit check had been received and was quoted varying amounts w/​r/​t the amount I was expected to pay.
In my case, the only saving grace is that my building is managed by a wonderful couple who live one floor below me and collect the building’s rent checks so we do not have to deal with Everest again after signing the lease.

Sooooo my story with Everest begins on Craiglist where I found a very reasonably priced apartment that was a block and a half away from campus. I made an appointment to go meet with a guy (last name Lakireddy) that would show me different studios and one bedrooms in this building (2020 Bancroft).
My boyfriend and I met with him and he showed us a nice studio and a HUGE one bedroom on the second floor in the corner. He said they were both in our price range and that parking was between $ 50 – 75.
After we filled out the application for the huge one bedroom, I called Everest to double check some numbers and they said that the one that he had showed me was not $ 1095 like i was told, but $ 1300. AND that parking was not $ 50 – 75, but $ 100 a month. This pissed me off.
SO, I had to drive the 65 miles back to Berkeley the next weekend to look at apartments that were REALLY in our price range. We ended up finding one and filled out all the paper work and had an appointment to sign the lease on a Monday.

I Unilocaled Everest just to see what people had to say and found out about the terrible maintenance complaints and (of course) the whole sex slave thing. I figured, well, Everest owns a bunch of diff buildings, what are the chances that any of this has to do with ours and plus, it was 10 years ago. Then, I read one of the articles that someone posted and there was a part that said that witnesses saw the girl being pulled out of 2020 BANCROFT!!! Crap. She died in our building. FMLLLLLL!!!
Side note: When we were being shown one of the apartments, I saw a box on the wall and asked the guy what it was and he said it was the carbon monoxide detector and I said, «Oh, that’s a good idea!» (Not knowing it’s because a freaking girl had died there of carbon monoxide poisoning!)
So, we were supposed sign the lease 2 days after I read this. I made appointments to see 4 other buildings before our appointment and we ended up finding one not owned by Everest that is a little further away from campus, but the rent is cheaper, the apartment is nicer and the property manager is suuuuper nice (unlike the women at Everest who are, seriously, the worst people I have ever worked with in my life).
Conclusion: I would never give my money to people like this (if you read the other reviews, you’ll see that people were writing their checks directly to him, not to the company… skettttch). There are other buildings that are nicer, have nicer people and are in better areas for cheaper.
FYI: They also go by Reddy Properties and Raj Properties and this whole story was turned into an episode of Law and Order (with changed names and diff city).

During the first day of moving in till about 3 months of living there, I became an all you can eat buffet for some not so friendly creatures.
Fleas.
Had to evacuate my apartment twice (3 days each time) to gas those suckers out. Maintenance was SO slow. So I collected a few of those suckers (because there were THAT many) in a plastic bag and walked them over to management.
Never again.
