Complete Tree Care

If you want to have excellent tree work done at a very fair price, this company is for you. Sadly, we had to remove a coastal oak from our property. Matt’s team came and did a masterful job. We were in awe of their skill (took videos)
and their ability to remove the tree with no damage to the surrounding area and great clean up. At the same time we had a smaller tree trimmed with many «instructions» to– clear the area in front of solar panels, leave enough canopy to serve as the umbrella for our table on the balcony, increase the view from the bedroom, etc. A great job. Highly recommend.

Matt and Complete Tree Care are beyond awesome. On Matt’s first visit he ‘read’ our 100ft Redwood, telling me extemporaneously how many times it’s been trimmed and when, all of it exactly correct. His estimate was much less than the last thinning of the tree plus he removed some new growth at the bottom and the work was more thorough and the tree more beautiful than ever before. And everything perfectly cleaned up when they were done.
I can’t recommend Matt and his work highly enough, a great guy who does great work for great price. I wish I could give him more stars.

Matt Bowman has taken care of trees at my house over the years. He continues to provide excellent service. The trees look great and were obviously trimmed with knowledge and care. His crew is clearly able to follow his directions perfectly. They are efficient, on time and neat.

I asked Matt to take out a huge ivy in my yard, and stump grind, but he told me he didn’t stump grind, which isn’t unusual for a tree service. He said, ‘What you do with ivy is dig it out. We’re going to show up with picks. Then you apply herbicide.’ The morning of the job we went over it again and he clearly said the same thing — ‘herbicide and picks.’
The two guys then worked from 9:30a to noon and left without digging, applying herbicide, or telling me they were leaving — I just happened to see them get in their truck, so checked the site and called Matt.
Matt then told me the guys had told him I did not want the digging. At this I was incredulous. I asked him if it had occurred to him how nonsensical this was — why would I ever do such a thing, especially without calling him. And why hadn’t he called me? He then told me that one of them had been his ‘trusted employee for ten years.’ OK Matt — but they lied to you and abandoned the job, what are you going to do?
The next day they came to do the digging. I was glad things were getting back to normal. Then, weirdly, Matt told me he’d ‘never promised the digging in the first place’. But Matt — you told me yesterday plain as day that your men had left solely because I ‘cancelled the digging’.’ Do you think you might want to choose one story over another before proceeding?
They did take out about ²⁄₃ of the roots, leaving a huge tangled mass of them under the path leading to the ivy, but hey — I have a strong back and finished up the job.

His crew is fabulous. We will be forever grateful for their attending to us in our time of need during the recent storms. We had two Bay Laurel’s fall in the recent storms, one threatening our living room. Matthew and his crew came to us in an emergency, working in a horrendous storm to keep us safe. We will be forever grateful.

We could not have had a better experience with Matt and his crew. They did everything from removing an enormous Aleppo pine to trimming wisteria, They were efficient, courteous, did esthetic and tasteful work, and left the place cleaner than they found it! Prices are fair and Matt is honest, down-​to-​earth, experienced and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.

I would totally recommend Matt Bowman and his crew. They are fast, efficient, and reasonable. They got rid of an old dead yew tree in front of my house and also removed an old stump. I’ve used him in the past and will continue to do so. They leave the yard in good shape when they leave.

Big winds knocked down a huge cedar tree in our small backyard. Matt was a true hero for us, as he fit our emergency in (even though he was completely busy with many other fallen trees in the area). He was very nice, calm and professional. His crew arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently — and the price was extremely fair. They even removed another big tree that was making me nervous. I highly recommend Complete Tree Care!

Matt and his crew took out a gigantic dying locust tree in my backyard and substantially trimmed back an acacia. His people are fast and efficient — they completed this mammoth job in less than a day and did it without incident. He came highly recommended to me by a family friend and I can see why. Thanks to his people, the yard was cleaner after they left than it was before they arrived — truly professional work.

Matt is great! He and his crew have done a ton of work on our backyard, including removing two huge trees (that were dying) and a large, overgrown hedge. Every year he now comes and trims our trees before winter and does a great job. He is honest, reliable and just really nice and easy to work with. At the last tree trimming, one of the branches went through a window as it was being cut (it was growing very close to the window) and he immediately called me, showed me the damage, cleaned it up and put in some temporary board, and then had it replaced asap.
I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Another wonderful job trimming our massive cypress tree and removing three pine trees. Eight guys, one day, and they left the backyard neater than when they arrived. Matt is also a very knowledgeable arborist who is accommodating and flexible. I’d recommend these guys to anybody.

Matt did an amazing job taking down my four huge black acacia trees! My backyard was like a forest before (the previous owner didn’t take care of the house AT ALL) — the black acacia trees were threatening to fall onto my roof, my neighbor’s roof, and my poor little suffocating Oak tree. We got six quotes since this is a big job, and Matt came in with a very reasonable one provided all the tasks he proposed to do. Matt even agreed to remove the black acacia tree stump on our sloped yard, which some arborists said that they can only poison the stump (I am assuming it’s difficult to get the stump remover on the slope). Matt and his crew are honest, professional, and knowledgable, and I would recommend them to anyone!

Matt and his team did an A+ job removing our 80-​foot-​tall Deodar Cedar. His team of five workers removed the entire thing in a day. They showed up on time, removed the tree without damaging any of the property, cut and split the wood so that we could save some of it as firewood, and cleaned the neighbors’ yards of all the saw dust. I was very impressed, and recommend him highly!

Matt did a great job cleaning up my 120 ft tall Western Cedar. I had 2 dangling branches which were threatening my fence and cars parked on the street he did them an still managed to clean up the tree to make holes for the winter gales. No fallen branches since then and the tree looks great.
I recommend Complete Tree Care to all my friends — even real friends.

Sadly, I had one very dead and one very sick tree on my property. Matt came over, looked at my trees, and suggested that even with heroic measures, I probably would lose the ailing Birch anyway. He gave me a great bid on removing both trees and grinding one stump and was amenable when I asked that the stump be ground deep enough to allow for planting a replacement tree. His crew showed up right on time, introduced themselves, and got to work. They had the trees felled, chipped, loaded, and the site cleaned up in a remarkably short time. Surrounding bushes and plantings as well as the two houses on either side of the work site were safely protected while they worked, and if you didn’t know that there had been a couple of trees just hours earlier, you’d never suspect it by the time they drove away.
Professional, prompt, affordable, and accurate. I hated having to remove trees, but couldn’t be happier with the outcome and would not hesitate to use Complete Tree Care again. Thanks, Matt.

Professional. That is the best description of Complete Tree Care. The trees of the East Bay have a friend in Matt Bowman and his crew. Matt knows exactly what is needed and is skilled at doing it on time and under budget. Matt and Compete Tree Care have worked on my property for over twenty years. Right when I met Matt, I got a good feeling. I had a sense – this guy
is trustworthy, and in this work for the right reasons. He came on
time, to give me an estimate of my work. He told me the right time in
the year to prune our trees, and gave the the best priced estimate I
received.
We had a huge job in the back including taking down large acacia
trees, pruning plum trees, and picking up loads of pulled ivy from our
deck. Matt’s crew came in and took care of everything in a day. Matt
also organized with the Oakland Zoo to pick up the Acacia tree
branches to feed to the elephants! It was awesome to see the Oakland
Zoo get four truck fulls of Acacia to give to hungry elephants!
All my neighbors are using Matt’s service now too, since they see what
a stellar job he does.
