Dr Kaye has been a breeze to work with and his office staff pleasant and efficient. He has been thoughtful and responsive to my mothers wishes and needs (severe RA). He isn’t chatty or pampering but he is pleasant, efficient and kind.

A very nice guy. However, once he decides what he thinks is your diagnosis, that’s it. He went off of one test result and the answers to some of his questions. Most people know that autoimmune disorders are very hard to diagnose. You need more info and more tests. I’ve gathered a lot of information from other people who have autoimmune disorders and from scientific journals. The test result he used to diagnose me usually prompts other tests to be performed. I’m going to start seeing another doctor and hope they will listen and do what is necessary to properly diagnose me before prescribing medicine.
But again, he is a very nice guy who I think really cares about his patients. I think he just may need to work on his diagnosis process. I appreciate the fact that he was even willing to prescribe meds when previous doctors kept telling me there was nothing wrong until I finally convinced someone to run a test.
He just wasn’t the right fit for my needs, but he may be the right fit for someone else.

Saw Dr. Kaye recently, who gave a cursory glance at my test numbers for a serious, incurable and rare autoimmune disease –and hey, looked fine to him! I mean, he was reading them entirely incorrectly, they were not titers … But I get the idea if you don’t tax his brain or make him uncomfortable, things go fine. If that’s what you want in a doctor, Brian’s your man. Me, I went home.
Maybe he’s been doing this too long? Maybe working in the Sutter Health factory has given him factory-​mind? I kept picturing the robot assembly line in Sleepers, Woody Allen shoving a light bulb in his mouth and shuffling along with the rest.
Whatever, it’s inexcusable and a real risk to the patient. Proceed with caution.

I have been seeing Dr. Kaye since 2008. He and his staff are wonderful. Dr. Kaye is very well informed and he pays attention to any concerns that I may have. He is always available via phone and email and replies to my concerns in a timely fashion. I suffered constant pain under another physician’s care for over 4 years, and Dr. Kaye had my rheumatoid arthritis under control within 3 months. Yes, I am grateful and can’t compliment Dr. Kaye and his staff enough.

I’m a bit surprised by the negative reviews and felt compelled to write a review after my first experience with Dr. Kaye. I have a fairly complicated, non-​textbook case and went to meet with Dr. Kaye based on a recommendation from my primary physician. As I do with all my doctor’s visits, I came prepared with my information. Dr. Kaye listened attentively, asked good follow-​up questions and we discussed my symptoms in a very collaborative manner which I find rare in the medical profession. He proposed a couple alternative approaches and the trade offs and I was able to make a decision and walk away from my appointment feeling very satisfied. He bedside manner was very good, repeated the decisions at the end and gave me his business card.

he doesnt listen to a fig of what you tell him. Ive been going to him for 5 years now. Ive had to fight to get a simple test for thyroid added to his blood tests. I know of 6 people who have dumped him as a doctor they ended up in the ER due his inability to diagnose properly or want to diagnose. I had a thyroid issue related to Rhymatoloist and he ignored it completely. If left unchecked I could have died. Hashimoto’s is under autoimmune. I almost fell asleep driving all the way back from his visit. He just gave me a week off after asking for tests!!! If your patient who is very active individual thanks to her pitt bull and she’s complaining about being very very tired. Houston something is wrong!!! He just is out for the money not the care of his patience.

I’m surprised to see several bad reviews of this doctor who has been helpful, attentive, and compassionate with me. I feel like he doesn’t rush me (so rare), and gives me thoughtful answers. I don’t disbelieve that some folks have had negative reactions to appointments there, but I would recommend giving him a shot (no pun intended!), and seeing if you might find him a 5 star, instead of a 1 star doctor. If you fall in the later category, you can always go somewhere else. You may just find him excellent, as I do. I think a doctor-​patient relationship that is five star worthy is not so easy to come by, and worth some effort and experimenting to see where you can find a good fit. I have been seeing Dr. Kaye for two years for treatment of my arthritis. He is kind, gentle, very well informed, and has been exceptionally helpful in treating my case, which is rather difficult. I am delighted to be in his care.

The first reviewer hit the nail on the head. This guy has no bedside manner, doesn’t like difficult cases, and isn’t afraid to treat a patient like a drug-​seeking, symptom-​faking, know-​nothing idiot. I saw him back when I was seeking a diagnosis for the underlying cause of my chronic pain and strange joint symptoms (cracking, popping, and grinding sounds; frequent subluxations; deformity — that kind of thing) and he refused to check into any of my symptoms. When I told him my kneecaps seemed to be in the wrong place (it turned out they indeed were), he not only refused to x-​ray them, he also refused to simply *look* at them with his own two eyes. When I elaborated by saying, «But they grind and pop when I bend them,» he refused to let me simply bend them so he could hear the bone-​on-​bone grinding noise they make. And as for the constant, debilitating pain I was feeling in all of my major joints, he told me all I needed was a stretching program — well, it turns out I have Ehlers-​Danlos Syndrome, and that’s just about the worst possible thing he could have recommended for me, since we are hypermobile and have joints that dislocate easily. I felt so frustrated and insulted by this bully posing as a healer that I actually started crying. His response? Nada, nichts, bupkus. He didn’t even hand me a Kleenex.
As it turns out, I needed surgery to correct the deformity of my knee joints, which he refused to so much as examine visually, and the bones were indeed grinding on each other — so much so that they wore away all my cartilage. Same situation with my hips. No wonder I was in constant pain. Long story short, avoid this guy like undercooked pork — if you need a good doc for a chronic pain condition, message me and I will tip you off to someone really wonderful.

Dr. Kaye is the best physician I have ever seen, bar none, and there have been quite a few. His compassion for me and my pain issues has been overwhelmingly wonderful; he knows about the latest drugs and supports trying different medications; is gentle at giving injections; listens carefully to information and tries to get you the best help available, using the latest info from the field.
Only wish he was my doctor for everything!

Friendly, professional, and his office has been easy to deal with so far. My husband was being seen by a doc in SF who started him on a treatment for his arthritis that ended up costing us (just for our co-​pay portion) about a thousand bucks a treatment, with treatments scheduled every six weeks. The doc said it was covered by insurance, but didn’t bother to mention our co-​pay. Needless to say we were not happy.
Dr. Kaye has been great so far and is helping my husband find treatment that works best for him.

This doctor prefers textbook cases and is incapable of thinking outside the box with his patients. Discredits and invalidates patients’ pain by comparing it to the excruciating pain that was his broken (*gasp!*) foot bone. Not much compassion for someone who is supposed to be treating patients with debilitating painful chronic conditions. Also, his infusion room for patients has no actual equipment (IVs run by gravity and wristwatches, not pumps), with rather uncomfortable chairs (especially if you don’t get one of the two semi-​comfortable ones). He picks and chooses his cases based on ease, so if you have a long medical history or have more than one condition, you should look elsewhere for a more skilled specialist.
