So, I tried to eat healthy today. After my run, I ate some yogurt. For lunch a kale salad. So far, so good. Then I tried to go to Washingtown laundromat. Whole street ended up being blocked off for some festival. Silly me, I tried to make it to the laundromat anyway. Place was on the street right in the middle of the festival — totally closed for the day. But then I’m at the festival, might as well enjoy it, right? Berkeley Juneteenth Music Festival. There are two stages at opposite ends of the closed off Adeline-Alcatraz corridor. Both stages had music non-stop. The highlight was a couple neo-gospel singers — The Washington Sisters — who were pretty good. In between the stages was a smörgåsbord of booths offering tips on dental hygiene, help with real estate, local businesses and government services. Additionally there were some bouncy castles and giant slides — low-level carnival rides for the kids. But as is usual at these types of festivals, the real attraction was the food. So much for trying to be good(both food and money-wise). In a gluttony fueled — bacchanalian madness I ended up eating a ginormous amount of tri-tip, fried chicken and a bacon wrapped hot dog. It was delicious and gut busting and ridiculous. Ended up back at home, still needing to do laundry, but too damn full to care.
