History

Established in 2013.

I was professionally trained by Bay Area legend Idexa Stern of Black & Blue Tattoo, completing my apprenticeship in May 2015. In addition to tattooing, I create artwork in oil and watercolor, ink and pencil, as well as metalwork and jewelry design. Banshee Arts opened as an online business in 2013, offering art prints, talismans, and other handcrafts by Morpheus Ravenna and Brennos Agrocunos. In 2015, we are proud to be opening our own shop in the newest Firehouse Art Collective space, in the vibrant Gilman neighborhood of Berkeley. Here Morpheus will offer professional custom tattooing, as well as featuring a select range of art and handmade items.

I was professionally trained by Bay Area legend Idexa Stern of Black & Blue Tattoo, completing my apprenticeship in May 2015. I excel in tattoo design inspired by ancient art and civilizations, and have a passion for ritual and magical tattoos, mythological sources, and Celtic, Norse, Hellenic, and other historical traditions. I recognize tattooing as an initiatory art and in both design and tattooing I strives to serve as a channel to bring my clients’ visions to life as indelible, living art in the skin.

In addition to my tattoing work, I am an experienced artist and spiritual worker, creating artwork since I could hold a pencil, learning to draw before I could read. My art expertise includes painting in oil and watercolor, works in ink and pencil, and henna body art, as well as metalwork and jewelry design. My work is the blending of art and ritual through the creation of sigils, bindrunes, and talismans as well as the living art of tattoo.

I found Banshee and Morpheus through happenstance. Considering I wanted to get some old ink corrected and some new work designed, I made an appointment and went by. I am forever glad I did.
Her shop is cozy, inviting and has great energy. Morpheus is pleasant, her energy is positive and her conversation great.
Now, on to her work…
I’ve been tattooed quite a few times by quite a few different artists and over the last 30 years. To be frank, she is bloody great at her work!!! She got the concept I was trying to design right away. She came back with an emailed initial design within a few days. I went in for a final consult and approved the artwork. She nailed what I wanted right on the head.
The execution was excellent. Her fine lines are clean and well executed. The design was sized perfectly and placed perfectly. She works with great attention to detail. Her touch is light but every line was complete and perfect.
I greatly enjoyed working with her. So much so, that I booked, on the spot, a date one week hence for another piece. Soon, we will begin to fix the scratch work on my back.
I like working with professionals but I especially like working with professionals that I like. Trust me, you’ll like her art, her execution, her shop and herself.

I had a chance to get some ink from Morpheus before Banshee Arts had its own shop. Regardless of the venue, I felt very safe and supported in her care — particularly noteworthy as the session included some ritual elements. Oh, and the tattoo came out great. Why can’t I give six stars, Unilocal

Morpheus is truly awesome. My Mom, sister, and I have been in touch with her for about six months to design a tattoo for us and after having it done today, we couldn’t be happier. She worked on the design long distance (I am in Chicago, my sister is in Arkansas) and was able, even through email, to create a design which exactly matched what we had in mind.
As it was my Mom’s first tattoo, Morpheus spent a lot of time walking her through the process and explaining as she went. Her warm and calming energy made the experience simply wonderful.
My sister and I both plan to have her do additional work on us next year. I can’t recommend her highly enough!!!

Morpheus does really great work. She has done 3 tattooes for me so far, the third being most recently in her new shop in Berkeley, which, btw, is really cool & chill. Love all 3 tattooes, the designs, the actual tattoo process, & the long term viability of them. Highly recommend her!!!

I got a beautiful tattoo here last week. When I went in for my initial consultation, it was basically with the approach that I had a surgical scar I wanted covered up, and whatever she thought would look good, I was happy to get. I wound up with a design that I *love* and she spent a lot of time with me going through the inks to make sure the colors were exactly what I wanted. I had to hold my arm awkwardly while she worked and she was very gracious about me needed to stop and stretch a lot. I definitely plan to be back here for more.

Morpheus is a wonderful collaborator to work with on tattoo design. She is very intuitive and gentle during this process. Her sense of color is rich and her method of shading is very detailed and true. Her energy is authentic and her delight in her work is evident throughout the whole process. I highly recommend.

Morpheus is a true professional and talented artist. She did two small celtic/​viking knot tattoos for me, and I was very impressed by the intricacy of her work. During our consultation she listened to what I wanted and asked many questions to clarify. She also voiced concerns with clear explanations for why certain things I wanted were not good ideas for tattoos. Plus, she has good taste in music and while I was getting tattooed, she played epic songs that made me feel like I was riding into battle. She is awesome! Go see her.
