Anton Salon

This review is based on my stylist Thuan.
I have very very thin, thick, and curly hair. Possibly the worst to tame and control. I really hate it at times lol. Because of this I never dye my hair because I’m scared of damaging it.
I told Thuan that I wanted something different. I wanted to do layers and that I wanted to try dying my hair, but did not want to damage it. He suggested highlights and so I agreed and it was the best decision I’ve made with my hair by far! Thuan really knows his colors. Sometimes I see people with super light highlights that don’t contrast well and that’s what I was scared of… But thuan made it look so subtle and natural! AHHH I love it!
Since I don’t blow dry or care for my hair unless he styles it (lol), he suggested certain products and ways to make my hair work for everyday life.
I really like the fact the he KNOWS his stuff and shares that information with me!
Thuan has been my hair hero for awhile now and I wouldn’t have it any other way :) I recommend him if you are in need of a hair hero!

I really like Anton Salon. I had my hair lightened by Sean and he did a great job. It’s not easy to get black hair to a lighter shade without making it red, but he did it, and I now have the ashy balayage that I wanted. The vibe in the salon is great, too. Thanks!

Epic! Went in for a men’s haircut. Got excellent cut + found out about a new gel that doesn’t make the hair feel waxy /​look wet.

After a bad haircut at a different salon, I came here based off of other reviews and my friends recommendation. Sean fixed and restyled my hair and I’m quite pleased. Plus, I received more compliments from colleagues then ever before.
The vibe is fun and the owner Joe decorates the studio with avant-​gard costumes! Festive and and spirited… It’s a great find and I will be back!

I’ve passed by this salon many many times but I always figured that it would be too expensive for my student budget. I decided to walk in today and ask about services and prices. I was met with all smiles and was given a price list. The vibe was great, and a cut and style was only $ 75 so I thought i’d go for it (my hair was in desperate need of some professional TLC). I walked in to make an appointment, thinking that it would be a week or so out — at least, but I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when Joe (one of the owners) told me that 1) Mondays and Tuesdays are «express cut» days where they offer a discounted price to students, and 2) the «master» Sean was going to be able to fit me in in 30 minutes!!! Sign me up!!!
Once in the chair, Sean listened to me and what I wanted; he explained everything that he was going to do, and why; and then proceeded to spend 2 hours and 45 minutes on my hair! I have really long, thick, brown hair and he trimmed and layered it like a boss! And then blew it out and styled it!!! I never felt rushed, and it was the best 2.75 hours of my life! :)
And now, my hair looks fantastic, I have better knowledge of how to treat and deal with my long locks because Sean was so knowledgeable and helpful, and because of the the Monday/​Tuesday deal for students… I got this amazing cut and style for $ 45!!!
Sean is seriously a master… in all meanings of the word! He oozes talent, and clearly LOVES what he does. The Salon is clean and nice, and has a really great vibe. I met Sean (my stylist), Winder (Sean’s dog with a haircut like a lion!) Joe, and Joe (Jose), who are the owners… and everyone was SO nice, friendly and cool.
Easily the best salon experience I’ve ever had.

I have been going to Anton salon for almost two years from Pacifica, ca. I have been getting my hair highlighted, cut, Brazilian blowout and even getting make up done by JOE! He is an amazing artist and a joy to receive such wonderful hair styles. I enjoy going to the salon because it is so elegant and makes me feel so relaxed. It is worth every dollar to drive from Pacifica.

Sean my stylist is amazing!!! I have to be honest I’m always hesitant about changing my hair color because It never turns out the way I want it to be but for the first time I walk out of the salon with a big smile on my face because I absolutely loved my hair!!! Sean definitely knows what he’s doing! He’s my fave!

My experience at Anton Salon was everything I’ve been looking for! Great service, atmosphere and most of all skilled artists that listens! My stylist Sean was nothing less than AMAZING. I can’t say enough positive things about my experience here. My stylist Sean was amazing! I was a little nervous when I saw him fussing for ages over the previous client’s blowout — I hate when stylists spend an hour getting the blowout perfect, I’m like a little kid in the dentist’s chair and want to be out of there! However he was super quick and efficient when I explained that I had to be out of there by 2:30 and gave me a shampoo, cut, and blowout in less than an hour. My hair looks great and he gave me some awesome tips for keeping it healthy and looking good with minimal maintenance. He also explained what products he was using but didn’t try to hard-​sell them at all.
Perhaps best of all, I got this whole service for $ 75 before tip, which is an excellent price for a salon with such skilled stylists and such an upscale atmosphere. (I think this may have been part of some kind of midweek deal though.) I really wish I had found this place sooner because I’m moving away and probably won’t get to come back.

Just got home from Antons salon and my husband said, «wow who are you? Quick kiss me before my husband gets home.» Lol made me feel like the day we met! Thank you Joe! My hair looks great!

Great haircut and keratin treatment experience here. Sean is so nice and does a fantastic job– really goes the extra mile and takes time to show you how to style your hair. I’ll be back!

I’ve been coming to Anton since they opened about a year + ago. I lived in Berkeley for two years prior to finding Joe. I color my hair in a reddish tone and I was ready to give up on hairdressers in Berkeley. I kept trying new ones and no one could do red appropriately. I kept ending up too brown or fire-​engine red! Joe gets it right time after time — even when he changes the color a bit. I always look great!
I’d also had a my hair chemically fried by another stylist when she used a relaxer on my hair (rather than a straightening treatment as planned). Disaster! My hair was breaking off at the scalp! And I have hair past my shoulders that I thought I’d have to cut off and regrow! But Joe came to the rescue and now my hair is thick and full again.
I can’t say enough about this place. Love, love, love it. There is a reason it keeps getting a solid 5 star rating!

Megan Kelley is my stylist at Anton and she is one of those ‘finds’. Her experience is broad — color, style, corrections, etc., but more than that she has a way of handling hair to get the most out of it without any damage. She has a light touch and knows exactly what she’s doing. Every action has a purpose, so she doesn’t over process or over handle your hair. She also doesn’t over-​cut. If you want it long she is respectful of that and doesn’t go beyond what you ask for. Her level of expertise is very high and I often see other stylists ask her for advice. Everyone at Anton is cool and attentive and the atmosphere is upscale but you feel very comfortable. The owner, Joe, is wonderful too. He makes sure you’re always well taken care of.

I had to make a Unilocal account just to leave this review. Sean is amazing. Showed him what I wanted and he gave me exactly that – an asymmetrical bob that looks good with my wavy hair!
Sean is one of the nicest people I’ve met, and extremely enthusiastic! It’s easy to tell that he’s very passionate about what he does, and he’s incredibly skilled. He listens, offers his own input, and walks you through a good daily routine for your new cut.
If you’re looking for a great cut and someone to work with you to make it happen, I can’t recommend Sean enough — I’ll definitely be seeing him again.
Oh, and the salon itself is also very cute and chic. It feels spacious, not too loud in spite of the busy street, and it smells good! No overpowering product smell here. Plus, online appointments!

I love everything about this salon! The first time I came here, I was a walk-​in, but even from the sidewalk, I could tell that this place has a really great artistic vision. The décor is on point, with full length mirrors in front of each station and the «Free Stylist» hair dryers that hang from the ceiling.
The entire staff from the receptionist to the hair dressers are really polite! They offer coffee or tea as soon as you walk in, and they make sure you’re really comfortable.
Today, I came in right before closing (on Unilocal it says that they’re open until 8, but apparently, they usually close around 6), but Jackie took me anyway. It ended up working out really well because Jackie did my hair the last time I came here, and she helped me through the first time I got highlights. When she finished coloring my hair this time, she was just as excited as I was; you can tell that Jackie is really passionate about coloring hair – with good reason, it turned out perfectly! I couldn’t be happier with my Color/​Balayage! It looks really natural, but really glamorous. Also, even though my hair was bleached, they keep it really healthy. I would recommend this salon to anyone and everyone; each aspect of Anton Salon is on point!
