History

Established in 1990.

Alliance Graphics was founded in 1990 as the for-​profit arm of the Middle East Children’s Alliance. We began screen printing t-​shirts and posters — led by our art director, the renowned artist and printer Jos Sances — and soon expanded into embroidery and the full palette of promotional items. We are now independently incorporated but all our net profits still supports Middle East Children’s Alliance projects.

Meet the Manager

Howard L.

Manager

Alliance Graphics President Howard Levine is a founder of the Middle East Children’s Alliance. In his former life he was an award-​winning journalist, an editor at the San Francisco Bay Guardian and reporter for the San Francisco Examiner and Oakland Tribune. He is a former president of the Albany Berkeley Girls Softball League. You can often find him out on the softball field playing or at an A’s game.

We needed some shirts with our company name embroidered on the chest. Howard was very patient and helpful in showing us all the styles and options available. We even tried all the samples on since we needed shirts that are comfortable to work in. I expected to pay more for these great shirts, especially since we only ordered a small number of them but the prices were excellent. I highly recommend Alliance and will definitely order more company gear (they can print signs and banners too) from them in the near future. Local, small business, union labor, great customer service and competitive prices? Yes, please!

I have worked with Howard and the Alliance graphics team for over 6 years now. They never ever fail me. They are quick to respond, always help, always work with my budget and are creative when it comes to design. Just recently I had a tight budget with a 48 hour time crunch and they, once again, came through for me. When you go there everyone is friendly, including their dogs, and I can pop in, grab my order and hop out. No fussing. No hassle. For anyone who ever needs any custom orders, custom uniforms, or just some plain awesome items for your teams or employees, they are the local place to go! I would give them 10 stars if I could. Oh and the prices? Always reasonable! They want to work with you for the long run. Quality and great customer service!

I love the dogs. You’ll love the dogs too, especially the really furry one. He can catch treats out of the air, but I think he prefers to be hand-​fed. If you’re coming to pick up your order late in the day, make sure it’s not too late; the dogs go home before closing time. Or at least they do sometimes.
Lovable furry dogs? Union-​made, quality T-​shirts? Why am I not giving it five stars? I would, but there was an order screw-​up in August/​September/​October. It wasn’t the biggest of big deals, and I realize that presidential-​election years are probably a huge headache for all silkscreeners, but sending our shirts to another union? Really? And it took too long to track them down. But otherwise, Alliance Graphics is awesome.

When you need a t-​shirt and your in a bind, Howard can be counted on to come through for you!
I was orignally referred to Alliance Graphics by the Berkeley High School Athletic Department when I wanted T Shirts for our class reunion. For a very reasonable fee, they designed and produced them (@ $ 10 per shirt including tax). The art department is fantastic and the turn around time is super speedy.
I am now using them for my Business Shirts since they were able to match the price that we were getting in Missouri. We’d rather keep the money in our own community!
Also, they have a very nice selection of CAL Berkeley Bears logo’d souvineers, shirts, hoodies, etc. So if you want that Berkely Gear but don’t wanna spend a fortune or drive onto the campus, this is just right off of I-​80 on Gilman (make a left at 8th and it’s 1.5 blocks down on the right).
