Super 8 of Benton

A bit of background. I travel for business regularly. I try to keep costs down and avoid wasting the company’s money for a place to sleep. However, I would like a hotel to be at least as clean as my own house.
I arrived at the hotel and went to check in. After waiting in an empty lobby for half a minute, the came around the corner spraying an aerosol can, hiding it after realizing we were present. Odd. We checked in and got our bags from the van.
Got into the room and immediately spotted stained and ripped carpet. shortly after we found dirty bedsheets and stained wall paper in the bathroom. The decision was made to get a refund and find a better place, regardless of cost.
Packed up the van and headed in to get a refund. Hotel tells me that I am out of luck and all refunds go through the website I booked through. (Which I had found poor reviews on) I rang them.
I was told that there was no refunds on the day of, however the hotel may allow a refund at their discretion. They rang the hotel and spoke to them about the situation. Back on the phone with me, they told me the hotel unsurprisingly refused the refund but recommended I talk to my credit card company. They had mentioned that if I had a good card, they will likely take care of it. We booked a better hotel, though the drive was further.
No more Super 8’s for me. An extra $ 22/​night and 30 minute drive each way is money well spent.

We recently traveled cross country with our puppy, and this was possibly our worst stop on the entire trip. The hotel was dirty, we had trouble getting the door closed (I had to press all of my weight against the door to get the latch to catch), it was noisy all night long, and when I went to put stuff in the car the next morning there was blood outside on the carpet and trash can. We will avoid Benton, and this hotel, if we travel across country again.
