Holiday Inn Express & Suites Benton Harbor

This hotel is located near silver beach in st. Joseph. The Roome was very cozy and clean. The bed was super comfortable will definitely stay again.

Room was muggy. Stayed in a king suite and the first floor was nice. Big room and small kitchenette good location. The price is high even with my discount. The humidity in the room was bad even with the ac running. A bottle of shampoo was left in the shower by the last person (yuck) and I could not find the switch to turn in the exhaust fan in bathroom as I thought it would bring the humidity down. The breakfast was average. The bed was comfy as well as the pillows. Wouldn’t stay here again? Still tossing that idea up.

I have stayed at a few holiday in express hotels in my time, but this one isn’t the nicest. The desk clerks were fine, but had no intention to do anything other than what they are required to do in their job. Not even converse! My room’s door had an issue for the person they attempted to give it to before me, they apparently fixed it and I stayed here. Then they put me on the second floor, and the elevator was not working. There were pieces of carpeting missing on some of the areas, and the bathroom sink mirror and while we’re piecemeal together. The chair also had weird stains all over it like someone had spilled things over and over. My room also overlooked the lovely outside lighting, thank God for room darkening curtains. And they do not take corporate lodging cards unlike the holiday in express in Lapeer Michigan. Dumb.

I did not stay in this hotel. I stayed down the road in at the Holiday Inn in St Joseph.
That didn’t stop them from charging me for the night anyways.
The mistake was clearly made by Holiday Inn but the manager refused to refund me the $ 100+ charge for the vacant room because it wasn’t Benton Harbor’s staff that made the mistake.

Very enjoyable stay. Clean, nice rooms, and very friendly staff. We did feel at $ 120 it was way over priced.

Excellent stay. Wasn’t expecting a whole lot on my one-​night stay except a place to sleep, but the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, and the manager stopped by during breakfast in the dining area to make the rounds and ask how the guests’ experiences were going.
The kicker was when we checked out and realized we’d left the interior lights on all night in our rental car, and the battery was dead. An employee was on hand to pull up and give us a jump, and in a matter of minutes we were on the road. It could have put a damper on the day, but instead it made us realize this is a place that values its guests.
Close to the shore and to the Michigan wineries – would make a great base camp. Thanks!

Pretty small holiday inn. Dont like the pillow. Not very soft. Staff is very friendly though. Breakfast area is small and the regular coffe pot was sitting there empty when I went over try to get coffee. I waited for about 10 mins until the lady came back with a full pot. Room is very clean. Convenient to get around cuz its right off 94. Not too noisy at night.

For a relatively new HIE, it is not well laid out or in very good shape. Pleasant staff. However for the $$, stay somewhere else in the area.

This was my very first stay at a Holiday Inn, and in all honesty I expected a complete shit hole. BUT I was pleasantly surprised. My bf and I tried to book our annual South Haven trip for 4^th of July weekend. By mid-​March literally all of the hotels in South Haven were completely booked. Benton Harbor was the closest alternative, and its proximity allowed us to spend a day and a half in South Haven, and a half a day in St. Joseph.
When I called to book I worked with a wonderful, cheerful, helpful front desk guy who was completely accomodating. He gave me a great rate for a jacuzzi room and answered every question I had about the area. Even though I expected a Holiday Inn to be crappy, I was already pleased with the customer service.
Now the mini-​disaster. When we showed up we were told that our reservation did NOT include a jacuzzi room. The jacuzzi was the ONLY reason I chose this hotel versus others in Benton Harbor. The manager was a complete jack ass and completely rude. Even though I had my original reservation, and the name of the guy who had helped me all those months ago, I was told that I was WRONG as, according to him, they didn’t even have any jacuzzi suites available back in March. I call bullshit. I asked about the employee who had been so wonderful during booking, and apparently this employee quit working here just weeks after I booked the room. Convenient that their screw up is blamed on me because the employee involved no longer works there. Since there were NO hotels left anywhereeeee at this point, we were stuck there. I was PISSED. Seriously almost drove back to Chicago.
After a mini-​tempter tantrum to my bf in the parking lot, I calmed down and accepted our situation — as long as I didn’t have to deal with that moron, douchebag manager again.
The room was actually clean and nicer than I could’ve expected. The pool was clean and good for a late-​night post-​party dip (shhhh we may or may not have snuck in after hours). Breakfast was surprisingly yummy with amazing cinnamon rolls and eggs, etc. Honestly the hotel served its purpose as somewhere to crash after a day of beaches and drinks. I would’ve given 3 Stars if it wasn’t for the manager and messing up our reservations. I’d def stay at a H.I. again, though, in a similar situation. Still more expensive than it was worth.

okay, it’s hard to admit but things were a bit sketchy at a different time of my life. I lived here, I think when i was 19 – 20, I used to frequent the Holiday Inn Bar (scary, yes, i agree) and I really can’t give you details.
The one thing I can tell you is that one night when I was here, Muhammad Ali bought my drinks all night. Even then he wasn’t completely right in the head, but his security was. I can tell you, even though my father probably didn’t approve of my being a barfly, he was impressed and a bit jealous.
