History

Established in 1981.

In 1981 David & Aileen Ross purchased the family’s truck cover business from David’s father, and renamed the business Camptown RV. At first, the young couple’s days were spent building truck covers out in the sweltering sun and attempting to market a product with an alarmingly decreasing demand. Eventually, with the increase in popularity of the innovative combination of tent and trailer, they decided to add pop-​ups to their inventory. They bought these trailers used and renovated them to resell; they soon discovered that it would be in their best interest to attempt to sell new pop-​ups. Because of their hands-​on work, they were able to make an educated decision in choosing the best quality brand, which was how they became a Jayco dealer. They started to build less and less truck covers; workman’s gloves and cut off jeans were replaced with slacks and button up shirts, and eventually their business evolved into a full-​fledged RV dealership.

Business Owner

David and Ailene Ross still run the business together; even though David is officially the owner, and Ailene is the president, they still make equal contributions to business decisions. These joint decisions have definitely spelled out success and growth for the business.
