When I finally got around to dealing with curtains for the French doors leading to the back porch, I had to admit I had no idea how to deal with them. Way above my pay grade! So, breaking it down into the elements I thought involved, I went first to a fabric store to find material for drapes. Twenty overwhelming and mind numbing minutes later, I was defeated by the aisle upon aisle of material that could be used to make curtains. No wonder it had taken so long for me to address this project. Serendipity plays funny games, and if not for my tortured look as I approached a saleswoman at the measuring/cutting counter in the rear of this megastore, I might have never known of Marburn Curtains. I asked this saintly person how I should approach buying fabric for curtains, and how find someone to actually measure and make them. She looked at me as if I was not the first clueless guy to ask this dumb question. It was like; «If you gotta ask, then you really don’t want to know…» She was right. I was going about it entirely the wrong way. Then, she told me a secret that lifted the dark clouds and pointed the way. «Go to Marburn Curtains in Bensalem. They have premade curtains in all styles and sizes. They can help you out.» Thirty minutes later I walked into this throwback 20th Century warehouse/store that had more curtains hanging in the aisles than I could look at. The shop was staffed by a crew of ladies whose life was curtains. One took my hand and led me to the back of the store where the kind of curtains I described were displayed. We were down to less than a hundred now, and the task seemed manageable. I finally selected the two packs of 60 X 84 beautiful beige lined silk-like pieces, complete with grommet holes and the necessary hardware for installation. All this and immense piece of mind for under $ 70. What had been so daunting was reduced to a simple transaction. Next step — installation. (To be continued)

Great place to pick up sheer curtains. Awesome selection. I don’t know what lady people are referring to, but every time I’ve gone there she’s been very helpful.
