Knapps is a fun mix of music, toys and hobbies. Guitars, amps and vinyl records plus a full line of accessories are featured. Takamine, Ibanez, Breedlove, Kala, Ohana, Kustom and Hosa are some of the brands carried. Games, puzzles, toys, rockets and models are also in plentiful supply with an ever changing inventory to enjoy. At Knapps, it’s always time to play!

History

Established in 2000.

In the year 2000, the Outwater family purchased Knapp’s Pets & Hobbies, which had been in business for about 40 years. They moved the business to a Main St. location and added the music department. In 2004, they bought and renovated a historic building on North St. and remained at that location until 2013. With a decline in the pet business, especially after a Petco opened in town, they decided to liquidate that portion of the business and expanded the music and toy departments. May 2013 brought Knapps back to Main St. where they are located today.

Business Owner

Jayne had been a stay-​at-​home Mom until the family purchased the business in the year 2000. While the entire family has worked at the store throughout the years, Jayne is mainly responsible for the day-​to-​day operations and the general business tasks required to run Knapps. Born and raised in Bennington, Jayne values small business and hopes to see a return to the support of small business that she experienced while growing up here.
