I have great fun at this Goodwill. I stop at other Goodwills too, and they are fine but this is my favorite. Actually I and friends are relatively upscale dressers(for Vermont) and get all our great clothes here. We don’t shop at full price stores any more. Well maybe for underwear and shoes but why spend the money. We just have to be really picky, well because if we aren’t, we’ll end up with overstuffed closets. Thing is: don’t buy it unless it’s what you want and the price is right. Just ignore anything you think is too cheaply made, shabby or overpriced. Some of the staff is nicer than others; just ignore the ones you think are poor-mannered or noticeably gossipy. Even those warm up to a smile and a tasteful wisecrack. So — it turns out one of the reasons this is a *good* Goodwill, is that a lot of the clothing comes from the wealthier area of the Berkshires, like around Tanglewood. So. You like getting a like-new Talbot or Carole Little item for $ 2? Just come in on Two Dollar Tuesday and go through the racks I meet friends at this place and we crow to each other about our great finds. I shouldn’t write this review because I’m giving away a great secret!

This is one of the worst goodwill stores you will ever shop at. The prices are crazy, sometimes even more expensive than retail. You can find a deal sometimes on clothing on the Tuesday or Thursday special days, but the clothing in Bennington is not high end. The reason for two stars is that they only have one fitting room and the door doesn’t even close properly. If you ask why only one fitting room when some goodwills have 20, they will explain to you that customers have defecated in the fitting rooms and so they are closely monitored. This I don’t want to know, all I wonder is why they can’t have more fitting rooms especially since they no longer accept returns. The store is well organized and well maintained, excluding the fitting room. There are several friendly employees, notably Melissa and Wendy, but there are also several who refuse to even acknowledge customers.

Another roadside attraction? Perhaps… I’m always drawn to the Goodwill sign whenever I’m on the road. Had to make a stop while driving through town a few weeks ago. While this store didn’t have much of what I look for(vinyl), I did note that it had an interesting selection of books. Not surprisingly, as Bennington is a very literate town. I will stop by on subsequent visits… this looks like the kind of thrift store where one might find some pretty eclectic stuff!

I love this place… maybe because I am thrift store shopping while on vacation in VT? I love the idea of possibly buying something from someone all the way across the country from me… but anyway, it is a smallish Goodwill store, but they do have some cool stuff. Prices a bit cheaper than the Goodwill stores in CA. I stop by everytime I visit the area. FUN!
