History

Established in 1891.

100 years after ‘the Battle of Bennington’, a 306′ obelisk was built to commemorate a very important battle in the early part of the American Revolution. Bennington led to the British General John Burgoyne’s surrender at Saratoga on October 17th, 1777, said to be the turning point of the war.
