I’ve lived here 28 years, and it certainly has changed in that time(although it changed more significantly in the 28 years that preceded that). I love the history and the few places where you get a sense for late 19th century California. The waterfront is beautiful if you don’t face the Martinez refinery. The love/hate relationship with the refineries defines the city, for better or worse.

This is a really great place for walks and restaurants. Cute boutique stores and a historic California Capitol building. Great place for kids as well.
