Specialties
It is with great pride that we present our wide variety of Iron Beds, Daybeds, Cribs and Cradles and our complete line of outdoor Garden Furnishings. The craftsmen at Benicia Foundry and Iron Works take great pride in the quality and durability of all of our products. In keeping the tradition of the early craftsmen, each Benicia product is handcrafted using time honored techniques and the finest materials. The artistry of handcrafting each Benicia product begins by cutting, bending, drilling and welding each product completely by hand. Then, the decorative castings are formed by pouring molten aluminum into a mold. Next, the finishing process begins; a painstaking task to prepare the product for one of our 33 hand applied, baked on powder coated and patina finishes. All of our products are created to last generations.
History
Established in 1853.
Benicia Foundry & Iron Works is located on the Straights of Carquinez in historic Benicia, California, once the stomping grounds of Jack London. In 1853 Benicia became California’s third state capitol. That same year the first foundry was built in Benicia, that was the foundry of the Pacific Mail Steamship Company which became Baker & Hamilton’s Benicia Agricultural Works in 1879. B & H produced a wide variety of tools and farm equipment that became well known for their excellence by the ranchers and farmers of the early west. Since this was before the machine age, the fine quality of these products was largely due to the skill of the craftsmen that worked there. In the early 1900s the Benicia Agricultural Works was acquired by Yuba Industries which specialized in large metal products. By 1970 with demand for their products down, Yuba industries closed their Benicia Works and sold off all equipment. Only the foundry with all of its historic molds and patterns was sold intact.
