History
Established in 2010.
Chef Bette has been cooking professionally for over 25 years. She is passionate about food and loves to share her knowledge with others.
It was on a ski vacation to Bend in 2004 that Bette and her husband, Jeff, were captivated with all that Bend has to offer. They chose to leave Bette’s successful catering business in Southern California and build a home in beautiful Bend.
Since moving to Bend, Chef Bette has continued catering, creating gastronomical feasts for her clients and teaching cooking classes in her gourmet kitchen that overlooks the Cascade Mountain Range.
Realizing that Bend had a vibrant culinary community made up of diverse food purveyors, from sustainable farms and ranches to microbreweries, artisan cheese makers, wineries and distilleries, Chef Bette decided to create The Well Traveled Fork. It features culinary tours around Central Oregon in addition to cooking classes and catering.
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
Using fresh, natural ingredients is a family tradition that Chef Bette learned early on when, as a young girl, she shared the kitchen alongside her mother. That tradition began with Bette’s grandparents immigrated to the United States from Norway and opened a bakery. Her grandfather used all natural ingredients to make delicious, fresh baked goods.
After graduating from college, Bette spent time in the investment world, but soon was drawn back to the family business of food. It all began with Bette’s Brittle, which has been featured in Food & Wine Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. Not content to just make candy, Chef Bette traveled to Europe to learn from the master chefs in France and Italy. One thing lead to another and a catering business in Redondo Beach, CA prospered for many years until Bend beckoned. Now settled in Bend, Chef Bette’s goal is to educate her guests about the best way to keep our bodies and our communities healthy. Let her share her love of food with you!
