History

Established in 1993.

After moving to Bend in 1989 and working for a couple of shops, Dave opened up David Schmidt Plumbing in 1995. In 2012 Dave changed the name of the company to Renew Plumbing Services. Same great service with an updated name and look!

Getting his Oregon Jourrneyman plumber license in 1989 and opening his business in 1993, Dave’s experience and knowledge are what sets him apart from a lot of other plumbers in the trade.

Had Renew come out on 2 separate occasions and had a great experience each time. Dave quickly followed up, was on time and not only quickly fixed each problem but also explained the process and location of valves for shutting down the water, etc. One of the problems was a hose fitting that burst literally 4 weeks after moving into house so I was glad to receive the tutorial on where everything was. Dave was fantastic and passionate about his work which is great to see and it’s obviously contagious to his customers.

Dave was such a help to me. First he spoke with me on the phone for about 20 minutes giving me advice on how to handle my situation with my contractor that built my house and did it for nothing more than making sure I wasn’t getting screwed over. Then when I lost faith and trust in my contractor because he blamed me for why there was a leak which went through my downstairs ceiling, I knew who I could call. Dave came out the same day I called and easily turned the tables to show that it was my contractors fault for a leaky toilet. He then sent me a detailed explanation on the invoice to use if things with the contractor ever go to court. To top it all off, I called him during the repair to run what the contractors solution was by him and he told me that it seems like my contractor was doing the right things. Dave let me know I could call him anytime something else pops up. He is a great businessman who genuinely cares about making sure the job is done right.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said?! Dave is simply fabulous. We discovered water on the outside of our home and had a heck of a time trying to determine where it was coming from. I fully expected multiple holes in several walls to locate the leak, but Dave said he preferred to do some «recognizance work» before actually cutting through our drywall. It’s no exaggeration to say that Dave spent a solid 90 minutes familiarizing himself with the layout of our home, asking questions, traversing the crawl space to narrow the source of the leak down to one wall and using various investigative tools in the hopes that he wouldn’t have to cut into our wall (saving us the cost of drywall repair). Most plumbers would have «cut first, investigate later», but not Dave! When he discovered the source of the leak would in fact require cutting into our wall, he took extra care to keep the cutting to a minimum. He kept me posted throughout the project while giving me a variety of options for repairs and helping me determine which was the best solution for us. With over 30 years of experience, he was wonderful in his explanations and communication. He fixed the leak quickly and efficiently. When he told me the price, I had to double check — for almost five hours of work, I couldn’t believe how reasonable his fee was! Further, he was someone I was completely comfortable having in my home while there by myself. He was extremely pleasant and his customer service is top notch. He even gave us a great referral for a drywall contractor. We won’t hesitate to call Dave again for any plumbing issues we have!

What can I say that everyone else hasn’t said already? Dave is fantastic! I just bought a house and moved to Bend last week. Dave was able to come over the same day I called and give me all my options regarding trying to fix my very old and beat up garbage disposal vs installing a new one. Five Star rating for Dave and Renew Plumbing is well deserved.
Dave has completed several projects for me over the last two years including fixing a hot-​water recirculation pump, fixing a toilet and then garbage disposal, and a very extensive project to run a natural gas line from the meter under the house and out to a brand new fire pit and bbq. Throughout all of these projects, he was timely, polite, courteous while working (we work from home), and always took the extra time to explain the project. Good communication is essential and I always felt he was going to do a fantastic job, which he did every time.

I called Renew because it was still listed in Unilocal in San Diego, although they had already moved to Oregon. Dave returned my call, thinking I was in Oregon. Once we realized where we were both located, Dave spent 10 minutes talking me through my problem on the phone. I was able to fix it on my own! He was so helpful and did it for free, the least I can do is tell everyone in Oregon he’s great!

First time customer so it was a crapshoot when I suddenly needed a plumber. Got really lucky though when I called Renew. Dave fit me in between other customers, got over to help right away, and fixed the problem quickly. Personable, fair, competent. Also gave advice on how to prevent more problems down the road. There’s a reason Dave only has 5 star reviews. He only does 5 star work. He recently completed 2 projects for me. He replaced 2 old toilets and added a gas line out to my new fire pit. While he was installing the toilets he noticed that the bathroom had been recently painted and came to ask if I wanted to finish up the spot behind the toilet before he installed the new one. I never would have thought of that but he did and it was awesome that he gave me the opportunity to finish it up.
But Dave doesn’t just do good work. He’s highly responsive, communicative, honest and just a really nice guy and he genuinely wants to know if you’re not happy. But really, I couldn’t be happier. If you’re looking for a plumber, stop and call Dave. You won’t regret it.

I called Dave to get a second opinion on a sewer line issue we were having on a second home. Dave took the time to check out the issue and gave me his professional advice. His advice ended up saving me thousands of dollars.

The sewer line to the home had tree roots infiltrating it and had caused a back up… The area of concern needed to be dug up and replaced (under the asphalt drive). Dave’s advice was to contact the utility company. He noticed that the area of concern was close to the city sewer connection and might be their issue. He was right.
I’ve dealt with a lot of contractors and trade professionals in my life, and I can’t recall of a past experience where anyone had given me advise that would save me money… Until now.

Dave is an honest, straight-​shooting plumber. He helped us out on the weekend prior to a home inspection. He said he would be here about an hour and told us the price. He was dead on and the heater works great. Just needed some routine maintenance.
He is the only plumber I would call.

Dave Schmidt is the only plumber I would hire in Bend, OR. He is honest, on time, and takes great pains to keep your house clean as he is working. I hired him to install a new sink, garbage disposal and hot water heater in a hurry, as the plumber I had originally hired kept putting it off. Dave was able to save me money, substituting some of what he already had on his truck for some of the more expensive but inferior products that I had purchased at Home Depot.
Dave got the sink installed, and when it turned out that he was going to have to cut some tile to make the sink fit, protected the rest of the house from dust.
I wish I could take him with me when I move, it took me a long time to find him, and I am so bummed that I am going to have to find a new plumber in my new city!
