We’re from Vancouver, WA and we take long-weekends in Bend regularly. We had just arrived in Bend for a 3-day stay and our vehicle suffered a flat tire last night. Frantically searching for an open tire shop, we landed at what is now Point S Tire and Auto Service in Bend(after hours). We dropped the car off with Dan on Tuesday night and he said our car would be ready the next morning. Luckily for us the hole was pluggable. Not only did they have our car ready on Wednesday morning as promised, they didn’t charge us for the work. Thank you Dan, and your team at Point S Tire & Auto Service. You saved our mini-vacation from a potential disaster.

After researching the best kind of tire for my SUV, I found that the Nokian brand got great reviews for one of their tires. Well the hard part was finding a local dealer that had them in stock. Nelsen Tire Factory in Bend had them. I requested a quote from the web-site and within 20 minutes, I had an emailed quote. I spoke with Tony on the phone who explained that they had a slightly smaller tire in stock that would work just as well for my car. I was able to bring my car in the next morning and in 45 minutes the car was done. The woman at the counter also explained in detail the warranty process and also the other locations that I could request service in the event of an emergency. Good crew and glad I gave them a shot

They have a policy for returned at least on tire chains that they do not state before purchase. You can only return unused chains for store credit. We bought a set from them and found when we got home that we already had some after all. Although the bag was not open and the receipt with reasons they would only give us store credit for a hundred and $ 14 Plus purchase. That would have been fine if they had told us so upfront but it only showed up on the receipt and we did not notice until we went to return the tires. I consider this a ridiculous business practice for an unopened container. We will not do business there ever again

Love this place! Took my new car in for its first scheduled maintenance tire rotation. It only took 10 – 15 minutes and no charge! When I said, «you’re kidding» the guy said, «now you’ll come back when you need us.»

Who knew a tire blow out would lead to another kind of blow out? I recently had a flat tire that punctured my sidewall and ruined one of my almost new tires. I started shopping around to see what my options were for replacements. Through my research I learned that you can not just replace one tire on an all wheel drive vehicle if the tread wear is below 4/32″.(Some people will even tell you 2/32″) The difference in size will cause that one tire to rotate at a different speed which will engage your all wheel drive system and cause extreme wear and ultimate failure.(Which would be much more costly than four new tires. During my search for a new tire, or tires if need be, I stopped by Nelsen Tire Factory. I waited while the guy behind the counter finished his lunch and told him about my issue. He said, «Just slap on a new tire.» I asked if there was any issues with putting just one new tire on an all wheel drive vehicle. «Naw, it is just like putting on the spare tire.» I explained what I had been told about all wheel drive vehicles. «Where did you hear that?» he said. I explained I read it on-line. «Well I guess if you read it then it must be true.» When I asked if he could confirm or deny the information he said, «I don’t want to deal with you.» I am glad he didn’t. Because Dan Elms, he identified himself as the manager when I asked who I could complain to, is a total idiot. I subsequently did more research and found out that my information was correct. Most reputable shops, like American tire or Les Schwab, will not even put one tire on an all wheel drive vehicle. I am glad I did not let these guys«Just slap on a new tire.» or I would have ended up with a lot more problems than a single blow out. I deal with many people every day and I have to say that my interaction with Dan Elms was the most obnoxious I have had in a very long time. Stay away from Nelsen Tire Factory.
