Terrible customer service. I was greeted when I entered the store and shown a lovely, extensive collection of classy flatware, which is what my husband and I traveled to Bend to find. Score! Upon finding a pattern that we both liked, I did the math and we would be spending over $ 400. Ok. I asked the sales lady if they ever do a large purchase discount; answer was nope. I asked if this was in stock, nope. Is the pattern still available? How long to order it? She didn’t know. I gave my cell phone number and a list of questions, none of which she would answer, and asked to be called before we leave town, in two days. She told me she probably wouldn’t call by then, maybe sometime next week. I said that I’m willing to drop a lot of money in their shop and would like to know what’s up in case I need to shop around more. Another lady behind the counter said«well, we sell a TON of that line,» in a tone and with a look that said she didn’t care about making a sale! The other gal started speaking to me in a condescending manner, repeating everything that she had just said like I didn’t understand. Wth. I was pretty annoyed, and my husband agreed that there was major attitude. We wrote down the pattern and left. I looked on Amazon, and lo and behold, there was the whole set for $ 250 less. Sold. I am all about local. It’s really too bad that this shop messed up so badly. They should be better informed about what they sell, more willing to find out answers to customers’ questions in a timely manner, and give a small discount for keeping things in house. Sheesh, even a 10% discount would have made them an awesome profit, and a very good, return customer. I won’t ever go back.

There’s plenty here to choose from and very high quality(with matching price tags) to boot. If they have what you want and you don’t want to shop around online for the lowest price possible, by all means this is your place. When I went in this July, trying to do my part to Shop Local, they didn’t have the Le Creuset sauté pan in the color I wanted, so I asked about ordering it in. «Yes, we can do that,» they replied. «But it won’t be here until December or January.» SIXMONTHSWAIT?! You have to be kidding me. In the world of Amazon Prime, this is not a very viable business model. For me, Kitchen Complements is really just eye candy.

The lure of shopping online and having your impulse purchases delivered directly to your door can be overpowering… luckily, I live in Bend where I can experience the far greater pleasure of shopping at this wonderful kitchen supply store that is as mysteriously replete as Mary Poppins’s handbag! It’s not just«inventory»(think Bed Bath and Beyond): Kitchen Complements actually has *what you need, when you need it*. We did quite a bit of Christmas shopping here last year; we bought special edition ceramic Christmas dishes for gifts, and some mugs for ourselves… I love them so much I use them every day of the year! Love this store!

If I need anything for the kitchen, I know I can find it here. A small store packed to the ceiling with anything a culinary heart could desire.

I’m all about shopping local, but I don’t want to twist their arm? Owner Susan needs to rethink her customer service strategy. Twice now I’ve gone in there, no one else in there, someone working the counter, I’ve wandered around, no one talks to me — no hello, no can I help you. Come on. And they have nice stuff, a nice selection. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Kitchen Complements is a small but excellent cooking, dining and kitchen supply store. The owners are knowledgeable and offer friendly service. A wide range of items are available including cookware, knives, small kitchen appliances, plates, and glasses. I am always impressed by their selection of European made tablecloths and napkins. In Bend, if you need something culinary, start here.
