A Child’s Garden preschool and kindergarten, located at NE Studio RD, Bend OR., offers a loving and nurturing environment for your toddler, preschool and pre-​kindergarden children. Our teaching philosophy is based on the Waldorf education curriculum. Which was founded by Austrian Philosopher Rudolf Steiner in 1919. The Waldorf Curriculum is unique in the way it views the child and teaches to the whole, being the head, heart and the hand. Steiner believed the child had a unique capacity for creativity and that they learned in the early years by imitating, thereby engaging their will and doing. Rudolf Steiner realized the great importance of imaginative play and through play how they discover language, communication, creativity, develop their senses and motor skills, social skills, abstract thinking and much more. Our Classrooms: Blue Jays: 4.5 — 6 year old Apple Blossoms: 3 — 4 year old Chickadees 2 — 3 year old Daisies: 1 — 2 year old The morning programs are from 9 — 1 pm, Extended Care begins at 7:45 am until the programs start at 9:00 am with the afternoon program starting at 1:00 pm and finishing at 5:45 pm. Our Summer program starts June 1^st and continues until August 26^th.

Business Owner

My husband of 25 years and my two daughters and I have lived in Bend since January 1989. My introduction to Waldorf education came through my girls who went to a Waldorf program from preschool to 2^nd grade before it closed.

The fascination became a passion to learn and study the philosophy and early childhood education in general. The passion and learning has continued since 1992 and in 1998 a door opened for me to help start A Child’s Garden preschool and kindergarten. The journey continues.
