I heard this place had good burgers, but this was hands down the best burger I’ve ever had. The patty was fried crispy, the bacon and cheese perfect compliments, rounded off with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. The hand cut fries were an afterthought. Can’t wait to have another.

I had my first«homemade greasy burger» from Top of the Hill several years ago while running my delivery route in Benchley. I have still to this day not had a better burger than this. I always recommend them to anyone looking for a great burger and have never heard anything negative from anyone afterward. Yes, the burgers and fries are greasy, and a bit pricey for being a country store, but they are the absolute best I’ve ever had. Definitely worth the drive out there. The people are friendly and make you feel right at home.

Burgers and fries were very good. Staff and service were great. I highly recommend this place. It’s a little out of the way, but it’s worth it.

Pretty good burgers. Each burger is a 1⁄3 lb patty so keep that in mind when ordering a double meat burger. I actually prefer their«frozen» fries over their«hand cut» fries. The hand cut fries are cut pretty thin and kind of greasy. Although the burgers are good, I believe they are over priced for what you are getting.

Had an odd thing happen today where a friend surprised me and delivered a Top of the Hill Burger to me from Benchley to College Station. I suspect it had traveled 10 – 15 minutes and it held up excellent for delivery. One thing I find interesting when enjoying good foods is that the experience varies by your environment. I.E.; If you bring home the left overs from a high end restaurant and taste them at your home you can appreciate them in sometimes more complex ways. Eating a Top Of The Hill Burger somewhere other than in Benchley just underscored that this really is one of the best burgers in Texas. Just make sure that if you do make the 10 minute drive from College Station to Benchley(just past Bryan) you stop at the right place. Apparently there are two burger places there now next door to each other(the only two businesses in Benchley). The Top Of The Hill Burger, one of the finest in Texas no doubt, ranks right up there close to the Mac-Daddy Stover Bros. Burger found at Stover Café in the Village Foods & grocery on 29th and Briarcrest.
