Richardson Bay Audubon Center

Beautiful house on the bay. Nice grounds with a couple of picnic tables and benches. Steps leading down to the beach. Lovely photo opps.

Went here on a field trip with my daughter’s 4^th grade class to discover the Bay ecosystem. The weather was fantastic. The class broke into small groups and each was led by a docent on a short walk down to the water to look for creatures. The tide was out so it was perfect. The views of San Francisco (see my pics) were amazing. We weren’t allowed inside the neat Victorian home but I don’t imagine many are (especially 4^th graders with muddy feet!). Totally going back with the whole family one day. If you want to look for crabs and the like make sure to check a tide table first to make sure it is out.

The view is breathtaking here! Tiburon is just such a gorgeous place for weddings!
Watched two dear friends get married here and it was a really lovely experience. Super scorching hot though under the blazing August sun so wear your sunblock if you are coming here. Wish they had a more paved path to the ceremony area because I almost face planted while walking there in the sandy dirt lot.

Remember that «When Harry Met Sally» scene at Katz’s Deli, where another patron nods over at Meg Ryan and tells the waitress «I’ll have what she’s having»? Same thing here…
I really don’t know what this organization does, but they do it from one of the most beautiful locations on Earth. If somehow doing Audubon work can get me a waterfront property on Richardson Bay than hell, I want some of that!
I’ve now been here twice. First was chaperoning an elementary school field trip a number of years ago years. This time it was a corporate volunteer event where we worked to pull non-​natives and prepare the grounds for who knows what. I don’t really know what this had to do with birds, but okay.
Since I’m a bit hobbled at the moment, I took the time to sneak off and made my way down some stairs to the most serene little beach ever. I sat there and looked at the splendor of beauty splayed out before me. Later, our group was led on a mini-​hike up to the top of the property (more beauteous views) and to another little beach facing a different direction.
It’s free to come here and wander around (no dogs allowed though). It would be a perfect place to take small kids and let them play on those easily accessible, waveless beaches or to take a kid-​friendly ½ mile hike to the top of the hill. You get similar views down a ½ mile, at Blackie’s Pasture, but no little beach to spread a towel upon.

I work here, and let me tell you, what a fun place to work.
I do early-​childhood education programs, called Sandpipers and PLOVERS clases, catering 2 – 5 year olds, and their grown ups. Its a Fantastic program, with Spring and Fall sessions. I also work on elementary aged field trip programs.
The site is open for public use M-​S and has EXCELLENT views, and is a perfect stopping place on the marin bike loop circuit. Its a wildlife sanctuary, but we have resources available for education. Lots of stories, and backpacks, binoculars you can borrow, and a nice little ½ mile loop to explore. The lyford house is a great, historic building, and is muti-​use, renting for weddings/​other occasions, meetings. Its truly a stunning place to have an event.

I have no clue what they do at the Audubon center. I don’t really care.
I will tell you that they have amazing views of Sf and Marin. I was riding my paradise drive loop on my bike when I rode by this place. The house is stunning.
I owe it to myself to find out what they do. Some day. Some day.

I know absolutely nothing about birds, but when my friend suggested we go here recently I was game. This is a wildlife sanctuary particularly for bird life located along the Marin waterfront. There is a beautiful, historic Victorian building, the Lyford House which houses many pieces of art by Mr. Audubon himself. The views are spectacular here. Some of the grasses were a bit overgrown, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. Educational programs are also available for adults and kids.
