Rent-A-Parent Services

Rent a parent is a not a consistent or reliable source-​you pay a high fee, and get very little service. I was leaving my son for 4 days with a sitter and they never sent me a health or house questioner-​and then acted like I was all wrong and it was my fault after the fact. They clearly work on behalf of the sitter and not the paying customer-​and Diane has a horrible attitude if you give her any negative feedback. They really are not a service at all. When I was going through breast cancer I used them for help-​I wanted to meet with her to discuss my needs and she refused-​sent me a nanny that was double dipping, on her cell phone constantly and when I complained they did nothing. I say if you want mediocre (at best) help, use Rent-​a-​Parent, they could care less about you as a customer and will balk at any negative feedback.

I loved Rent A Parent! I was a babysitter for them this past year before I began graduate school at Columbia. From a sitters perspective it is a wonderful service. The office is incredibly helpful and accommodating with your schedule. All of the families I worked with were very nice and never had any crazy demands. They do a great job screening their sitters and take their selection process is very thorough. As a sitter, they also had a great emphasis on making sure that you feel safe being in every families home, and are incredibly supportive of you. If I hadn’t moved across the country I would definitely still be working with them!

As a busy working mom with two young children, I am SO relieved with having discovered Rent-​A-​Parent. I had heard so many Marin moms rave about the service over several years. It is run by local women who are well-​established and active in the community and care about local families. Because my kids already had the same sitter for years, it hadn’t occured to me to call them until recently. Even if you already have your own sitter too, you should get «plugged in» to Rent-​A-​Parent. There are no membership fees. You pay only when you use the service. They completely save you the time/​money of searching for someone and screening/​interviewing them yourself. I feel fortunate now having a saftey net if our regular sitter can’t make it, one of my children is sick and can’t go to school and I need to go to work, my husband and I want to go out in the evening, etc. The intake process was easy. And I found it fun discussing my personal preferences amongst their highly-​qualified, pre-​screened pool of candidates. I was so thrilled with the quality of the sitter who came (grew up in Marin, cultured, athletic, college grad, preparing to be a nurse, great rapport with children). Of course, if you need a sitter full-​time they have many, many candidates like her as well.

I am impressed with Rent-A-Parent’s service and dedication to their customers. They are professional and very knowledgeable about the do’s and don’ts in hiring a nanny. If you need babysitting services or a full-​time nanny, Rent-​A-​Parent are the people to call!

I have been using Rent-​a-​Parent for over 2 years now. We use them for watching our daughter mostly during date nights, when my wife and I go to a dinner and movie. My wife was very cautious about letting anyone watch our baby girl, mainly because we didn’t know a safe way to find someone reliable, trustworthy, and experienced (forget craigslist for that).
Rent-​a-​Parent sent a nanny who specialized in our daughter’s age group and they did wonderful with our daughter. I wouldn’t hesistate recommending their services to anyone seeking reliable, background-​checked, exeperienced childcare proffessionals.

We have used this service twice and it was a mixed bag. Our first experience was fine. The second time, we had to cut short a New Year’s Eve dinner because the babysitter overreacted, calling us home after one of our kids pretended to be sick (and really wasn’t), To make it even worse the sitter charged us her full fee for only working half of the time expected. We’re still steaming about it.
