Foods good but pretty standard, don’t expect to get your socks knocked off. Staff is very friendly and is probably most of the reason it holds the 4 star rating. For Mexican it hits the spot but really won’t impress.

This place is great! It’s a nice local place to go to when you don’t feel like making dinner yourself or are just in the mood to eat out. The service is always great. I give it 4 stars only because the food is pretty much like any other tex-mex restaurant. I’ve never had any problems with the food quality though. I definitely recommend!

I don’t understand the rave reviews. It’s mediocre American Mex at best. La Casita in Takoma Park is Salvadorian but close enough in flavored and an order of magnitude better in flavor.

What a great hole-in-the-wall joint! The food and service are both great, and the prices are extremely reasonable. They have happy hour deals — $ 3 margaritas, what a steal! Even if you don’t go for happy hour, you can still expect sensible margarita prices. The chorizo queso fondido is ooey gooey delicious and I’d definitely recommend trying it if they have it available(it’s worth it even if your stomach isn’t too happy afterwards). Also, I wouldn’t expect this place(or any Mexican restaurant for that matter) to have good salads, but their salads are really great. Their ingredients are fresh and tasty; my favorite was the strawberry kiwi salad.

I would have to say that Sierra Grill is the best Tex-Mex place around the Beltsville/Laurel area. Their food is always fresh and very authentic and they have a big drink selections, if you are a fan of margaritas or mojitos this is the place for you they make the best drinks. My wife and i moved to Beltsville 4 years ago and this restaurant is still our go to. The staff is always friendly and the owner is always there greeting people.

Food was underwhelming though the staff was friendly. It was marked as family friendly and though kids are welcome, I wouldnt label it as such. Usually I call«family friendly» to mean they have kid friendly foods like hot dogs, fries and chicken nuggets or tenders. Unfortunately this restaurant did not. I know my kids are too picky, but it is without kid foods my wife and I can’t enjoy our food.

Great little find tucked away in the back of a strip mall! I went there on a Sunday afternoon(prior to a late Redskins home game) for lunch. It was about 1pm, and the place was a bit busy(not very crowded). The room to the left as you walk in was full, but the other tables were basically empty. Our party of 8 had the run of the room we were seated in, which was right by the bar. The chips and salsa were okay, but the winner was definitely the salsa. It was fresh and ever-so-slightly spicy without being overwhelming. Pretty good as Mexican mom-and-pop shops go. For apps, we split some dishes, including the queso, the spinach quesadilla, and the chicken tacquitos. * QUESO: Pretty decent. A little grainy, with to some might be off-putting, but to me means they make it in-house, which I appreciated. The flavor was good, but nothing new here. As expected, but well done. * QUESADILLA: I really liked this one, actually. The sides with it were well complementing, and the spinach was flavorful and definitely a front row player. It was cheesy, but without being overpowering. Cohesive and well executed. * TACQUITO: Wow, nice! For once, a tacquito that isn’t overly greasy or way too crunchy to be palatable. The tortilla or whatever it was wrapped with was kind of puffy, actually, and it held up well to the frying process. The filling was fresh and flavorful, with cool sour cream, tangy/creamy guac, and salty/piquant salsa. I’d order these again in a second! For my entrée, I went a bit simpler with a taco salad. I’m not sure I agree with the nomenclature, but linguistic issues aside… It’s basically chips with toppings(not nachos, to be crystal clear about this one). They give you a lot(I couldn’t finish it)! I ordered mind with chicken. The meat was nicely flavored(could have used some salt, though), and the meat appeared to be breast meat. The chips themselves were just okay, but the toppings were very fresh(lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese). This is far from the filled bowl of crunchy tortilla madness that you might expect, but I think this is a much better alternative. I’d definitely order this again, too, if I’m in the mood for salad again. It was worth it. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and no one experienced an issue while we were there. That’s pretty good for a party of 8 on a Sunday afternoon. I have to give them props for their service and attention, too. Great job by the entire staff in handling our requests promptly. If I’m in the neighborhood, I’d be down to eat here again! It was not the absolute best I’ve ever had, but that’s a tough find in this area. Still, this was solid-good, and definitely worth a repeat visit!

Ordered cheese and chicken enchiladas with rice and refried beans on the side. The cheese was overcooked and the chunks of chicken were very dry and lacked flavor. The rice wasn’t flavorful but the beans were tasty. It’s hard to mess up refried beans. You can find better Mexican elsewhere…

Came here for lunch with a group of coworkers. Decent establishment. Décor is old and dated and chairs have stains but place doesn’t look dirty. When seated, the waitress quickly brought over tortilla chips and salsa. I’m no salsa fan but this salsa wasn’t thick. It was quite thin but others at the table enjoyed it. I asked for queso…3 different times. Never got my queso. Smh. Ok so ordered steak fajitas with side if black beans. They ONLY have refried beans… no pinto, no black. Smh again. Meal came out… looked at plate and said«where’s the beef?» Should’ve just called it onion fajitas. The entire plate lacked flavor, barely any meat and no fresh cochito(think that’s how it’s spelled). Overall… left disappointed and will stick with El Hidalgo which is closer to me anyway.

I’ve become a regular here over the past few months and my coworkers even longer. They treat their regulars with great respect as if we are all friends, definitely a plus in the customer service department. As I’ve gotten to try several more things on their menu, the most popular item amongst my coworkers is the steak and cheese burrito! 5⁄5 smothered in cheese. Steak taste great inside. I usually like to get their refried beans as a side, because that’s pretty damn delicious, too. Will definitely be staying a regular here.

Not so good to me. We ordered two blue moons, app of guac, carne asada and the three enchiladas. The complimentary salsa was pretty good. Totally different from anything we had so we were a little excited for the meal. Blue moons were 3.75 each. Guac was a whooping 7 $ for an ice cream SCOOP size, insane. Carne asada(14 $) was a 12 oz rib eye which didn’t seem close to 12 oz. It was a thin piece with a lot of fat. My fiancé requested med rare by it was basically rare. The outside had a grey brown color. Not charred or fried or anything. Because the piece was so thin the rareness didn’t bother him. My enchiladas(13 $?) were filled with ground beef, cheese and chicken. I love cheese but the cheese enchilada was was too cheesy for me. Beef tasted like Taco Bell beef. And chicken was just okay. I did enjoy the rice and refried beans. Over all just okay. We both are carne asada lovers and this place just didn’t do it for us. Prob won’t be coming back unless I was a basic Mex dish like tacos or something.

Driving to get lunch, I was thinking Wendy’s. Then I saw this on the side of the road and wanted to contribute to a local business. We are happy we did. 4.5 stars. My lunch companion can’t stop raving about his Mexican pizza. My chimichanga is better than expected. Nice crispy shell with lots of veggies! Good portion prices for $ 9 each. The salsa is really tasty as well. We will come back.

La Sierras was a middle of the road experience for me. The salsa is standard tex-mex restaurant salsa, edible for sure(ones that are just tomato soup tasting are inedible IMO) but I wouldn’t ask for seconds. We started with the churriso fundito, a cheesy, sausagey mix that came across a little bland. I’d like it better with a different cheese mix(like chihuahua instead of the monterrey/? mix) or with spicer sausage. I ordered the mexican style tacos with chicken, corn shells: check, onion and cilantro: check, but just grilled chicken. Would have been stellar with tinga styled chicken or better tasting salsa to give it that extra go. The margarita pitcher was an excellent value from a size/cost standpoint, but uses standard mix margarita that isn’t exciting enough for me to make it worth the calories.

#Best Salsa dip ever! Like Ever! Went to this place with family. Had a great time, great food and polite service. Delicious salsa and nachos to start of with followed by bean and rice burrito and Mexican Pizza! Wow! I would say that this is one of the best Mexican places I have been too! Satiated all my flavor cravings. I would definitely recommend this place to all my peers and will surely come back to this place! #HappyPuppy!

I’ve come here for family dinners, dinners with coworkers and lunches with coworkers. The food here is very tasty, the portion sizes are very good and there is plenty of seating. It can feel a bit cramped if you are with a large group. A few times when I have come here there’s been a bit of a soapy smell that can be strange. But personally… I’d rather it be soapy than another smell. Wait staff will keep bringing you as much chips and salsa as you want. The salsa is not overly spicy but does have a kick(it’s really tasty). The prices are decent(though every time I have come here the bill has been taken care of by somebody else). So you might say that I’m a bit biased as free food always tastes better. Though the food genuinely IS tasty. I’ve had taquitos here and enchiladas. Both were very good. Food is always served fresh/hot here. I think one person in my party had a minor issue with their dish but it was quickly and professionally taken care of. It’s a good stop if you are local to Calverton and looking for a nice sit-down place to have tex-mex. It’s not worth coming from a long distance to eat here, though. Being in the DC area there are so many options that are in the same category as Sierras Grill. No dig against this place, though. HEADSUP: Scammers like to frequent the parking lot for this restaurant. I’ve had the same scam attempted on me 4 times by the same man. He claims to be from a local fast casual restaurant like Five Guys and says his car is broken down. DONOT give him money. He’s a fraud!

Thanks to Unilocal,us out-of-towners found this hidden gem. Active dining area, great service, team wait-staff environment. The good is authentic Tex-Mex and delicious! The chili queso was a big hit! Our dinners included the beef nachos, chicken chimichanga, enchilada supreme and beef soft tacos. I was very pleasantly surprised that the prices were so reasonable. Margarita’s were made from scratch, too — no machine drinks!

Found Sierras thanks to Unilocal.Drove right by it using my nav system without seeing the place. Park in the shopping center then walk around to the front and you will see it. Not a dive by any means, but simple. Very friendly wait staff, got seated right away. They have four categories of margaritas, each with about 6 sizes(from 12 oz to 64 oz). The price difference is not all that much. Had a 16″ Cadillac(top end) for about $ 9. Pretty tasty, not too much syrupy«filler». Plenty of chips and interesting salsa were served. The salsa has lots of items in it, noticeably onions and cilantro. I normally don’t care for cilantro, but this was really good. Got the three enchilada plate for dinner. The cheese enchilada was a bit undercooked as the cheese was still hard, but the beef and chicken along with the rice and beans were decent. I’d definitely stop here again and would recommend it.

I was enticed by Jerry S.‘s review even though I am not a meat eater. I love quaint Mexican places. Even better, there was a Groupon for this place a couple of months ago. It wouldn’t be hard to spend $ 30 if I brought my pal. We started with the cheese empanadas. Four small hot treats for $ 5.00. Not bad, but could have used more filling. Also, they reminded us of Totino’s pizza rolls. I ordered the fish tacos($ 14), my second favorite Mexican food after quesadillas. I didn’t realize they were DIY tacos. After retreading the description, I realized that was what I was suppose to get. As shown interest photo, I received two large tilapia fillets atop three tortillas with the usual accompaniments. The fish was good, but I would not order this again because I am a traditionalist, and I like cabbage and chipotle sauce on mine. Don’t judge me, but I love California Tortilla’s version. My friend ordered the two street tacos($ 8) — one chicken, one steak. She really liked them. We shared the dessert pictured. It was good, but I am a chocolate kind of gal. All in all, we got a lot of food for $ 34, made even more affordable thanks to Groupon.

I LOVE this restaurant! Actually this is the best Mexican food ever to me. I ordered beef enchiladas and empanadas. Taste, amount are perfect. Room and tables are clean, the owner is friendly. I enjoyed talking to him because I wanted to tell him how good their food is. I highly recommend this place and of course I am going to come back to eat.
