This is an overall rating based on about 20 visits. I’m here twice a week, mainly because of the selection and lunch time pricing. Sadly; I’ve grown to expect the food to be only warm. Given that being said… Service is fast and friendly with only having to do plate removal and drinks(since it’s a buffet). However; today, the food was cold. So cold that for the first time I actually used the microwave they have out there to reheat your food. I also complained to the manager that the food was cold, and that I’m in here often, and given that today was a holiday(increased pricing), if I’m going to pay that increase the food better be hot. Today’s visit cost them a ticket price reduction of $ 11(on a two person bill, $ 26.xx became a flat $ 15) and prompted this review. Tip: Don’t go before noon. The large steam tables need time to heat up. If you go before noon time just know that your food will be cold.

I came here for dinner. Awesome buffet restaurant. They had Chinese, American and Japanese food. A lot of varieties to choose from. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. No complaints at all. Definitely go back again if I m in the area. Keep up the good work!

The food is OK, service not at all! I was in there today and they’re just so rude. They stand there and watch you eat, then I get ready to pay, and I get my money out, the bill was $ 14.20, I gave her $ 15, and then she gives me this dirty look. I tell her keep the change, and she just takes the lack folder thing with both hands and slams it shut on the money and walks off, I just get up and leave at that point. I’m all done there. I eat there once every moth or so, but from now on I’ll go to McDonalds if I want something fast. I’m only giving this 2 stars because the food isn’t all that bad.

So I am a New Yorker who visited this place and chowed down on some good stuff! Check it out! The Décor: Very cosmopolitain and simplistic. Nice pale egg colors on the walls modern tiled floors, wooden smooth tables Very nice blue lighting and asian accented décor along the walls. I likey! :) The Food: Love the soups they have available. Very good YUMMY! Love their orange beef dish and their sesame chicken too. The Fried rice is definitely New York style and very good. They have a large variety that didn’t leave me bored. I wanted to come back for more and more but they probably would of throw me out for cleaning out the place! LOL! :) The Drinks: The have fountain drinks and other great delights available. Nice to go with your meal. I could drink all day but then they would probably throw me out too because I am not thinking of the other customers! LOL! Hey I love food! I am a food slut! :) The Service: My hostess was absolutely fantastic! She was very kind and a true professional. Your greeted with a smile and she serviced me with grace. A wonderful welcome especially when some places just don’t care and treat you like you stoled something! She made me feel comfortable. Very soft spoken and absolutely wonderful! I appreciate that. Makes me want to come back again. :) Conclusion: I recommend that you visit New Hong Kong Buffet because its a great spot to get your belly nice and full like I did and not spend a ton of money on stuff that would make you want to get a flame thrower and BBQ the place! ! Happy Eating!!! :)

KEEPAWAY!!! Should be shut down! I do not expect too much out of Chinese food places in this area, but this is beyond unacceptable! Dirty, rundown and the food just did not taste right. It is sad when you have to leave a buffet hungry because you do not trust the food.

The plus side I guess is the amount of options and the variety of foods they serve, the down side is almost all of them are bland. It’s not even like a «this food is gross» it’s more like a «this food has little to no flavor in it». I did not experience rude staff however as said by other reviewers, in fact they all appeared to be very friendly and courteous. so it’s not the service that gets the bad rating, neither the pricing, nor the atmosphere. Because all of them were A-Ok in my book, it’s just the food that would make me not return here.

Its just okay. Ive been to hundreds of chinese places and this one was middle of the road. Certainly not the worst by any means. 80 percent of the buffet choices were very good but finding choices that were hot and hadnt been sitting for awhile was hard to find

I agree with Kristina! The food is terrible, and the waitstaff are extremely RUDE. The last time we went there, the waitress hovered over us the entire time we were eating, waiting for us to pay the bill. When I started counting out my money, she actually stood over me, ready to snatch it up, and she kept asking me «all set? are you ready?» I finally had to tell her to please give me a minute! At that point she moved about five feet away and glowered at me while I finished counting my money. Fortunately I had the exact change, so that was all I put in… NOTIP. I don’t give a tip for poor service where you have to be aggravated while trying to have dinner!

Located at the Belknap Mall next to Jo-Ann Fabrics. New Hong Kong Buffet offers over 100 items on this Chinese American buffet for lunch and dinner, which is a pretty good selection of food for the area. Coke fountain drinks, as well as beer, mixed and frozen fruit drinks are offered. There are 3 hot buffet stations, 1 cold buffet station, sushi bar, and dessert table. The offerings on the buffet may include: CHINESE: vegetable lo mein, pork fried rice, white rice, fried fish, shrimp & vegetables, salt & pepper shrimp, pepper steak, beef & mushrooms, Gen. Tso’s chicken, coconut chicken, string beans, scallion pancake, fried dumplings, egg foo young, vegetables, crab rangoons, chicken fingers, chicken teriyakis, salmon, lobster meat rolls, spring rolls, egg rolls, soups(wonton, hot & sour) SUSHIBAR AMERICAN: seafood in cheese, spinach & cheese, pigs in blanket, hot dog wrapped in bacon, chicken nuggets, chicken wings, onion rings, cheese mussels, stuffed mushrooms, mac & cheese), crab legs(dinner only), cold salads(seafood salad, pasta, cucumber salad, marinated mushrooms) DESSERTS: 10 flavors of hard ice cream(Wholesome Farms), fruit, jellos, puddings, small cakes, cookies, Chinese donuts, hot apple pie, sugar nuts, & gum drops. I had a late lunch here recently during the mid afternoon(3PM) when the place was not that busy and before the price goes up to $ 11.50 for dinner at 4PM. Most of the items on the buffet was stocked with only a few items almost empty. The temperature of the food ranged from hot to only lukewarm, though most of the food was not dried out. I sampled many items(but not all) on the buffet and the most of the food was alright for a Chinese American buffet, though nothing really outstanding. I did enjoy the soups on the buffet including the wonton soup(big wontons) and hot & sour soup(lots of mushrooms, onions, tofu, egg, bamboo, & spices), which were both steaming hot. The sushi rolls were decent, covered over with plastic wrap to keep moisture. The pork fried rice(with pork, peas, carrots, onions) was slightly salty. The vegetable lo mein noodles were nice & firm. The wrapping for both the egg roll & spring roll seemed thick. The shrimp, crab stick & mixed vegetables was hot & fresh. The pigs in blankets(small hot dog wrapped in puff pastry) were pretty good. The pasta salad(tri color rotini) was oily, as were the marinated mushrooms. The banana pudding was very sweet. The fresh fruit(watermelon & oranges) was refreshing for dessert. The service was acceptable with the used plates cleared away while I was getting more food at the buffet. I ordered a pot of hot tea(complementary) which lasted the entire meal without refill.
