This salon is fantastic and it’s right here in Bellmore!
Sebastian is the only person that is allowed to come near my hair with scissors LOL. He gives me the best haircut possible every time. I was referred to him by a friend and I have been hooked ever since. Not only are his haircuts amazing, but his blow outs are equally amazing. I get blowouts occasionally, but they are always the best from him. He is also an absolute doll.
We are growing my hair out now – trims every 3 months. #teamwork #teamsebastian
I also referred my Aunt here – she’s now also hooked on Sebastian.
The service here is always good too. They offer me tea or some beverage upon arrival. The people here are warm and friendly and also fun.

This review is long over due. I have been a customer for a very long time at Metro Modes. A month ago I had spine surgery and I have many restrictions. One restriction is no bending. I called and asked to speak to Dave. He had a wonderful idea. I came in and Dave colored my hair and I went home and 30 minutes later I rinsed the color out in my shower. Not only is Dave so talented in coloring, he cares about his clients. He made me feel better about myself as I recover from surgery.

Dave is my colorist and Rita is my stylist. I can’t say enough good things about them. I lost count at how many compliments i get regarding my cut and color. They are very professional and knowledgeable and i always leave there feeling satisfied and pampered. They both offer honest opinions which make me feel like they truly care. I live in Queens and i come all the way to Metromodes because of the amazing service that i get there. Let’s not forget the lovely Annalisa and the ladies up front, always so helpful and friendly.

Very good hair salon. Highlights came out great. But blowout was horrible, probably done by a student. Not a big deal, since everything else was perfect. Just next time will ask someone else to do it.

I have been going here forever! Any time I have had to try another place, I regretted it. Laura is amazing and takes care of my short hair perfectly. She is creative and always gives me a new look. i walk out of this salon feeling amazing, that’s what a great haircut should feel like each time. Everyone is personable and attentive to anything you need. There talents and professional staff is why this business has withstood the test of time.

The salon is right near my house and I never really went in there too much but I know that my friends go there religiously and love it. After getting a bad haircut somewhere I went to Tara for a blowout and I explained what happen with my hair and she did a little fixing up and said come back to me and will fix what happened and she knew exactly the problem. Well I’ve been going to her ever since and I absolutely love her and she fixed my hair to even better than what I had before the bad haircut. She is such a doll I wouldn’t hesitate to use her for hair or make up for any occasion. She has also cut my daughters hair she loves her. I have also gone to Stephanie and Joe as well and they did great for me when Tara was not available.
The shampoo people are the best around. It’s like a relaxation treatment when you go into that shampoo room. And what I love is they will do a deep conditioner for 15 minutes or longer and they won’t charge you any extra money for doing that when a lot of salons charge you $ 25 for something like that. The girls at the front desk are complete sweethearts. I also like I can make my appointments online. Sometimes with my schedule it’s easier to do it that way.

Metro modes is amazing! The best part of metro modes are Rita and Kyle!
Rita– has been doing my hair for a few years now! She is awesome! She makes you feel and look beautiful! She is very up to date on trends and new looks! Most importantly, she listens to her clients! I love her!
Kyle– is the master of color!!! He has an amazing personality and his skills are magical!!! He made me look and feel wonderful! His personality is electrifying !!! Such a great person!
I have never ever met anyone else who is so dedicated to their craft as much as Rita and Kyle!
Go to metro modes and ask for RITA and KYLE!

The reason I didn’t give this five stars because it’s crazy expensive and it just keeps getting more expensive for a damn haircut. However I love Michael he’s the only reason I go there he cuts my hair exactly how I want it and never more he’s absolutely amazing I drive 25 minutes away just for him.

I got my hair done by Joe for my best friends wedding. It was amazing he did such a beautiful job. I was so happy and felt so beautiful. The hair was art!

You don’t get any better than Kyle’s hair coloring or Michael’s hair styling!!! Love this place!!!

I’ve been going to this place for a year or two now. I’m a loyal client of Sebastian’s. I’ve been very happy coming to this salon. I always get great customer service. The receptionists are always very smiley and helpful, all the assistants are great and give an awesome shampoo, and Seb himself is amazing. I have hair for DAYS and he always gets my layers right, I never walk out of there feeling like he chopped my hair to death. He keeps my hair very healthy and I’m so grateful to him. He also always has funny stories to tell so that just adds to the experience. In my opinion this is a great salon! More people should go. Only thing I’ll say, and this is to the owners: your salon needs a little love. You have some amazingly talented stylists but the salon itself is out of date. Give it a paint job and throw down some nice new floors, I promise you your customers will love it, and your staff will appreciate working in a beautiful salon they can be proud of! But other than that, no concerns or suggestions. Happy customer. Keep it up you guys.

I went here on tuesday morning to see my good friend Kyle and get my roots highlighted. He always does a great job and i was having a really bad day and he made it much better. Im with Caitlin, everyone there is super nice and friendly but the place is very much in need of repairs, everything looks kinda old, but hey i look good so whatever,

Alan and Stephanie do an amazing job on my hair. I go once a month and they are always accommodating no matter how daunting my requests are. People actually stop me on the street to compliment my hair cut and color. They are the best!

BEWARE PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU GET YOUR HAIRCUT HERE!!! I have a funky haircut, one side and the back shaved… I go to a barber shop to maintain my shaved side. I get my longer side cut once a year just to shape it. I usually cut my hair myself, but I wanted a specific look and couldn’t do it myself. I originally went to the hair salon I’ve been going to since I was 12, and she butchered my hair! My birthday was in 2 days, so I went into complete panic mode. I just wanted fix my hair because I’m anal about my hair and was impatient… I couldn’t just deal with my not so bad haircut. ANYWAY TO THE POINT… My mother’s hair stylist has a similar haircut to mine and referred me to this Metro modes. I immediately called to schedule an appointment and the bubbly receptionist advised that KELLY was excellent and would fix my hair no problem. I went and was greeted by a friendly receptionist the place was run down in some areas the bathroom ceiling looked like it was going to collapse and the entire space needed to be renovated and to be polished up a bit, but besides that the salon was decent looking. Kelly greeted me and seemed kind of slow, she has ugly hair that looked like a kindergarden student threw 4 different hair dyes in her hair, it was horrid looking (which should have been a red flag) she was sloppy looking, had unflattering clothes on and honestly looked like she rolled out of bed… but still I trusted that she would do a good job especially since the haircut started at 52 $ not including a blow out which I didn’t need. I explained in detail exactly what I wanted and EMPHASIZED that I WANTED TO KEEP MY HAIR LONG ENOUGH TO PUSH BEHIND MY EARS AND TO BE ABLE TO FLAT IRON AND CURL MY HAIR. I explained I didn’t mind if she cut it short as long as it wasn’t too short where I couldn’t manage my own hair. This woman started cutting away and doing I dont know what, but wasn’t doing quite what I wanted… so I tried to guide her so I could have a beautiful or acceptable result. She kept cutting away and I noticed my hair was all gone! My hair was up to my neck when I arrived, now it was above my eyebrow and my bangs were past my eyes and I have before pictures to prove it! I told her she cut it too short and Kelly has the audacity to give ME an attitude while I was explaining to her that she didn’t listen to what I wanted. She rudely suggested to have someone else help me and tried to tell me she didn’t touch my bangs when she clearly did! They were past my eyes now they were above my eyebrows!!! Now I’m teary eyed and trying to keep my composure and the owner walks up me with an attitude and tried to tell me she heard me telling Kelly what I wanted and tried to defend her incompetent employee. I calmly advised her that all I wanted was to have my hair LONG ENOUGH TO PUSH BEHIND MY EARS AND TO BE ABLE TO FLAT IRON AND CURL MY HAIR. Her attitude changed (especially once she saw how much I was crying, I know I’m so pathetic) and she apologized and said I wouldn’t be charged and that she was sorry and if I chose to come back they could fix it once it grew a bit, since my hair was so short. I was hysterical because now my birthday is Tomorrow and I have this horrible haircut. Thankfully, my barber is amazing at what he does and he fixed my hair and made it lay nicer and evened it out all for 10 $! DONT EVER GO TO METRO MODES! They have horrible customer service, Kelly treated me horribly after she ruined my hair, instead of humbly apologizing and telling me that she might have misunderstood me when I explained what I wanted. Now I barely have any hair thanks to this horrible unprofessional hair stylist, with a rotten attitude!

This review only gets two stars because of the lovely ladies at the front desk. They are always incredibly helpful, nice and genuinely care about the clients experience.
If it wasn’t for them, I would give this place a negative star review if possible.
I went to Metromodes on the suggestion of a relative/​Bellmore resident who claims to see it very busy all the time. I enjoyed its proximity to my own home so gave it a chance.
Note: I have very dark brown hair and have been getting blonde highlights for about 15 years now. In between I was a double process for 3 – 4 years. I like my hair very blonde and know what is capable of being done/​how to explain to colorists what I like.
Time #1
I told the colorist (whose name I will not mention as I fear this review will take a turn for the nasty, and this is her career; please message me and I will be glad to share her name with you) my history and to make me as blonde as possible with many thin blonde highlights. She assured me she would make me the blondest and proceeded. I trusted her. This is her occupation.
Highlights/​Blowout Complete: I looked in the mirror and found myself well up in anger. I took a breathe, and approached the front desk. There was a very distinct difference in color where she thinly and sparsely highlighted my roots compared to the rest of my hair. It looked like a shadow. Plus her highlighting was sloppy and bled in certain spots making globby stains of color. I calmly pointed this all out to the front desk woman who kindly scheduled me in for free for a followup/​fix. FINE. I dealt with the crap hair for a week. When I returned and gave this colorist another chance, she seemed to put in just as many highlights as the first time but did give me just enough highlights to keep me happy.
Time #2
Figuring she knew what I wanted/​liked, I gave her another chance. Everyone deserves a second chance right? NO.
Despite me reminding her at the start of the last two times I came and reiterating how blonde I wanted to be, she did an even poorer job than the first time. More globbly bled bleach, a shadow atop my head and an obvious gradient of color due to lack of blending.
Well I lost it and went straight to the front desk with my annoyance. As expected, they were very nice, reassuring and offered another appointment. I nicely told them I should not have to come back again, after we already dealt with this. Plus I would rather not damage my hair further. I complained a bit more about the colorist’s lack of competency and listening skills and left.
Like an asshole, I felt bad about my complaint and called and apologized (they did not remember me anyway) a week or two later. I am an asshole. This colorist deserves to be demoted to hair washer.

I come here exclusively to get the keratin treatments by Linda. It’s a long process but worth it! With her advice on hair care afterwards my treatment lasts for almost 11 months! Linda is super sweet and an awesome hairstylist. She was recommended and now I know why!

I’ve been going here to get my hair highlighted by Dave since I was in the 9^th grade! (I’m 28 now!!) He’ the most talented!!! I get more compliments on my hair all the time! He’s honest and won’t let you ever walk out of there looking stupid!
It’s a little pricy but definitely worth everything they do!

I love getting my haircuts and beard trimmed up here. They always do really high quality jobs and I love the conversation I have with the guy who does my hair. It’s a really big place as hair places go (at least to me). They have parking in a tiny lot in front and on the side of the store but you usually have to find a spot on a side street, which is sometimes really hard to do. It’s really a very high trafficked place.
They give pretty nice head massages as they shampoo and condition your hair before you sit down for the cut. I’m a sucker for a good head massage.
My only qualm is that it is so expensive! It’s $ 38 a cut for me before tip for my guy. However, the service and the quality of the job he does is top notch. I shouldn’t complain.
I am definitely not their standard clientele. I am a male in his 20s. They seem like more of a place for women from high school and up with the occasional child.
What the hell, I’m still a fan of this place.
