History
Established in 1992.
In 1992, volunteers committed to «rehumanizing conflict» founded the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center and, in 1993, the DRC for Whatcom County was established under RCW 7.75. Nearly 23 years later, we continue to envision a community that values civil dialogue over vitriolic debate, that provides resources for divorcing parents ensuring that dissolution does not harm their children, where instead of adversarial court proceedings we can reach lasting solutions, and where our schools have access to workshops to build skills in young people to work through disagreement in safe and healthy ways. While conflict and violence increasingly permeates the media, our homes, and our community, we work diligently to meet the evolving needs of Whatcom County.
With a mission of providing and promoting constructive and collaborative approaches to conflict the WDRC offers mediation, training, facilitation, community education, coaching, and supervised visitation services.
