Tim Slesk – State Farm Insurance Agent

I came here because it was convenient and close to my work. The agents here are very caring and provided me with great service.
The agent I worked with really took the time to make sure I was properly protected. So, not only did I save money, but I found out I wasn’t properly covered for all these years! My experience with this office has been wonderful! I would recommend them 100%!

They are getting one star because it’s not possible to get negative stars. 15 yrs ago my husband and I were newly married, I was only 18, my husband 19. We signed up with State Farm through Tim’s office because my grandpa worked for State Farm for more than 40 yrs and I figured we could trust them. Even after we moved to Kent, we did all our business still with Tim’s office, because they were so nice and helpful. Always remembered me. Had our renters insurance with them too. Then, somewhere around 2005 – 2007 my apt manager sold me his newly deceased wife’s scooter/​moped. It was old and didn’t run well, but I had been on disability leave since 2003 and I had a hard time getting out of the house. To even get dressed. But I’m from a family of bikers, so I was excited. It was just 50cc, went 35 top. But it gave me something. A couple days after I got it, I went crap! Insurance. So I called Tim’s office. It’s been a while so I’m not positive, but the name Lisa is stuck in my head, so maybe that’s who I spoke to. I’m not sure of the name. But I am sure that after telling her about my new toy and giving her all the details, she told me that I couldn’t get a policy on it, that no one insured scooters under 150cc, which is when you need a motorcycle permit. She told me that the scooter, being only 50cc, is insured like a bicycle. Under my renters insurance, which was also with them. She told me to just keep the receipt, but as that one goes (it was almost 20yrs old) I probably wouldn’t get much. Eventually the thing gave out, and time passed. My health got worse at one point and I was in a couple accidents, in between multiple hospitalizations for near fatal issues. In the meantime, StFarm raised our insurance super high, and we had to switch to progressive for our auto. StFarm still had the cheapest renters, even though it went up with our move. By 2013 I was finally showing physical improvement, but mentally I was a mess. Fighting for my life for a decade had taken a major toll. Remembering from before, my hubby borrowed from his 401k and bought me a scooter, a 2007 that had never been used. It was beautiful and I felt so lucky to have a guy like him. Of course, it being a 50cc, we didn’t get auto insurance on it, although my husband updated our renters to cover it. And I started getting out, going for short rides, then longer, and before we knew it, I was cleared to return to work. And that scooter and I were inseparable. I rode it during winter, I rode it after I was ran off the road and broke my arm and permanently screwed up my shoulder. Then, 2 weeks ago, coming home from a job interview in Seattle, where I couldn’t get to on my bike, I looked over to make sure it was ok, and it was gone. It wasn’t anywhere in the large apt complex, wasn’t towed, it was stolen. I did what you do, I called the police, alerted the bike shops, etc… And after a week, I called Tim’s office and told them what happened and I wanted to file a claim. They said that I didn’t have auto insurance on it, and I explained what I had been told. We played phone tag a couple days and I finally got to talk to Tim. He said that I must have misunderstood, and that no notes were in my file. I told him what I was told. I explained just how much that scooter meant to me, and how there is no way in hell I could replace it, so if I was told that I needed auto insurance I damn well would have gotten the insurance. I said that some one in his office had told me this, had assured me many times that this is how scooters are insured. And since I was with these exact people for 15 years, so I trusted her. I trusted them. And if she was wrong, that’s not my fault, and I told Tim that he had to stand up and honor what his employee had promised me. I was actually in the middle of talking about it with him when he hung up on me. I waited less than a minute and then called him back, only to be told he was on an important call, but he would call me back when it was over. That was last week and I haven’t heard back from him yet. So I’m going public. I’m tired of being lied to and screwed over. He is taking advantage of my illness that makes it so I don’t remember the date and I think it’s Lisa, maybe Tina… But I do know what I was told, even repeated it to other people. I have been loyal to them for 15 years, and this is the loyalty I get in return? Bullshit. So, I would have to say, negative 3500 stars, which is the price of my lost bike I will never have the money to replace, and negative 15, the number of years I have been giving them my money without ever making a claim. Well, now Tim has to step up. His office, his employee, made a statement when asked about something on behalf of the company. His company. Now he has to honor it. I’ve kept up my end. Had great luck with them in the beginning, but when staff changed they failed to get our large policy in place as promised, and didn’t even know it had to be rewritten annually.

These people are fantastic! I’ve had great service always with State Farm, but this agency (which I discovered on Unilocal) has taken customer service to a new level. The whole office has a culture of excellence, customer savings with optimal coverage. Most of my dealings have been with Kimberly, and also Adrienne. Tim himself has been wonderful and so have the others in this office. They have won over my entire insurance portfolio: house, two cars, and short-​term medical. God bless them all!

Tim personally dealt with a business insurance issue for me. His customer service skills were friendly and exceptional. He made my business his priority.
State Farm has carried my auto and home insurance for nearly twenty years. In all those years, Tim is the first State Farm agent to show personalized interest in my business. As a new resident in Bellingham, I feel that Tim has my insurance needs covered. I look forward to many years of business with him.
