I could tell you all about the top notch shisha direct from Dubai, or the hand painted hookahs from Egypt (We know a guy who knows a guy who robbed a guy), but that shit is boooooooring. Every hookah bar has shisha and hookahs, but not all hookah bars have flavor. The Cobra Lounge has mad flavor.

The other hookah bars are playing checkers, we’re playing chess. We’re playing chess while simultaneously playing mahjong and busting out a face melting solo on a sick double neck flying V guitar.

I’m going to go draw a picture of a dinosaur doing what I just described. You should stop by The Cobra Lounge and make some new friends.

Some essential details:

$ 5 for a one year membership. Everyone needs one but that’s only 1.4 cents a day. You can afford that.

18 and over and everyone needs ID. Doesn’t matter how old you are. No government issued ID, no hookah.

Cash only. Like Randy Moss. Straight cash homie.

History

Established in 2007.

We are really quirky guys, who shudder at the thought of normalcy and a status quo. When we decided to open, our first step was to make a list of all the things we hated about hookah bars. Instead of the usual overpriced pseudo Middle Eastern bullshit we tried to build memorable experiences for the members… from the nationally recognized graffiti art, down to the custom cobra hoses. We put fun little details into everything, a result of the ethos that mainstream is boring. Every type of person feels comfortable kicking it at the lounge, which is exactly the idea. Our regulars understand the awesomeness and originality of the lounge as more and more Starbucks spring up. Fashionable people, college kids, artists, thugs, indie rockers, skaters, young adults, and sneaker heads all come down in droves to support this effort to resist conformity. This all didn’t happen over night, we didn’t get lucky with some random idea. We got off our asses and started something we care about…

First hookah bar I’ve been to and enjoyed it. $ 5 for a lifetime membership, and around $ 20 for a good bowl. If you go with 3+ people then the price is super reasonable and gives you a chance to relax and hang out. Drinks are super overpriced and the music is super loud. Overall I enjoyed myself — something different from smoking my friend’s hookah in his living room.

It’s a shame the two reviews on here were written by haters. I visited here with my girlfriend and we both had a great experience; it was her first hookah, but I’m an old hand at it.
Washington State law only allows hookah smoking in a members-​only club establishment, so you have to spend a measly $ 5 to become a bona-​fide member for life. I guess some cheaper Unilocalers aren’t ballin’ on a budget, but if you can’t scrape together cino pesos, then you might as well give the car keys back to your mom and finish your high school homework.
As far as the actual prices go, they were decent considering the fact that Bellingham has a population close to the high school enrollment numbers at an inner city campus. (and my graduating class in Miami was probably bigger than the population of neighboring Blaine…)
They have a solid mix of tobacco (shisha) flavors and they keep the hookahs clean. Considering this is in the Pacific Northwest, and not the Khan el-​Khalili souk in Mar, they do a good job.

Expensive, but still fun. I enjoy The Cobra Lounge for what it is, but when I can save money by hookah’ing myself… Still, it’s a cool spot, and the magicians are entertaining.
