Netos Market and Bakery

I lived in the Southwest twenty years, mostly on the Border. When I moved up here I did not expect to find a store where I could shop for the Mexican ingredients I was used to. I was mistaken. Netos Market has everything one needs to fill any Mexican food recipe. Their small dining area serves authentic Mexican food, the everyday comfort food I was used to having on the Border. They have a well stocked supply of pan dulce and Mexican candies. Their tortillas and tamales are made on site. I was impressed with the perky personality of the young girl cashier, and the relaxed and friendly attitude of the other staff members I saw. Overall, it was a pleasant experience shopping there, and I intend to become a regular customer.

So thankful to Unilocal for showing me the light. Finally got good mexican food after many years in the wilderness. In California or Texas, eating this kind of food wouldn’t really be that special. But to eat this just south of the 49^th parallel is quite special indeed. And at such ridiculously low prices. Half their menu is probably under $ 7. Everything is made in house and fresh. Love it. I could eat this every day for a few weeks.

I’ll admit… I’m a Mexican food snob. Having owned condominiums in Mazatlan since the 1980’s I’ve availed myself of Mexican cuisine that far exceeds the melted cheese and flour tortilla fare that is often passed off as «authentic». My first bite of chili relleno at Netos transported me south of the border, with the flavors that I had thought I would not taste again without traveling to Mexico again.
Although I’ve not tried all of the dishes on their menu, I anxiously look forward to returning to try their other offerings. The surroundings may not be fancy, but it’s also the most extensively stocked collection of Mexican grocery items that I’ve found in Bellingham.

Absolutely the best Mexican food in town. I usually have the huarache, fresh grilled tortilla with marinated pork, cactus, onion, lettuce and queso fresco all for $ 5.99. Their tacos are amazing and burritos are huge. They also have a nice variety of Mexican groceries. The saddest part of my review is that alas I am gluten intolerant, and thus although the amazing bakery products smell and look wonderful, I cannot comment upon their taste, however a friend of mine says they are awesome.

What a fun find. A humble neighborhood concern that serves as a market, bakery, and restaurant. Affordable homemade flavorful Mexican food and sundries. Their green and red sauces have kick and aren’t diluted for the American palate. Spirit workers can even purchase a few magic supplies here.

I love this place. The market has some items I can’t find anywhere else like their sweets and dried spices. The panaderia and their homemade flan is amazing. Their food prices are reasonable and good portion sizes. I’ve had the Huarache and enchiladas and both are very good.

What a delight! This morning, my son and I happened into the most charming, neighborhood restaurant — Neto’s Market and Bakery. All of the dishes are depicted on the menu, and the staff are attentive and helpful. We tried the cheese pupusas, pork tamales, chicken tacos and beef burrito to taste a variety of flavors. The prices are inexpensive, the seating area is neat and clean and it wasn’t crowded. Next time, I want to order the chile rellenos and shop in the little store! Hasta Pronto, Amigos!

Everyone working there was super friendly. Lots of choices, and the prices are really affordable. Really enjoyed the asada huarache and the meat was super tender, and a great dinner.

First of all, you can see then preparing the meal and all the dough from the inside and outside of the building. The aroma is amazing. We ordered the tamales and enchiladas. The sauce is all homemade. And, the sides of refried beans, crema, rice and lettuce is all expertly paired. It is very reasonable and the staff is very friendly. It reminded my friend of being back in San Diego. Will definitely go there again when we visit.

I swear to all that is holy, this place has the best motherfucking Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life. I live on the other side of town, and I drive here at least twice a week to eat.

Stopped in for lunch after a Unilocal search and couldn’t have been happier. Super friendly cashier and incredible fresh Mexican. The homemade flour tortillas alone made it worthwhile. Like other Unilocalers, I tried the chile rellano and total (with a Jarritos soda) was just at $ 9. I’ll definitely be back to try other things on the menu of this little gem.

I love these type of places the little mom and pop market with the little lunch counter to the back you better be quick noon time to grab a table you don’t they charge you a dollar for taking the food out in a little to go bag. great flavor on the carnitas overall can’t wait I can go back and eat again

OMG, this is a very simple, family place, with terrific food. I could not believe it. I cant wait to go back.

Ordered the chile relleno and it was very very good. Accompanied by beans, rice, and four tortillas. Rice was fair. Excellent service, friendly staff! Would return, probably for a burrito the next time.

This place is awesome! If you’re in the wood hood and need a quick grocery item, or live in Bellingham and want an awesome burrito these friendly people are there to help you out! Their food is delicious and they’re extremely well priced. Very friendly!!!

Found this place on a whim while we were passing by Bellingham on our way to Seattle. I needed to find something quick and Neto’s was the first and best thing that popped up. It’s a cute shop with some Mexican groceries as well as delicious food. I had the Papusas and my husband had the Chile Relleno. Both were delectable! The salsa (especially the red) was to die for. The spice levels were optimum and we couldn’t get enough. If only we weren’t flying back home we would have bought a bunch of that salsa to take back home. Definitely great Mexican food, in a place quite far from Mexico! It’s very authentic.

Amazing food, I will certainly be back soon. Today was my first time at Neto’s, and it was great.
My favorite Mexican food dish is the Chile Relleno (see photo), so when I try a new Mexican restaurant the Relleno is the first thing that I order. Neto’s came though as the best restaurant Chile Relleno that I have had in a very long time.
The Relleno came with small salad, rice, beans and 4 fresh made (flour or corn) tortillas. This was more than enough food for lunch, the red sauce on the relleno really brought out the flavor of the pepper. The Relleno was filled with plenty of cheese.
The service was fast and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable.
The seating area is nothing fancy, (photo attached), but the food is excellent.
This is a small restaurant in a convenience store. One thing that was nice is that they sell their fresh tortillas to go, so you can pick them up to take home.
This may have just become my new favorite lunch restaurant.

This fabulous little hole-​in-​the-​wall restaurant is definitely on our «come back soon» list! The food is home cooked, authentic, delicious and inexpensive, the tables area is super clean, and the people who work there are really friendly and helpful. They speak both English and Spanish and were very patient with my attempts to order in Spanish.
We ordered a chile verde platter (one of the specials that day). It included a side of rice and beans, and five super fresh warm tortillas, which we think are made on the premises. We also ordered a huarache because we had never had one of those before and another Unilocaler recommended it (thanks, Ed I — it really was as delicious as you said!). The total tab was less than $ 20 including tax and tip. The portion size was not ginormous but was completely sufficient. We debated whether to get an order of pupusas but decided not to as we didn’t want to succumb to gross pigatude. We’ll just start with those next time.
The food is brought to you in the smallish seating area (unless of course you order it to go). Even though the food is served on very sturdy paper plates, the cutlery is real metal. They also bring you three different squeeze bottles of hot sauce/​salsa (green, red, and spicy red). Frankly, though, this food was so delicious we could easily have eaten it without any additional salsa.
Neto’s and La Gloria are run by the same family so they’ve got Bellingham covered with delicious and inexpensive authentic Mexican casual fare. Neto’s is in NW Bellingham, less than 10 minutes (about 2 or 3 miles) from Bellingham International Airport and is open from 7:30 am to about 9:30 pm every day. In addition to the restaurant, they also have a bakery (they bake everything right there) as well as a convenience/​grocery store on site. The store side includes a whole section filled with different varieties of dried chiles — the most extensive variety I have seen outside of New Mexico. They also sell the corn husks (to make tamales), masa flour, dried beans, and the like. But who wants to cook this stuff at home when these awesome people can make it so perfectly for you?
We intend to «run the menu» at this place — try everything at least once. I guess we’ve got our research cut out for us!

My wife had the Chili Rellenos and I had a couple of tacos. She said they were about the best rellones she’d ever eaten. My tacos were small (5-​inch) soft tacos but were very good. The prices are very reasonable, the food is fabulous and it’s very clean. Definitely going here again.

I am Mexican and this is the first authentic place I have found close to Bellingham. Try the Huarache de adobada.
