I shop at Hardware Sales when I want EXCELLENT customer service and advice OR if I want something unusual. Sometimes I bring people here when they are visiting from out of town; it’s that amazing! The store is labyrinthian and I occasionally find a whole different part of the store I’d never seen before. For someone that lives far from home, it’s like having a Dad on call whenever you have an odd project. They’ve spent a good chunk of time helping me find just the right sized screw, that ultimately cost only a few cents. These guys know their stuff. These guys have a ton of stuff. They aren’t trying to upsell you or get you to buy things you don’t need. Purely an asset to our community.

I am a regular customer. There staff is always helpful, fast and efficient. They often have a bigger selection of an item than the big box stores. Tonight I needed an ice scraper for car windows and a measuring tape. They had many to choose from. I needed two small screws and the salesman spent time to find just the right size.

Hardware sales is a huge part of our business, being that we are in the construction world. They have helpful, knowledgeable staff and just about everything you need.

I’ve lived here since this establishment began as Powder Sales, selling dynamite and other explosive products to Bellinghamsters. They’ve transformed themselves over the decades to become the most amazing hardware store in the universe. Men of Whatcom County, we have pretty much dumb-​lucked ourselves into having a hardware purveyor this amazing in our own back yard!
It’s been said that you can walk into Hardware Sales with a broken hardware item in your hand, and a friendly, helpful employee will send you out the door with a fully-​functioning version of that item.
I once heard a story of a man who moved to Bellingham, just because of Hardware Sales. If you visit their store, you could easily believe this legend to be true!

This place is great for anything you may need. It is my favorite hardware store I have ever been to. The staff are always quick to help you and inquire if you are looking for something. This is good because the layout is quite laberinthian and full of stock. Sometimes there are special events here with sales etc. I come here to just waste time «windowshopping» for things I don’t need too!

Really pleased with the customer service. I only spent $ 1, but the staff quickly helped with my issue, knew exactly what I needed and found it right away. The cashier saw my WWU student ID in my wallet and gave me 10% off without me asking.

They’ve got a ton of stuff. Wall-​to-​wall, floor to ceiling — and upstairs too. Their staff members are the types of people that you can simply describe what you’re looking for if you don’t know it by name and they can help you track it down. Marvelous. I wish they would expand, however.

Great local hardware store. They have the big box stores beat! They are super helpful especially when the husband sends you and you have no idea what you’re really looking for.

Hardware Sales is the best place to find anything that you need for a project. If you are somewhere else in town and they don’t have it you will always here «you should check with Hardware Sales». They also have a huge selection of power tools with prices that are as good as anything you can find online, that’s because they area huge online seller of tools. Simply the best with a staff that will find it for you! Best selection of Stainless Steel fasteners on the coast. I have never left there to find what I needed at another store. check my rankings, I don’t hand out 5 stars very easily.

Fantastic staff with excellent full stock of housing supplies. Yesterday I walked out with a table lamp on sale at about 80% off. If you look for the ‘yellow’ price stickers, you’ll be very happy with the sales.
Also, the store is laid out perfectly. The shelves are organized and the supplies are well stocked.
Love going there.

Great hardware store, especially for hard to find tools, bolts, paint, office equipment, farm and garden, construction rentals, and miscellaneous needs. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Lot’s of inventory in all buildings and up stairs.

What can I say about Hardware Sales? I can say that they have it all and know it all! I am thrilled to shop locally and to support this awesome business. In my volunteerism stuff, I know that they are generous and care about our wonderful community. I prefer shopping local and I appreciate their knowledge and willingness to help when I have questions. This is easily my favourite hardware store. Anything I need, they have in stock. There isn’t probably that many stores that can say this. Quite a bit of experience, careful thought, and know how, have made me come back.
Traveling through the labyrinths of stock; I always wind up with one question. How is it that I can find anything I need in this cavernous place and have such a hard time at a big box store ten times bigger?
The staff are quick to help and very thoughtful. I have always been very impressed by their knowledge and quick witted comments on how I can improve an idea that I arrived with. I will be shopping here until I have no ability to fix anything again.

Hands down surely the best hardware store on the planet. I’ve been spoiled for most of my life by Kolln Hardware in Pleasanton, CA– now sadly gone – but Hardware Sales has it all. From the tiniest screws, nuts and fasteners to five foot long pipe wrenches and a knowledgeable and helpful staff, what more could any DIY ask for? Even if you don’t need anything, stop by and wander around two floors of jammed packed isles. You won’t be disappointed!

I’m not a very savy do-​it-​yourselfer but I sure do like to try if I can. Although quite a bit smaller than your big box stores, as far as I’m concerned, this place has everything! All I needed was a specific bolt for my bike and with the help of a friendly employee, I was able to find it without a problem. I like the fact that there is plenty of staff here to help while that can always be a problem at the bigger stores. Lastly, the guy that was checking out right before me had a bird on his shoulder! Yes an actual live bird! Maybe it’s just a Bellingham or a West Coast thing but that’s when it really hit me that I’m not in the midwest anymore! Will definitely come back!

This company can get anything you want.
As a marine contractor they have located and secured for me a vast array of items from under water chain saws, specialty stainless steel fasteners, electronics to many many power tools.
Great pricing but well beyond that is the staff.
If you have a need they will help you. If you can manage to barely describe the issue the staff can send you to the right department.
As a busy guy I don’t like to waste my time waiting endlessly so I go to Hardware Sales!
I would say that ¾ of the tools and equipment on our barge, Rosie the Riveter, was purchased from HardWare Sales

The big box stores have their place, and as far as I’m concerned it’s in 2^nd place F-​A-​R behind Hardware Sales!
Not only does Hardware Sales have an amazing array of inventory (if you can’t find what you need here, it’s probably not made), but their staff is nothing short of amazing. Take in a do-​hickey that you don’t know anything about, and they’ll explain what it is, what it does, how to repair/​replace/​install that do-​hickey, and walk you to where it’s located in the store.
We recently took in a lamp that wasn’t working, thinking we were needing replacement parts. One of the staff took us directly to the parts bin, pulled out the pieces he thought we’d need, and offered to install them right there. He started to pull the lamp apart and discovered it would require a simple fix with no replacement parts, and took care of the problem on the spot. No charge and no sale, but a pair of satisfied customers for sure!
I’m a fan of Hardware Sales and would encourage you to become one too!
