The ferry ride is, indeed, a beautiful and relaxing one. Since the last, and only, review, the price of onboard food has god up. Dinner is now $ 14 and up. Staterooms are nice — you get a private shower. For the most part, staff is helpful. If you’re prone to motion sickness, bring some meds (or other relief) to that. There are 3 passings that involve open ocean. I usually take Dramamine and sleep through it. Bring a camera!

If a ferry and a cruise ship had sex in the 70s… this is what the result would be… a bouncing baby UberFerry (I really need an umlaut for effect here) of the Alaskan Marine Highway System.
All the talk of Ferries and reviewing nationally has got me thinking. I have memory issues :), so I haven’t reviewed outside of Seattle till now, having just joined Unilocal in July and concrete memories of other places having faded since then. This is one memory that will never fade.
Staterooms for people who want their privacy, reclining chairs for people who could care less, and a heated outdoor solarium with one of the most amazing porthole views… and by Porthole I mean 180 degrees of glacier madness and marine life… Blue Glaciers spilling into the Pacific, pods of Orcas swimming close by, a wave from a humpback’s tail as s (he) dives deep for food, funny little puffins (think funky ½ seagull & ½ penguin).
The Galleys and Bars on board serve short-​order style. You can consistently get a good meal for less than $ 5 for b-​fast, $ 7 for lunch, & $ 10 for dinner… Bring a good bottle of wine to enjoy your $ 8 Cornish Game Hen with… also, the cheapest beers in Alaska… hands down.
The trip from Bellingham to anywhere in Alaska is at least 29 hours without stopping… then port calls can last between 1 and 3 hours. You can «cruise» to Juneau, Haines, Skagway, Sitka, Petersburg, Seward, Kodiak, and hell even Unalaska all the way the «f» out there on the Aleutians.(note that was a random listing of cities, not in any particular order of stoppage).
The prices start at about $ 350 for a one way with no stateroom… Bring a tent and camp on the heli-​pad for an interesting twist…
Good rule of the thumb… it get cheaper as it gets colder.
If you love ferries, then you need to take this ferry… With or without your car a ridiculously fun way to get up to Alaska before it melts…
Ps…They also have free hot showers and 2^nd run movies for those that have been in the «bush» too long… haha…I said «bush»…
