I just had to share our amazing experience with Sizzleworks and Chef Pam who made our daughter’s 12^th cooking birthday party a smashing success on all levels! As any parent knows, finding the perfect place to celebrate your child’s birthday can be daunting and nerve wracking. I searched for a cooking school because that is one of my daughter’s passions but also needed one that catered to a 12 year old, a pre-​teen, who was not interested in basic recipes or cooking techniques. She wanted an elevated experience to share with her guests. Every single detail, from the pre-​meeting with Chef Pam, who worked with the birthday girl on menu, options, flavor profiles, expectations, to the party itself with beautifully set table, sparkling and organized kitchen, creatively fun cooking lessons and hip music for a bit of dancing in between courses was perfect. A+ at every stage! The food was so delicious and the kids did it all, from prep to cooking and made homemade pasta from scratch and then used the roller and cutting machines and drying racks. They whipped up a punch recipe that all the girls voted on and created and then finished up with mini birthday cakes to decorate and devour with toppings galore.
On the way out the door the party guests all received a printed take home «menu» of what they made that day with recipes to continue their cooking journey at home. Smiles and laughter from start to finish from everyone including all the parents who could not believe how cool this was…
What made everything work flawlessly with love and passion and devotion was Chef Pam and her «helper husband». Their genuine adoration for children and love of teaching and cooking was priceless. We all just can’t say enough about how successful this birthday party was for everyone involved and invited and our daughter must have told us over 20 times how amazingly special this party was for her and that it was the very best one of her life!

The whole team (Carol, Pam, Ed and Tara) is knowledgeable, engaged, and provide a stimulating curriculum and world-​class atmosphere and experience. The recipes are fantastic and the kitchen store provides a wealth of gadgets for experienced and novice chefs alike. I have been to many cooking classes and the ones offered at sizzleworks have been by far the best!

The teacher was lively and knowledgeable. She kept the kids in line and really made sure they understood what they were doing each step of the way. The kids got to eat each thing they made along the way so they got to taste the results of their efforts immediately. Very fun!

I’ve taken more classes here than I can remember, and I have lots of fun every single time. Sure, the classes here are more expensive than Sur La Table or Hipcooks. But while other schools are more of a «cooking group fun activity», at Sizzleworks, you both have fun *and* learn a lot. The instructors here don’t just teach you recipes, but they teach you the techniques, the hows and whys of everything you do, and the food science that holds it all together. And the food is simply amazing!
I first took the How To Boil Water beginner’s class with Chef Pam, which is a whirlwind tour of all things cooking. It was a lot of great stuff, but most importantly it was good practice for someone with practically no cooking experience to get comfortable in the kitchen.
Next, I took Cookwise 16-​week series with Chef Carol, which takes everything up a notch and is a stand-​out amongst cooking classes. This is the series that goes in depth into all things cooking. If you’re not ready to splurge on the whole 16-​week series, I encourage you to at least take a few key classes to get a feel for how the class is run. My favorite classes were the Knife Skills, Taste Project, Sauté, the 2 Sauce classes, and Eggs. But let’s be honest, once you’re hooked, you’re gonna wanna take the whole series.
I also took the Croissant class and Pie class, and now I can bake those too.
The staff here is super friendly and super fun. Once you’ve been here a few weeks, they start treating you like family and are always happy to see you come back. And if you’re having trouble with a recipe or just need cooking advice, Chef Pam and Chef Carol are always glad to help.
In short, Sizzleworks is a great place. If you love cooking, want to have fun cooking, and want to learn something all at the same time, you definitely need to check out Sizzleworks!

I signed up for the grilling class. The staff was wonderful and kept everyone included, the food was delicious and the cooking tips were great. I won’t go back because I felt there was too much «down time» and I didn’t learn $ 90 worth of stuff. I definitely feel that the education plus dinner was worth the money but I feel if I’m taking a cooking class that the value should be in what I learn rather than in the food I eat. I’d be happier with small samples of food and more knowledge.

My husband and I signed up for the Seafood Grill cooking class and had a wonderful experience. We have taken classes in the past at Sur La Table and the two experiences are quite different. Sizzleworks is not as hands on as a course at Sur La Table but you learn just as much. Each guest is able to help with a dish or two (volunteer basis), unlike Sur La Table where each person is prepping for every dish. We made a handful of recipes and took away so many versatile dipping sauces. The meal was delicious and the atmosphere was very laid back and friendly. Highly recommend for a fun and educational cooking experience.
