Julian did a great job with my professional head-​shots. He was quick, thoughtful and a pleasure to work with. I’d highly recommend him.

Julian is not only an excellent photographer, but a great person. Julian took some photos of me doing magic and they came out great. He held an event raising funds for a local charity and you can see how dedicated he is to his art and his customers.

. The website is now personable. Highlighted with our team members on the About and Contact page. He did a great job creative directing, enhancing the images in post production, the turnaround was very fast, and to top it off his price point was great!

I hired Julian to take photos of our board of directors and executive team. He was able to make my short time frame as the board had limited availability between meetings — there was only a few minutes for each. Julian was there early, had everything set up and ready to go. Because there was extra time at the front, we were able to fit in the executive team before the board. It was great Julian was flexible.
He got everyone in and out hitting the timeline. Julian was so flexible that because he was going to be in the area the next day, he wanted to stop by and take the photos of the two guys who weren’t there. It worked out great.
Julian is professional and quick. The photos he took were incredible. He made everyone look great. I now have consistency and continuity on my website. I will definitely hire him again next year.

Prior to updating my profile picture with Julian’s photo, I received zero comments about my profile though it was a decent photo. I needed a headshot for work and knew that they are an important part of increasing your professional visibility. I believe Julian did that for me in just one photo. He accommodated my last minute scheduling needs, was courteous and professional in all communications and was pleasant at the «shoot» — plus, it was raining and he still made it work. I felt comfortable with him from the beginning. The only thing I’d recommend for him is to accept credit cards or at least PayPal. I never write checks anymore and very rarely go to the bank or use an ATM – so it was a minor inconvenience but not a deal breaker.
I recently got the following comment on my LinkedIn site where I have my headshot posted: «Great photo, Ericka! It perfectly conveys your superior intelligence and positive energy.» Thanks Julian!

Julian did a wonderful job for me and my husband, Supin. He suggested a great setting for our family (Me, my hubby and our dog, Mei-​Ling). He chose The Arboretum and it was the perfect setting for our Christmas family portrait. We have some great b&w shots, as well as some great color shots. He’s also done a very nice head shot of me for my real estate business.
Julian is always friendly and professional. I met him at several networking events and find that he is one of the top photographers in Seattle. I would highly recommend Julian for your next family photo or headshot session.

A few nice head shots on his website, but my experience with him was a negative one. Be prepared to run into hidden fees and to deal with an unpleasant «artist».
I’m only one person, and this is my specific experience, and it may or may not be indicative of the way Julian runs his «business». However, a word of caution before working with this man. 1. Get his fees in writing prior to the appointment. Every last one of them. 2. If you’re a woman, bring someone with you. These photos are not taken in a real studio or other place of business. It’s an apartment complex. 3. Be prepared to deal with what I can only describe as an «attitude». This seems like a part time gig for the photographer, which is fine. But if you’re going to take people’s money like a real business, you need to behave like one as well.
A little more color on my experience…
I initially reached out looking for business head shots, and after he replied asking for more detail I emailed him and asked if he had weekend availability. He replied «we’ll fit you in around my social schedule and church». Red flag #1. I live in Downtown Seattle and needed the photos done within a month, and frankly he had the first weekend availability of all the 10ish photographers I reached out to, so I decided to use him and make the commute to Redmond.
The day of my appointment I paid to have my makeup professionally done. The appointment ran late (it happens) and I texted Julian to see if arriving about a half hour late still worked for him that day. He texted me and said «That still works. See you then.» When I arrived at his «studio» I was surprised to see that it was actually an apartment complex. He told me where to park and I greeted him thanking him for his flexibility and understanding of my appointment running late and Saturday I5 traffic. He was clearly upset (huffy?) and didn’t speak as he led me into the apartment elevator. I already felt a weird vibe around him, but then he led me to what I believe was the apartment’s community room where some lights were set up (red flag #2). I thought he had a «studio»? When he finally did speak he turned to me and told me that he was a very busy man and that because I was late he’d need to charge me additional fees. I told him I was confused because when I texted him he told me it was ok to come out to Redmond, but never mentioned any fees. I asked if he thought a better time to notify me of the fees may have been during the time he told me being late wasn’t a problem. He just stared at me and said «l’m very busy. Is this going to be a problem?» He was confrontational, rude, and frankly made me super uncomfortable. I literally hadn’t even put my bag down yet. I understand being late isn’t cool, I own that it was my fault and I respect the time of others. But sometimes the makeup lady runs long and the traffic is crappy. The issue wasn’t that he was going to charge me additional fees, it’s the way he angrily told me how incredible busy he was and dumped them on me once I drove 30 minutes to see him. I would have paid the fees on top of his high rates, if he had dealt with the situation differently. But at that point I thought to myself, «what other hidden fees is he going to pull out of his hat?». I told him I wasn’t happy with the hidden fees and that I felt uncomfortable. He just continued to stare at me, so feeling totally weirded out I announced that it was probably best that I leave. He said Ok and that he wished me the best. (I guess he really must be super swamped with folks streaming into his makeshift studio, because he didn’t seem to care that my $ 250 was walking out. Or the money of my 15 or so colleagues that need head shots and were waiting on my recommendation of whether or not to use Julian.)
After I left I received a series of texts (not phone calls, texts) from Julian telling me that we obviously had a misunderstanding and that lawyers charge late fees too. However, Julian is not a lawyer he’s a photographer taking pictures out of his apartment community room, and one that told me it was OK to drive from Seattle to Redmond that morning, even though I was late. Bottom line, there is a right and wrong way to communicate with customers. My entire experience with him was a series of communications-​gone-​wrong. Delivery is key.
My advice to those looking for head shots is to visit one of the many other photographers with real studios, strong portfolios and better prices/​packages.

It’s all about perspective and creativity! Not really, it is all about really digging deep and finding out what people really want, and sometimes they don’t even know themselves. However, Julian has a way of listening and using his insight to capture his clients’ true wishes. He delivers 100% and then some.
On another note, Julian is also a fantastic speaker about brand recognition and social marketing among other topics. If you need a business speaker and want your audience to be engaged and inspired, Julian is your man!

Julian is a pro. He’s done multiple rounds of headshots for both of my companies locations over the past 3 years. When he comes to do a shoot– he’s prepared. Lots of advanced equipment and a great personality.
He is also a phenom when it comes to the editing phase of the photos.
I suggest Julian’s Photography for anyone who wants a great experience at a reasonable price.

Julian is an amazing photographer– he relaxes you and can get you to create a warm smile and brilliant photo so effectively and he’s super efficient! I adore my team head shots, group photos, and fab job on my son’s senior photos.
You’ll waste your time and be unhappy if you go elsewhere.
