Am here to compliment 2 team members: Jonathan, massage therapist — His academic background combined with his intuitive sense make for a great experience in his muscle/​tissue work. When I can’t quite pin-​point the source of stiffness/​strain, he knows where to go to work it out. Ziba, skin care therapist — she is efficient, fast and knowledgeable. A perfectionist, just like I am.

I go to Gene Juarez to get my french acrylics and pedicures done. I always see Michelle. Not only is she a sweetheart to go to, she does the best manicure and pedicure I have ever had. I’ve tried other places, but nothing compares. I highly recommend Michelle both for nails, skin care and lashes.

Hair done. Nails done. Everything done here including spa treatments!!! Genuinely love GJ hole company and their emphasis on furthering their knowledge within their specialized trade. The service is impeccable and the staff and assistants always seem to be very jolly. They have my business for life. I trust them and the integrity behind the products they retail.

Whitney is wonderful second time I’ve seen her. She does a great color. She also has a great warming personal touch. Saw Aaron for a cut also today and I would recommend them both.

This place is ridiculous, I paid $ 283.00 after a $ 100 gift card for balayage and my hair looks like it has cheap highlights in it from root to tip when I specifically asked for balayage not highlights and was charged for balayage. the blonde color is not consistent or evenly pulled through there are a lot of orange and patchy parts where the color wasn’t applied right. Also it was supposed to be a full balayage and Whitney was in such a rush that she just the did the top layers and a few pieces on the bottom, on top of this I paid for an olaplex treatment which was supposed to sit on my hair for 15 mins per Whitney, but 5 mins later a completely different lady came and washed my hair and I did not see Whitney again. I am so disappointed. I had my hair cut as well which was no better I was not asked what I wanted and I came out with a Diane sawyer haircut which is the exact opposite of my style. I emailed the salon after I got home and have not receive any response at all. Not a phone call, email, text or anything. A $ 383 bill for hair may not be much for some people but this is my second visit and over $ 600 later I am not happy with the results. Don’t waste your time or money here…

My daughter had a gorgeous haircut last night from stylist Elliot. He was professional, very pleasant and an outstanding stylist. She had twelve inches cut off to donate to Locks of Love. She was very nervous about having so much cut off because she is a cancer survivor and has been growing her hair out for years so she could donate it. She lost her hair to chemo 12 years ago so this haircut and donation meant alot to her. Elliot made her feel comfortable and at ease and assured her it would look great. He gave us a Locks of Love form to fill out and they send your donation in for you, which was very helpful. This salon is beautiful and relaxing. I highly recommend this salon and stylist Elliot. We will definitely be back.

They hosted a lemon drop spa event for olive crest so I got to check them out for the first time! Stacy did my hair and dos a fantastic job! And the staff was all friendly and helpful!

Let me start out by saying I was an employee at this amazing salon once upon a time – I haven’t worked there for almost a year, as I started a different career path in the healthcare industry. Now lots would think this would make me biased, but I honestly could not go without telling everyone about my incredible experience at Gene Juarez today. I’d be doing everyone a complete disservice, and everyone deserves to be treated how I was!
I injured my back skiing a couple weeks ago – actually my knee and my back, so I’m all sorts of messed up, limping and hobbling along. I promise this has to do with my experience today!
I got my eye brows done by Ziba, who is seriously the brow ninja queen. She’s an amazing woman, always so welcoming and happy to see you. Not to mention she is amazing at her job! Love her. So much.
I finish up with Ziba, and make my way to the color lobby to wait for Whitney, who I’ve been seeing for years. When it comes to my hair, and actually everyone’s hair as I saw while I worked there, she is incredible. I got to experience and see her grow from when she first started at the Bellevue salon as an associate, and she has been consistently amazing. I always say when I post my post-​hair-​done pictures on Facebook that «Whitney read my mind once again!» because honestly, I will show her one picture on (you guessed it…) Pinterest, but say «But maybe not this dark, maybe with a few blonde pieces here and there.» and she totally knows what to do and what would look good on me. She even gave me a game plan since I’m getting married in six months (!!) about if I find I need more blonde pieces or anything, what I should book for and when. Love that, because I’m completely clueless when it comes to any sort of timeline.
Here’s the part that actually drove me to write a review on here. Because as a former employee, I was thinking it may seem tacky that I’d post a Unilocal review about my day here. But this is what put it over the edge for me. Because of my injury to my back, I can’t sit in one spot, or really position, for too long. I’m constantly resituating (not sure if that’s a word, but it is now!) myself because even after a few minutes I start to feel more and more pain until it’s too unbearable. Whitney could tell how uncomfortable I was, and offered to get me a hot towel to sit up against. I had to try my best to hold in my tears. It meant so much to me not only as a friend, but as a client that she would go the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable, or as comfortable as I could be. I had a Balayage and All Over Color, and with the Balayage at some points you have to stay really still so the artist can paint the color on in the right spots. She was so patient with me and my totally fidgety self.
While my color processed, and my head was covered in saran wrap (my future sister in law so lovingly put it as turning into a honey-​baked ham :)) I was able to walk around the salon – as ridiculous as I looked – so I can move my muscles and stretch back out a little bit. While I walked around probably looking a little bewildered, the front desk staff made sure that I was okay and if there was anything they could help with.
Cindy checked me in, and besides the fact that it’s always a treat to see that beautiful smiling face, it was so nice to take a minute and talk to her about my upcoming wedding and how her daughters are both engaged. (Congratulations, Cindy!)
I hope people realize that none of this treatment is because I was an employee, that I saw this every day for the 2.5 years that I worked there. Gene Juarez employees and artists actually care about every client that comes through that door. I had a beyond excellent day today, and I’m going to bed with beautiful brows and perfect hair!

On Valentine’s Day 02÷14÷16. I had a whole day planned out for my wife. Part of the day I planned for her & my mother in law (mama jules) to have a relaxing day with a Spa manicure & pedicure.
My wife chose Shellac but Mama Jules didn’t. The Spa manicure & pedicure is $ 105 per person plus $ 35 dollars for the Shellac $ 245 + tax was $ 268 + $ 30 for a tip $ 298.
Wifey & Mama Jules had a great experience while there. They were on cloud 9 from the foot massage. They said it was relaxing. They came back tumbling toward earth after the next day Mama Jules’ toenail popped off. Seriously, the next day. Then 2 days later another came off. She was highly upset and was like I cant walk around with 3 nails painted and the other 2 bare ass lol. So she called and complained they said «oh sorry». She asked them to fix it and they said no they dont guarantee they’ll stay on past 1 day. So she’s already taken them off
Wifey’s nails on her hands popped off on the 3^rd day. In what world does a $ 300 dollar mani, pedi = shitty quality.
I will be sure to tell everyone not to use this company, what kind of company doesnt guarantee their work. Tisk tisk tisk Shame on you Genie shame on you.

I make my monthly pilgrimage to Gene Juarez and it never gets old!
Basilia is the first person I have ever trusted with my brow waxes, as they needed some serious love over time. After 7 years, I am still a loyal customer! Between Basilia and Ziba, they both are experts in the art of brow arching. They make sure that your brows compliment your facial features, making sure they’re not too arched, but not too thin. For anyone who is brow challenged like yours truly, they give great advice on brown care at home.
Scheduling over the phone is a breeze, and staff are very friendly.
Your wallet will hate you (it can get kinda pricey), but you’ll be feeling like a million bucks on your way out :)

This post is only related to the fee being charged guests to dispose of chemicals and recycled items. The fee for services over $ 35 is $ 2 which is pretty much everything. Shame on you Gene Juarez. I commend you for finding a cleaner way of disposing of your products but this is a cost of doing business!!! Passing onto your clients is a blatant «if they can afford our services they can afford this too» move. You make enough money, the least you can do is hide the fee in cost of services like most companies– oh and your rates just went up again. I am loyal to my stylist but not to you. Im rethinking my options going forward.

I’m new to the area and this location happens to be right below the gym I go to. I decided to stop in and ask a few questions, and due to a cancellation they were able to get me in the same day. Dorian was absolutely amazing! He was able to bring back my wavy/​curl perfectly! I’ll definitely be back!

Very happy! They were open on a Sunday & had an appointment for the time I was looking at.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a very polite receptionist, offered tea & a relaxing environment to wait for my stylist.
Bella was amazing. She listened to what I wanted, offered exactly that & provided helpful suggestions throughout the haircut.
I will certainly return.

Such a phenomenal experience with Theresa for my manicure on Sunday! Theresa is a gem, and has an amazing personality as well as being very detail oriented! She caught me picking right away and fixed the teeny tiny fleck that caught my attention. (I’m very OCD) she then let me see the entire salon, and, as a hairstylist, I was BLOWN AWAY by the beauty and attentive staff. Next time I find myself in Bellevue, I’ll be seeing Her again for sure! :D

Coming from California and having been a client of a single salon there for many years (even traveling back there to have my hair done for almost 2 years since we moved to Snoqualmie) I was not looking forward to trying someone/​something new. Annnnddd… I have to say that this was one of the best salon experiences I’ve ever had. The salon is compartmentalized so different designers do color and cut which I’ve never experienced before but found to be super efficient. It was smooth and quick (I like to enjoy myself while there but HATE spending half a day in the hair salon). Katie did my color and Johnny (gently insisted on carrying my purse and my water over to his station… such a kind gesture and a nice touch) cut my hair. They’re both friendly, current, confident and you can tell they know what they’re doing.
The receptionist that checked me out referred to me by name when I walked up, knew exactly what I had done, referred to who did it and was super friendly. Par for the course, these guys have hair and consumer experience mastered.
Convenient location, easy parking, reasonable/​competitive prices, WALLS of amazing product (priced for every pocket book) super clean and bonus… open 7 days a week.
The only gripe I had was the sign outside of the salon says «Men’s Salon» which had me wandering upstairs before I realized that’s where I was supposed to be but even that didn’t warrant a reduction in rating.

I have come here for several spa experiences and most recently for a hair color.
Spa — You truly feel like you are taken to a different space. Eventhough it’s still in the salon it is so quiet and peaceful. My massage and facial have always been pleasant.
Hair color — I really liked my color and the girl who did it was very nice and listened to what I wanted in my color. My only problem was the girl who washed and styled my hair. She seemed very uninterested, preoccupied and not very happy. She was pretty aggressive with my hair and it felt like she was taking her aggression out on my hair and head. Other than that, I enjoyed myself.

Very pleased with my experience. I had a facial and a manicure. Oh my gosh, it was heaven! Mica checked me in and out and gave me a fantastic guest experience from the get-​go. Basilia gives a heavenly facial and she really knows what she’s doing. My skin looked amazing and I could definitely tell the difference. And, my manicure was AH-​mazing! It’s a regular manicure, not a gel, and it lasted nearly two weeks. The high quality polish they use there is fantastic. Arielle is a great nail tech and she was so great to talk to. I was so relaxed that I was able to just rest and breathe between my appointments. My experience was way worth the drive and the money I paid. Excellent!

NOT IMPRESSED, DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE $$$. Went as part of bridal festivities (bride, bridesmaids, mother of bride, mother of groom) a while back, and not a single one of us had an experience that would justify the cost. It’s a pity because it had such great reviews, and each one of us dropped about $ 110 but left dissatisfied.
We had our mani’s in the public area, then got pedi’s in a private back room with massage chairs. The back room only had 2 chairs, so we rotated. (Kind of a bummer because we wanted the group to stick together, but I understand spatial constraints.)
Pene was my person. The only slightly redeeming factor of my experience was that she definitely had the perkiest and friendliest attitude out of all the employees we dealt with and can give a killer leg massage. I started with my manicure out in the public area. It was ho-​hum, and I was a bit disappointed with the quality of french tip (a crooked line or two I didn’t catch until after the shellac was applied), but sadly the best out of our group. Bride and maid of honor had OBVIOUSLY UNEVEN LINE THICKNESS/​CROOKEDNESS.
Moved into the back room for my pedicure, and Pene took pains to make sure I was comfortable (pillow, warm towel over my eyes, etc) before giving me a decent pedi and a fantastic 15 minute leg massage. Because only 2 people at a time were in the back room though, the first girls done (bride and maid of honor had manis and pedis done simultaneously) had to wait almost an hour for the next ones to finish! What’s worse — we learned that the bride didn’t get the same treatment I had! She didn’t get to recline, had no towel over her face, and only got a lackluster quickie rub down on her legs. THE BRIDE. The fact that she was a bridge was mentioned when making the appointment, at check in, and to all the employees with us, so out of all the women in our group IT BAFFLED US THAT THE BRIDE HAD GOTTEN THE WORST TREATMENT.
There was definite AGE DISCRIMINATION too. The moms in our group were treated with much more respect and deference. We were kept waiting although we showed up early for the appointment, and then rushed through the services. The moms though (later appointment) seemed to get the more typical «Gene Juarez» experience. Maybe the employees thought the moms were footing the bill, but it grated my nerves to see the difference in treatment by the time we were finished. We’re in our mid-20’s, professional women working in male-​dominated industries. To have to encounter this kind of behavior on what was supposed to be a fun, relaxing, pampering kind of day really disappointed me.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND this «spa» for mani’s, pedi’s, or groups.
I can get a higher quality french tip from my regular nail place here in Southern California for less that half of what I spent at Gene Juarez.

It’s the only place I go, to get my hair color done. I have been coming here since I was in high school, and really can’t imagine going anywhere else. The service is awesome and no matter who you see, your stylist will do a great job at accommodating what you want as well as advising on what is best for your hair. I always end up sticking with the same stylist, and don’t see anyone else until they leave. And in that case, there are recommendations that GJ sets for you, of who you should see based on your service and the stylist you were previously seeing. They do a great job matching.
It always takes three hours or so to get my balayage done, and I always feel so bad for when a stylist has to work longer than what they had planned, but each stylist I’ve had has never acted rushed, impatient or anxious.
When you check in for a hair color, you are given a robe and are asked if you would like coffee or tea. Also, they validate parking if you’ve parked in the garage below. There have been instances where I’ve been parked for more than the allowed four-​hours of validation, and they’ve called down to the garage service desk, to make sure that I can exit without paying. They do a great job at helping you out any way they can.
The only negative about this place is that it’s pricey thus four stars. Beauty isn’t cheap.

Had to come in to get my hair redone after a little issue at the Southcenter Gene Juarez. They were able to get me in 2 days after it happened (I had a schedule conflict and it was also Thanksgiving, or else they could’ve got me in the next day — so not a big deal it took that long). I was, and still am, very thankful for them doing that, since it is the busy holiday season.
Easy to find, huge inside. The waiting area is beautiful, it is so fancy. They have a separate salon for men too, kinda cool. Was greeted promptly by a nice woman at the front desk who provided me with a robe and where to change, and offered me a drink. Didn’t have to wait long for my appointment; I think I got there 20 minutes early for a 5:30 appointment, and was back in the chair 10 minutes early. Nice!
My appointment was with Bella just to get the framing around my face evened out and touched up. She offered to shampoo and condition and all that — much appreciated, but politely declined the offer, they didn’t need to do anything above and beyond just fixing the front. Took about 15 – 20 minutes and I was good to go. Very friendly and polite staff, will most likely be coming in as a regular in the near future.
