Geisha Nails

I was in a hurry to get my nails done over on the Eastside, and walked into Geisha Nails for a quick shellac manicure.
First impression was– YUCK. The décor was grossly outdated– not to mention ill maintained. Paint on the walls were peeling, the equipment on manicure tables were dirty and unwashed. Even the towel used to dry my hands were spotted and yellow. As for the manicure itself– it was rushed (massage was only about 20 seconds per hand) and the color uneven.
The worst part of the experience had to be at the end, where I was charged $ 40 cash for my service. First of all, their service menu clearly lists $ 30 as the price for a shellac manicure. Second of all– another sign on their door clearly lists that they accept Visa, Discover, and Mastercard. I finally ended up having to buy something at the restaurant next door just so I could pay.
Considering I saw the owner of the place driving a Mercedes and carrying a Gucci handbag– you’d think she could afford to renovate the place a little.
Major EW. Never again.

After receiving a wonderful but expensive shellac treatment in a shellac-​only boutique, I decided to splurge on another for a night out. My first shellac manicure was affordable only because I used a deal from an online site– what normally cost about $ 65 went down to $ 30. The shellac was perfectly done, but I felt the manicure part (filing, buffing, shaping the nail) was lacking.
I called Geisha Nail to find out the price and at $ 25 I thought I had nothing to lose. At the very least my nails would look good for a few days and I would get what I paid for.
Jennifer at Geisha Nail did an amazing job. I’m looking lovingly at my nails as I type this review! The process took over 45 minutes, and she was clean, thorough, and exact. I requested my nails be short since I chose a dark red and she shaped them perfectly.
A few things to note:
*this is actually a salon. The salon is small, clean, and homey-​absolutely no frills, and seems to be owned/​managed by a Russian lady and frequented by the Russian community. While I was there every customer that came in seemed like a repeat and they were all Russian– just a neat thing to notice when comparing the «regular-​end» nail places.
*there are only 2 mani/​pedi work stations and Jennifer told me she works part-​time-​so it is best to set an appointment
*I also got an eyebrow wax by the manager and she did a great job of evening them out in no time.
