History

Established in 1969.

Cooley Smiles is a family-​run dentistry practice serving the Bellevue and Seattle, Washington areas. For more than 35 years, we have been providing a full array of general, cosmetic, and family dentistry services to all of our patients. Seattle cosmetic dentists Dr. Aaron Cooley and Dr. Brandon Cooley joined the practice in 1997 and took over from their father after he retired, carrying on the family legacy.

Dr. Aaron and Dr. Brandon both work with all of our patients. They each possess the knowledge and skills necessary to handle any procedure offered at Cooley Smiles. Their shared passion for dentistry is the primary reason Cooley Smiles has developed a reputation for delivering the finest quality general and cosmetic dentistry services available.

Both of our dentists began their education at the University of Washington, where they earned their undergraduate degrees. Dr. Aaron and Dr. Brandon have pursued their dentistry training as a team ever since, attending the University of Pacific Dental School together.

Since entering their father’s family-​run practice in 1997, Dr. Aaron and Dr. Brandon have engaged in a rigorous schedule of continuing education courses in order to remain up-​to-​date on all of the latest advances in the field. This continuing education regimen includes programs at the University of Washington, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), the premier cosmetic dentistry training facility in the nation.

It was my first time going to Cooley Smiles. The facility was very nice and spacious. They offered me coffee because I was early for the appointment. Julie was my dental hygienist. She was very knowledgeable and funny. I enjoyed Dr. Cooley’s humor. It made the tense dental office environment into a nice and a peaceful place. :)
I got in and out of the office on time with a smile on my face! I know it sounds weird, but I can’t wait for my next appointment.

Years ago I had a pretty awful experience at a different dentist office, which made me too scared to return. After years of neglect, I knew it was time to toughen up and find another dentist. I searched around on AL and Unilocal and contacted a few different offices. I finally picked Cooley Smiles and emailed in. I warned them of my concerns and anxiety going in, along with the amount of work I’ll need done. They responded promptly and scheduled an initial appointment. My first visit was a few days ago on Monday and the office seems to be run very smoothly and efficiently. The front desk personnel were very friendly and I waited all of 2 minutes before being called back for my appointment.
I definitely want to sing praises for my hygienist Jaimie! I was VERY self conscious coming in, plus I’m going through a lot in my personal life, so I just really needed some kindness and patience. Jaimie went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable while I was there. I didn’t feel judged by her, like how I’ve felt at other offices. She explained everything in detail before going to work and constantly checked in on me to see how I was feeling. They have a TV that hangs above you to watch while back in the chair, and also have a complimentary hand or foot massage available! On your way out they offer water, juice, and snacks.
I’ve been there 3 times this week, and each visit went as smoothly as the first. I met Dr. Aaron today and he handled my visit similar to Jaimie, Explained everything upfront then checked on me constantly throughout.
I’m very pleased I found this practice. I’m excited to feel confident about smiling again, and I know this practice will help me get there.

I really liked this dental office. I felt completely comfortable and I also felt they really cared about their clients. Everyone from the receptionist to the dental hygienist were so nice! I get very uncomfortable and bad anxiety going to the dentist but I felt very comfortable with them. I would highly recommend this place.

I love Cooley Smiles. Dr Brandon and Dr Aaron have been my dentists for 6 years and I couldn’t be happier. Who likes the dentist, right? But if you have to go, it might as well be good care. Their staff is awesome too. I recently got a new crown. It fits like a glove. No problems at all. Thank you.

I had a friend recommend these brothers who had gone to their Dad, who was apparently the real deal. They promised they could match my front cap and it came out grey. They they said they agreed it did look off but could not promise they would not damage it «and open a can of worms» in fixing it. Also: When I called them for an appointment over a year after that cap replacement … I find out they have a $ 450 credit on my account from that previous appointment. Good thing I called because they clearly were not going to call me… This «dentist office». Does not do professional work and do not even do root canels… What do they do besides think they are wonderful, which they are not! All show no go… Big mistake. Stay away!

I have never been so well informed as a patient … by any service (sad to say the least). I had no questions because they gave so much info. My hygienist was super sweet and very gentle. I loved all the bells and whistles the message the TV and headphones, Dr. Cooley was very down to earth and the use of technology was a very refreshing experience. My husband has an appt coming up and I cant wait see the results.

I had terrible experience here. They are dishonest in many ways and made me feel very uncomfortable. First, they told me that I had to take X-​rays although I did my last one only less than one year. Second, I had to come three times to do my cleaning! This was unbelievable and their explanation was that they didn’t reserve enough time for my cleaning. So it was their fault and they didn’t tell me upfront. So you can imagine how surprised I was when I visited three times and was told that I had to come again at the end of each session! Third, at my last clean session, the hygienist asked to take my photos. When I asked what she was using for photo. She answered just normal camera. However, it was not! They put something into my mouth and hurt me a lot! When I asked them to stop, they didn’t! Most shockingly, the hygienist was lying claiming that she told me up front,
I will never return to this office again!

Cooleysmiles is great! I really have high anxiety going to the dentist. Dr. Aaron, Judy & Bridget are all sensitive to that. They always do their best to make me feel comfortable. Jean the office manager is always very nice & friendly along with the other ladies at the front desk. Today I saw the new dentist. He was very nice too. :)

I’ve never met a dentist I liked until today. I came in for a cleaning to this friendly, clean dental office near my work. The hygienist was as thorough on intake as she was on cleaning my teeth. They had a massage therapist on hand to work on my hands or feet during my appointment… quite the luxury, plus overhead tv to keep me entertained (the World Cup is on!). Every dentist I’ve seen in the last two years has tried to sell me on braces or whitening or something that I feel like I don’t need. Dr Brandon was friendly, sociable, and the first dentist to say that I don’t need any work on my teeth, just some stains to remove. It’s nice to not feel like I’m being sold something! I will be returning and referring everyone I know to this business.

Cooleysmiles is prob the best dental office is the whole Seattle area. I just love going there! All their stuffs are friendly and you can tell that they’re happy at work and it creats a very good atmosphere for the customers. They even have in house massage therapist!!! Can teeth cleaning even be awesomer than that?
I rencently get my teeth cleaned by their hygenist Julie and she rock!!! She’s very professional and at the same time super duper fun to work with!!! I look forward to see her again!
I hightly recommand everyone to give cooleysmiles a try. Even just for once. It’s going to just blow your mind away! They really bring dental service to a whole different level!

I had wonderful experience with Dr. Lisa who works part– time in the office. She attended my teeth with care and patience. One time she scheduled me for a filling, and was honest and courageous enough to tell me that she made a mistake in looking at the xray, and that I didn’t need the filling after all. She could had gone ahead and grind down my tooth and then charged me and insurance for it. But she didn’t. Dr. Lisa is a gem!
The technician and hygienist that I encountered were professional and pleasant, and were also careful in my dental treatment. Some of the office staff were pleasant.

A lot of people from my old office went to this dental office, so I did too. Free sonic care?! I’ll take it! But it was not worth it. Had to come back 3 times because they didn’t shave down a filling correctly and it was cutting my cheek. They were rough when I said I was nervous and didn’t listen when I said I needed extra numbing. Drilled on me without it and ZING! Felt that in my nerve. Tears immediately ran down my face and I just couldn’t wait to leave. Later they made a billing mistake and I got a bill MONTHS down the road. I let them know this isn’t what we discussed in billing and that it didn’t seem fair. They said that it was. All around, the lady at the front desk was the only pleasant part of coming and going.

I am trying to find a good dentist for my family. So I called here. The receptionist was nice and pleasant, but flatly said that the doctors don’t want to work with you if you don’t consent to xrays. Now, I support xrays when necessary, but I am strongly opposed to medical professionals who bully me and my family into procedures by threatening to withhold care if we don’t comply. I appreciate her honesty that they only accept clients who obey, but will bring my business to a company who will work with us and respect our decisions.

WOW — what an amazing new patient experience!
As someone whose father is a dentist — albeit 2,000 miles away — I have certain expectations of the type of experience you should have at your dentist’s office. I was blown away at the level of customer service, from the time I made my first appointment, to level of follow up for my following appointments. My cleaning was amazing — my teeth felt downright sparkly, and the detail of the NP exam was impressive. I even had to have 2 fillings replaced and they got me in the next day to Dr. Brandon, and it was another great experience. When you add in all the added benefits — drinks, hand/​foot massage, TV — they are really raising the bar on an excellent patient experience.

Not sure I understand the negative reviews on here! I actually enjoy going to the dentist now (I’ve had 3 – 4 others in the past).
I found Cooleysmiles from an ad at the gym, and have gone for the past 1 ½ years. I enjoy the atmosphere, as it is pretty light for a dentist’s office, and the staff is extremely friendly. I have had a few cavities filled, and loved that they showed me everything they recommended to be fixed (I’ve had the feeling from some dentists that they just want to re-​do everything someone else has done). Brandon is really up front about any work that needs to be done.
I have recommended everyone I know to go there, and multiple co-​workers have followed suit — I mean, who doesn’t want a relaxing hand massage while your teeth are being cleaned? Can’t wait for my next appointment :)

I no longer go here for dental services, but my family and I were patients for about 5 years.
They generally have very nice, friendly staff. They light scented candles, try to make the atmosphere and experience calming. The lobby has a Nintendo game to keep the pre teen kids entertained.
But I found many downsides to coming here. First, the last dental cleaning of the day that they will schedule is 3pm. My sons did not get out of school until 3pm, so it was very hard to pick them up and get them there in time for the appointment.
During the 5 years that we came, I never had the same hygenist twice. I guess they had some temporary ones they hired. I always seemed to have a different person clean my teeth. I like the continuity of the same person visit to visit.
I used to grind my teeth, and consequently, many of my teeth chipped, cracked, etc. and had to be filled, replaced, crowned. On two occasions when one or the other of the Cooley dentists were working on my teeth, they actually made jokes about my teeth to their assistant, and laughed about all the work I have had to have in my mouth. This really offended me. I have always taken meticulous care of my teeth, just had problems with cracking and chipping. I very much resented their attitude, and being made fun of…
They are also very hard to get an appointment for. Twice, after my youngest son had a cleaning, they immediately scheduled a cleaning for 6 months in the future. On 2 occasions, they called me 2 weeks before this scheduled cleaning and said «ooops, we goofed. The office will be closed when we scheduled your son’s appointment (they did this twice? how inept!!! Don’t they know when they will be closed!?@!!!), so we need to reschedule». Unfortunately, that meant he had to wait an additional TWO MONTHS to get another appointment, as they are so full.
I finally got sick of the difficulties of scheduling here and moved to another dentist who we LOVE and always has time to fit us in and does cleanings up until 5pm which is way more convenient.
