Carpet To Go

We stopped by here to get some carpet ideas and compare prices. They were very nice and spent a half hour explaining the various carpet options to us, as it was our first experience with buying carpets. They were very patient and their prices were actually lower then we expected for a downtown kind of place.

First rate service from Laura V and the entire team at Carpet to Go. Transformed my out of town, can’t get there to see the carpet, nightmare carpet experience into a DREAM. Laura V answered endless calls from me, and she even recommended a wonderful carpet to match the paint I had chosen. Since I was painting and recarpeting my condo from out of town, I could not get there to see the carpet and carpets change names dep. on where in the country you live. Did anybody know that? Was on a very strict time crunch and couldn’t wait to receive the samples. Rave reviews from all who have seen the finished product: paint (BM balboa mist) and carpet (Shaw flooring dream) combination.
It’s not their fault they can’t sell any other product than Shaw flooring to Costco clients. That’s part of the package if you are going through Costco. If you want products other than Shaw then you CANNOT mention Costco because as Theo B states they are bound by their contract to sell ONLY Shaw products to Costco members.
I also worked with Betsy and she was very accommodating in all of our telephone dealings.

We went to the store to look at hardwood flooring. I mentioned that we had a quote from Costso for Shaw flooring. We were more interested in other brands. After we mentioned Costco the salesperson told us that they COULD NOT SELL us the other brand. WTF!
She said the Costco contract forbids them from selling other brands if the sole reason for a customer’s store visit was from a Costco salesperson.
After reading the reviews on Unilocal.We won’t be buying anything at this store.

Tried getting an email quote. I don’t like calling because stories can change and with email I have a paper trail.
Took me writing twice to get a reply, only for Betsy to say «call me», well Betsy, if I wanted to call, I would. I prefer email communication and I said that.
I told her what I was looking for and 2 days later she replied again. I wrote back. It has now been 3 days and I still have not heard back.
I know phone is faster, but in my line of work, email is best, and if I have a paper trail I can prove what someone said. I can’t do that with a phone call since the majority of them are not recorded or entirely entered in a computer.
Due to very slow communication, I will definitely never use this company.
If they don’t want to use email, don’t provide it as a means of communication. Take notes here Betsy. Your email communication is horrible.

I love love love working with every single person in this company. What a amazing experience. It’s really hard to find people that know what they are doing, that are helpful, and patience with your decision making. At one point everyone in the store was looking for something for me.
The day of the installation, was perfect. I didn’t have to manage him like I do most crews that come into my home. He knew what needed to be done. There was great communication, and I was very pleased with the product when he was done.

BUYER BEWARE! HORRENDOUSLY BAD SERVICE!!!
We needed to purchase a 12ft x 18ft area carpet. We knew exactly which carpet we wanted. We had the brand name, color code and all. We went to Carpet to Go in Bellevue. All we wanted to do was see a sample to verify the color, have edges bound and pay. They didn’t have to do anything. No way could it be that simple here. We were told to come back the next day and they would have the sample brought down from Lynnwood. Took a long lunch break to do this and of course it wasn’t there. Next day, same thing. No phone call or nothing. We decided to give them another WHOLE week to get this sample from there Lynnwood store. Went in AGAIN on lunch break and not only was it not there, but when I expressed my concerns to the manager there was no apology… I was actually YELLED AT AND KICKED OUT OF THE STORE! After I let her know I would be telling of my experience on Unilocal I left. When I got to my car I witnessed the manager taking pictures of me with her cell phone through the front door of the store! Absurd! (I actually have pictures of her doing this and thought about posting them but decided against doing so) I called there district manager and we actually ended up meeting the next day in a Fred Meyer of all places because he told me he would give me a «great deal» because of all the hassle. He took a whopping $ 50 off of the almost $ 1000 cost. Whatever. He also promised it would be shipped to there Seattle store and ready in about a week. NOPE! Finally arrived 2.5 weeks later. The carpet ended up being fine but there customer service is absolutely piss poor. No phone calls when sample didn’t arrive, being embarrassed in front of people in the store by some miserable woman who obviously hates her job, to being completely mislead from start to finish. The manager of the Bellevue store should be fired for what she did. This place is ridiculous and I will make sure to tell everyone I can to not shop here. Go to Flynns. Better prices, better customer service… By the way, don’t forget to ask for a better price when carpet or floor shopping. Never pay there first quote to you. I learned that not all, but most carpet salesmen are one notch below used car salesmen.

Christina at Carpets to Go is absoulutely wonderful to work with. I went in on a saturday & needed carpets installed right away. She helped me find a carpet that was in stock locally and coordinated with the installers to take measurements as a rush. I got my carpets in time and love them. I would highly recommend Carpets to Go to anyone looking for exceptional service and quality carpets/​installation. Go see Christina… she’s awesome!

I’m having wood floors installed in my condo — an area of just under 1000 square feet. I’ve received quotes from 3 local contractors. Carpet to go was by far the lowest — and by a substantial amount — nearly 13% lower. This said, they require a 100% up front payment which I found odd (I have never worked with a contractor that requires payment in full before installation). I asked if this was negotiable and they said it was not, so I decided not to use them. On the plus side, I’m using their lower quote to negotiate a better deal with my other contractors — both of which have payment schedules that include final due after install. It’s worth noting that I am not shopping on price alone — and willing to pay more for a contractor I feel comfortable with. Requiring 100% up front makes me suspicious of this company (if the job is done poorly or there are other problems, what is your recourse)? If you are ok with it — these guys certainly win on price and were great to work with on the sales side. If you aren’t, I’d still recommend getting a quote from CTG and using it to negotiate with your preferred contractor.

Worked with Laura in the Bellevue store. She was knowledgeable about the products, laid out the pros and cons of porcelain versus ceramic. She was very good at identifying colors that would work with my room and ones that wouldn’t. So, on the design front — high marks.
Because this is the family room initially I wanted to have underfloor heating installed. But Laura had very little if any info about what would be involved, no idea on cost, etc. She basically gave me the name of an electrician to call. Huh? Am I the first person to ask for radiant heat?
The product came in several sizes. So, I ordered a box of 10×20 and 10×10 so I could layout the actual tiles and see what they looked like. Laura ordered the 10×20 and 20×20 instead. Anyway, the 20×20 box came in damaged with tiles broken. In the meantime, I worked out a pattern using just the 10×20 tiles. So, ordered those but not the installation. Laura charged me for installation of the backer board and for some other materials. She found the backer board error — but I had to go through the invoice several times and nudge her about the additional $ 200+ refund.
When I started checking around found the quote for the installation was very high. And what was interesting the installation quote didn’t include the thinset — which is of course necessary duh, or any tile cleaner (more on this later). I did my homework and found an experienced and highly recommended tile installation contractor who had worked on 10,000 square foot multi-​million dollar homes. His quote was substantially less than the quote provided by Laura.
Numerous issues with the tile. When he stopped by CTG to pick up the materials they weren’t on a pallet — something he told me all other companies he has worked with utilize. So, he had to hand carry every box to the trailer. Waste of his time.
Then many of the 10×20 were 9 ⁵⁄₈^th x 20 and 9 7/​8ths x 20. So, my contractor is having to search through the tile boxes trying to find 10×20 that were correctly cut. Then use the incorrect pieces for the sides. Huge time consumer since the pattern had straight lines — the tiles needed to be the same size.
Then there was the grout. So the grout CTG sold me sunk. The contractor followed verbatim the instructions from the manufacturer. Anyway, he ended up having to let the first one sit, come back and do a second grouting. This process took 8 hours — something that he said would normally have take 1 ½−2 hours. But the best part — the grout left a terrible haze on my very expensive porcelain tile. It looked horrible.
So the contractors (2 guys) are cleaning and cleaning –hand buffing. They didn’t want to use any machines for fear grout pieces would scratch the tiles. Wasn’t working — still a haze. So I called Laura. She told me she could order cleaner the next day and it would be there in a couple days. So, I’m supposed to have my house in disarray for another 3 days waiting for cleaner — I don’t think so. I asked her to speak with the contractor and come up with a solution. Instead she just tells the contractor he is ruining the floor — what? He was trying to clean it. And how about trying to find a solution instead of just arguing.
She made some disparaging comments about my contractor and I suggested that if she thought it was so easy to clean off the haze that she send two people out the next day (or she could come herself) and clean it. Her response — «this is not my problem.» Well it is your problem — because you sold me defective grout. My contractor told me he has never had this kind of problem with any other grout.
And according to Laura — all contractors know to have the grout haze cleaner. Ok — then why wasn’t it on the original quote that included the installation if its part of the normal process?
So I have a $ 5,000 floor that looks like crap.
Avoid this business!

Laura and Betsy at Carpets To Go are incredible. They found me the perfect carpet, at a great price and coordinated the installation with terrific installers. I highly recommend them and Carpets To Go, I couldn’t be happier.

Good sales, good installation, but the «expert» who came out to measure the room measured incorrectly and we ordered not enough carpet. The installer managed to at least not leave a hole by adding patches and a couple of extra seams. Triple-​check their measurements yourself before you get into trouble.

I ordered some luxury vinyl flooring on a Saturday and it was ready by Wednesday the next week! The service was great and I felt very comfortable with them. I installed the floor in a bathroom and I can’t believe the result. The flooring is unique and feels more custom than anything I found in Home Depot or lowes. I am 100% pleased with the entire process. It was very easy to install as well. I will be coming back for all the square feet in my home.

My husband & I have already recommended Carpet To Go to many of our family & friends. We had great experience from beginning to end. They had a wide range of selections including ones that were very reasonable along with the easily cleaned (for a family with pets & young kids like us). We were very impressed with all that they had to offer in carpet & flooring options. They seem to have everything & were more than happy to help with all of our questions when deciding!
After our decision, a nice & friendly man came to our house to take the measurements & give us a truer estimate. He was very thorough & knowledgeable. We just showed him the different rooms in our house while he wrote down his calculations & quickly gave us our cost estimate. It was just so easy. And yes, the estimate was *very* close to the true price at the end even with changes we made after the project had already started. They were very flexible with everything including the changes we made & also were more than reasonable. The crew that came for installation were on time, professional & cordial.
Every thing from choosing, estimates, installation & the transaction went very smoothly. We are so happy with our new floors. We felt like first class clients. They took care of everything from the old carpet & padding to the things that came from under the carpet. They cleaned up their area nice & neat each time they left so we didn’t feel like we were walking around a construction zone nor did we have to be concerned that any of our pets would get into debris. It was all so nice & easy! Now we have beautiful bamboo flooring & carpet throughout.
I would recommend Carpet To Go to everyone who asks!

We used Carpet to Go (Bellevue location) to recarpet our downstairs. We were thrilled with the customer service every step of the process as well as the outcome. We can’t wait to purchase new upstairs carpet. We won’t go anywhere else but Carpet To Go!

I normally don’t write reviews but I felt I needed to. I’ve established fantastic relationship with Carpet To Go over the years. In particular, Ami in the Seattle location has been my go-​to contact. What makes Ami so special:
1. She is extremely knowledgeable about all types of carpet
2. She is very responsible and communicates clearly
3. She cares about making sure the customer is 100% satisfied
4. She will help guide you to the «RIGHT» product for your home
5. She has great follow-​up

I had a good installation experience with Carpet to Go.
My concern is on price — I have asked around and learned we overpaid by about $ 400 – 500 on labor. I questioned the $ 1500 labor quote we received from Dan at the Bellevue store. He insisted that was the best he could do, stating he had already provided me the 10% discount we were eligible for (he agreed to the 10% Microsoft prime discount.) I paid $ 8.00 a yard installation PLUS the price of a carpet pad. Based on my research, I should not have paid more than $ 6.00 per square yard including pad.
The installation went well and we’re happy with the carpet, but I call shenanigans on the price and wish I had done more price comparison before handing over my credit card. If you go to this store, ask for the quote, THEN tell them you want your whatever discount, and THEN do a sanity check to see if it falls within the $ 6.00 per square yard (including carpet pad.) I overpaid, but you don’t have to.

I had wood (laminate) floors put into my condo and it was a BIG job. I was scared to death because a) I’d never done such a large project on my own and b) It was a big financial commitment. I worked with my sales guy, Paul, to pick everything out and he was so sweet and patient. I normally make my decisions on the spot but this one took me several visits. He was there every time to show me my options and talk me through everything. We planned it (challenging), executed it (even more challenging), and I LOVE my new floors. The installation crew that they work with are sweethearts – good guys who are willing to come back and make it right if you have any questions or concerns (which they did for me). I can recommend them without hesitation.

Oh hell, where to start…
By the end of it I had reasonable-​looking carpet and was happy. That counts for something. But along the way a number of things happened that made me less than happy.
Just the facts: I went in. They seemed to have a reasonable selection of carpet, including a selection of remnants for the cheap (like me).
They gave me a quote. I went home and remeasured. I returned and corrected my square footage estimates. They ‘adjusted’ the estimate but were totally and obviously lowballing it (perhaps not intentionally). I did my own math in my head, rolled my eyes, put down a $ 50 deposit, signed an agreement to have them come out and measure. To their vast surprise, their initial estimate turned out to be very low. We went ahead with the new estimate.
We wanted to pull out the old carpet & pad ourselves for various reasons. They actually gave us helpful and friendly advice on doing this, so that’s a point in their favor.
We thought it was cool that CTG has their own installation company. I have always heard that this means more reliable installation and better quality. Well… By the end of the install, most of it looked pretty good. The carpet has light stripes running its length and around a few doors and edges the stripes were pretty obviously distorted where they were stretched on the tack strips, but otherwise good.
Except that the vertical blind across the sliding back door was half pulled off the wall, drywall damaged, not a good thing.
Then began a 2 week (at least) ordeal of calling CTG, asking for resolution, getting «oh, we’ll talk to our installation company» or «oh, we’ll talk to the handyman» or «oh … we’ll get back to you.» Seriously, there seemed to be no communication between install and sales divisions, very disappointing. When the handyman finally started showing up, he was never on time (canceled various times and if he did show up was usually hours late), strange (always called to schedule appointments at 9 PM or later), unprepared (didn’t even have a ladder or a dropcloth), and patched large holes in drywall by simply using wall putty. Aurgh.
So. I have carpet. It’s carpet I’m happy with. But the experience made me wary of the company.
