Advanced Endodontics

I had severe pain in my both ears. Dr Alibhai advised me root canals on three grinders. I got one done, but decided to wait for other two. He advised the root canals even without taking X-​ray of the tooth. In the meanwhile I went to another dentist and he diagnosed that I have a TMJ issue due to which I have ear pain and my teeth are all alright and no root canals are needed. Per my other dentist teeth can be sensitive, but does not necessarily mean to have a root canal unless infection has reached to the nerve, which can only be seen in the X-​ray. Dr. Alibhai was so keen to get my root canal, that he was ready to give me next day morning appointment for root canal. I would never return to him now for any dental work.

I came to Advanced Endodontics with a ‘dental emergency’ requiring a root canal and they got me in for a consult with Dr. Kenji who reviewed my scans and was able to conduct the root canal on the spot. It took under an hour and there was zero discomfort. Dr. Kenji explained what he was doing each step of the way and his dental assistant, Alex had a sweet and nurturing bedside manner. They were professional and courteous. That evening, I received a call from Dr. Kenjii to check in on me to make sure I was doing ok.
I had had some pain on the other side of my mouth which we addressed the following Monday. I requested to work with Dr. Kenjii for my other tooth issue as well. I felt comfortable sitting in his chair for my second root canal which ended up taking a bit longer because my tooth had multiple roots. Again, Kenji checked in with me during the procedure and was attentive to my needs (rinses, etc) and he kept me informed each step of the way. And, on schedule, I received a follow up call that evening to make sure I was feeling okay.
No one likes to have dental work, especially me, but I can say that I fully trust Dr. Kenjii and the staff at Advanced Endodontics to work on my teeth anytime. He was consistent with his treatment and he was kind and courteous and he definitely knows what he is doing.
If you are in need of specialty dental work such as a root canal or extraction, I highly recommend Dr. Kenji. If you read this review, thank you Dr. Kenji, it was nice to be your patient!

I developed bad tooth pain on Weds., saw my regular dentist on Thursday, and had a referral to see Dr. Alibhai on Friday morning for a root canal. He and his assistant were so personable and put me at ease by explaining what would happen. (I’d always heard horrible things about root canals!) I had some novocaine and did not feel anything during the procedure. I even got a call the next morning from Dr. Alibhai to check on me. I’m doing great and am so grateful to be done with that awful pain.

This was the best root canal I’ve ever had. The anesthesia was strong but not weirdly uncomfortable. The doctor and his assistant were wonderful and explained everything more than adequately. I remember the anesthesia the. The next thing I know it was over. What??? You mean I actually fell asleep during the root canal? This has never happened, and I’ve had more than a few RCs.

I was visiting my dentist over summer break, and he discovered that I needed a root canal that was somewhat complex, so he referred me to Dr. Beppu. Dr. Beppu is one of the most competent, kind, and caring professionals I have met. He not only performed my root canal flawlessly, but he also followed up personally with a phone call to make sure that I was doing OK after the procedure. Dr. Beppu and his team truly care about their patients, and I feel blessed to have been referred to such an amazing endodontist! If you ever need a root canal or any other type of endodontic treatment, I would highly recommend Dr. Beppu.

I am truly shocked and disappointed at how unprofessionally and distastefully Rhina, the office manager, has handled my situation, but not surprised in the least to see similar complaints from others.
Always run your bill by your insurance when dealing with this place BEFORE you pay, and don’t go here if they are out of your network because they will work the system and charge you for whatever they can get away with.
Dr. Kevin Otto referred me to Dr. Beppu’s Advanced Endodontic office Dec 2013 for an exam. I originally didn’t want to go to this office because I knew they were out of my insurance’s network (Aetna), and knew it would be more expensive, but was told by Dr. Otto that they would work with me financially.
The exam was brief, I was told that everything looked fine, and after checking out at the front desk, I was waved out of the office with no bill. On Jan 2^nd, I got a bill for $ 358, which included TWO exams for $ 106 each. Two agents from Aetna told me it was probably a mistake to be billed twice.
I spoke to the office manager at Dr. Beppu’s office, Rhina, who told me that the bill stands as is, and the reason that I’m being billed twice is because they looked at two teeth. Rhina said that she doesn’t know how other offices do it, but at theirs, they charge per tooth for exams, unless the teeth are on the same side of my mouth. I asked if they would be willing to work with me financially, and explained to Rhina that I went to their office under that impression, and was denied.
I called Aetna back, and was told that it is not standard to charge for two exams. Unfortunately, they said they couldn’t do anything about it because Dr. Beppu is not in their network, but that I should take this up with the dental insurance board.
After talking to the dental insurance board, I called Dr. Beppu’s office (multiple times) asking for a signed treatment plan that shows the services and fees. I never received a response.
I was out of town after that for two weeks, and came back to a call from a collections agency for $ 375 from Dr. Beppu’s office, and no signed treatment plan in the mail. The collection agency said if I were disputing this with Dr. Beppu’s office, they would be able to reimburse me.
I was at a loss, so I called Dr. Otto’s office on 4/​16, explained the situation, and was also told that it isn’t right to be charged twice for an exam. I was told by Katherine, the receptionist, that Rhina claimed that I was making no effort, they never heard from me, and that they called me many times, but it would ring and ring and then disconnect.
I immediately called Rhina, and was appalled by what she said to me. When I said that if they tried to call at a certain time that I had been out town for two weeks, she laughed and told me that just because I go on a vacation doesn’t mean my bill just goes away. I was told that they never heard from me, and that I was never told I would be sent a treatment plan because there wouldn’t have been anything like that. And she told me that the only reason I was calling at that point was because I had been sent to collections. I was told that I was fully aware that I wouldn’t be covered for anything before I came to them, to which I explained is different than being fully aware that they are out of my network.
She eventually said she would talk to Dr. Beppu after he got back from being out of town to see if he feels like he would want to reimburse me for one of the exams. Two weeks went by with no call back, so I called back again and was quickly and simply told that Dr. Beppu doesn’t see a reason to reimburse me for the extra exam.
After more phone calls to the dental insurance commissioner, and an attorney’s office, I was told that because they didn’t have to go through insurance to bill me, that they legally can bill me how they want to, but that it is not ethical and would have been denied by insurance if I would’ve had them to vouch for me.
I am now taking further action because of their lack of understanding, and unethical service. I also have printed off my phone records, which show 7 calls that I made to this office from ²⁄₁₈ to ⁴⁄₁₆.
This is the first time I have ever had to write a negative review, but I am VERY disappointed that I was talked into going to this office under the impression that they would have helped me out financially, but just the opposite has happened.
I wish I would have known before I even sat down in a chair that I wouldn’t have been covered for anything, and that I would have been paying out of pocket for two exams, and feel it is the job of the person behind the desk who takes care of the billing to know these things at the time of service.

This review is late in coming, but I remember my root canal like it was yesterday, not because of the pain but because of the incredible care and attention I received from Dr. Alibhai. On a Friday night whilst cleaning my room, I was beset with tooth pain of the highest degree that radiated throughout my face. I called Dr. Alibhai’s office and was given an emergency contact number. Seeing as I was in excruciating pain dr. Ali hai prescribed an adequate pain killer on the spot and told me to contact again if I could not sleep, «if you cannot sleep, then I cannot sleep». I’ve never heard of such sacrifice and care from a doctor, I thought I was in a movie.
The next morning dr. Alibhai opened the clinic, prepared tea for my wife and performed the root canal without any staff assistance. Being the medical genius he is Dr. Alibhai completed the root canal no sweat, and even provided valuable wedding planning tips.
If you need to see an endodontist, look no further!

Renton and Bellevue Clinic are run in a haphazard manner.
IMO, Prices are more expensive than other comparable doctors in the Seattle/​Eastside region.
Front desk is very rude.
My experience was that the clinic is more concerned about payments than customer satisfaction. To be fair, I got the feeling that people at Walmart would have trusted me more than this clinic. :(
The doctor conveniently bailed himself out and let the front desk go on and on about the terms and conditions.
I am done with this clinic and do not recommend them to anyone. Check other clinics in the area for options.

I had a root canal done at Advanced Endodontics last year. It was definitely an emergency situation; I was in a lot of pain on a Friday morning. They were very professional and seriously thorough. Kenji talked about what was happening all the way through.
Absolutely zero pain after some soreness for a day, but nothing too noticeable. Had no issues with the tooth since then.

Tooth or Dare?
Tooth: I was thoroughly impressed with Dr. Alibhai and his team. All of my options were clearly explained to me along with their corresponding costs. Not only was everyone extremely courteous and professional, they seemed to genuinely care about my well-​being. My root canal was performed flawlessly and I wouldn’t dare go anywhere else for my endodontic needs.

Had some «delightful» tooth pain on Sunday, so my dentist referred me first thing Monday morning to A.E. They got me in at noon for a root canal and were wonderful. Explained to me the procedure, got me numbed up, and were totally professional and friendly throughout the operation. Dr. Kenji called me that night to check on how I was doing, and three days later I got a lovely letter thanking me for choosing their office for the procedure. I don’t really anticipate having any more dental emergencies, nor do I look forward to them, but if a similar situation arises again I will be picking A.E. for the procedure with or without my dentist’s referral.

I highly recommend Dr. Kenji Beppu. He repaired my 10 year old sons broken tooth along with performing a root canal on it. My son was comfortable and the procedure went very well.
The reason I leave 1 star off is for the receptionist at the Bellevue location. She lacks customer service skills, and can be unfriendly and rude.
Dr. Beppu has another office in Renton. I would give that location 5 stars. The receptionist there is wonderful, and that location feels much more updated and comfortable.

I can’t say enough about my experience at Advanced Endodontics. Dr. Kenji Beppu was amazing. I was in a lot of pain when I went to the office, and he was very quick to diagnose the issue, while doing his best to keep me comfortable. Once we identified the problem, he was ready to perform the root canal procedure. I felt very little to no pain at all. He had a gentle yet very professional chair-​side manner. He told me what he was doing every step of the way, no surprises. He then followed up that evening with a phone call to my cell phone to ask how I was doing. That was followed by a hand written thank you note 2 days later, thanking me for choosing them for my procedure. I was so impressed! I will be going there for all future endodontic procedures, and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you Dr. Beppu!

No one likes going to the dentist but Advanced Endodontics made the experience of getting a root canal a lot less stressful. Thanks to all of the staff and doctors at Advanced Endodontics for helping me feel better. Al J.

I had an amazing experience at Advanced Endodontics. I called in on Monday evening with minor tooth ache (thanks to a DQ ice cream: P) and they were able to accommodate me at lunch time on Tuesday. Dr. Alibhai was very courteous and knowledgeable and was able to pinpoint the problem quickly. I went thinking they will reschedule me for a later day to do the root canal since I wasn’t hurting too bad, but to my surprise, the procedure was completed before I left the office that day, without much pain. Dr. Alibhai followed up the next day to see how I was doing, which I felt was a sign of great service. I would recommend Dr. Alibhai to anybody who is looking for a doctor with great experience and one who cares about the patients.

My medical experience was good. Very little pain, everyone seemed competent, and my procedure went well (so far anyway). I did have to make 3 visits for 1 root canal, not sure if that is normal or not.
The reason for 3 stars? It’s very expensive. I was referred here by my dentist, who I adore, so I just went without questioning anything, but in hindsight I wish I would have shopped around for someone in my plan. This cost a *lot* more than my plan covered.

I was referred here by my dentist at Bella Dental down the street. Expecting to have a wonderful experience, I arrived there and was told that a root canal was $ 1,600 per tooth instead of the $ 1,400 I was quoted. Also, the receptionist was extremely rude, and did not manage several people well. I ended up canceling my appointment and leaving. I got home and decided to shop around for prices (since $ 1,600/tooth seemed insane), and luckily found Dr. Cohen at West Seattle Endodontics. The price for a root canal was $ 1,055 per tooth, and the entire experience was fantastic! So happy I went with my gut feeling, and left Advanced Endodontics…

I just had the most pleasant dental experience ever at advanced endodontics. I know root canals and pleasant seem like an oxymoron, but I absolutely mean it.
I have dental phobia. I go to appointments heavily sedated and the slightest thing is enough to make things worse. Innocuous stuff like insecure assistants or a tense atmosphere. None of that there.
The procedure was fast and both the Dr and the assistant were upbeat but not in the overly cheerful annoying way. He knew exactly what he was doing. I had no discomfort besides the numbing injection. Makes me wish I had had all my root canals there because I assure you it can be very different.
I also had no pain afterward, amazing. Again, I wish I could turn back time and undo the root canals I had elsewhere. I am still in shock that it was entirely pain and discomfort free.
The receptionist is also very nice and processional, though I admit she’s rather terse in e-​mail, but nothing like that in person.

The root canal failed, and it was the worst customer service experience ever.
