Loved loved loved the food and service. The green ceviche was awesome(I asked for less chile) and the enchiladas mexicanas were just like my grandmas.

This place is amazing! We ordered the mole enchiladas, enmoladas and tres moles and they were so delicious! The taste is authentic and rich. The white rice offset the flavors beautifully. The only reason we did not rate it 5 stars was because the horchata was not the best. Service was great and flavor is worth coming back and recommending!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated inside. It is bursting with color and vibrant collectibles from Mexico. The service is excellent and the servers very hospitable. The food presentation is superb and too carefully laid out to even begin to eat. The tequila based guacamole is a recommended side dish. The rice is very tasty and fluffy. Really quite delicious. The mole drizzled chips that are served as a starter are also appetizing. In retrospect the side dishes are much better than the entrees. I ordered fillet Veracruz and it was a bit bland but fresh. Overall, I will return based on the service, rich décor, and variety of items on the menu.

If ur not Mexican and ur looking for a Mexican place than think twice before coming here. There are no burritos, quesadillas or anything that comes to mind as Mexican. They focus more on the presentation of the plate than the actual quality and taste of the food. Very expensive for the portions… I was left very unsatisfied

This place is awful! I have experienced this place twice and it was not good the first or second time. I ordered the chicken Birria and it was a bowl of grease with a piece of dark chicken swimming in the bowl. yikes! I send it back and got the chicken with cream and it was awful too, no flavor and weird texture, lets just say that it looked like throw up. So I decided to just pretend to eat it. It was very disappointing since it was my Birthday and we were with a party of 10 and everyone was unhappy with the food.

I went to this restaurant with some coworkers for lunch. From the outside, the place doesn’t look like much, but inside it is very cute and colorful. It also has a store in the front, which can sometimes be weird, but in this case, it definitely goes with the overall vibe. I actually ended up buying a gift for a friend after we ate! The food is not cheap, but it is worth the price for the quality of the food and the overall experience. The waiter was very nice and attentive. She brought us some chips with different moles, which were really delicious — each mole had a very distinct flavor. The mole sauces were so tasty that one coworker ordered mole flautas with extra sauce on the side! I am usually so-so on moles — I often find them to be too thick and gloppy. These were smooth and creamy, yet not so heavy that they make you feel full from a few bites. I would order a mole dish here before I would order one at another restaurant. I had the cochinita pibil, and it was excellent. I would recommend this dish strongly, especially if you like cochinita. It came wrapped in a banana leaf. The spices were balanced, and it had a fresh citrusy sourness that was absolutely delicious. The rice was also well-cooked and the beans were tasty. It came with habanero salsa on the side. It was actually spicy, which I appreciated. I am usually not a huge dessert fan, but the desserts here are not to be missed. We got the plantains and the churros. Neither sounded particularly delicious to me, but I was licking the plate by the end of the meal — especially the plate with the churros, which were tiny and stacked up on a pile of delicious caramel. I told my coworkers that I would love to be buried in a coffin of these churros and had to eat my way out of it! They thought I was kidding, but I totally was not.

Unilocalers you have failed me. This place was given a 4 stars from a decent amount of reviews. In my opinion the food was mediocre. No flavor and the service was slow. There wasn’t busy but good thing our party wasn’t in a rush.

I just had one of the most delicious breakfast meal ever. I had heard about this place after seeing a Bobby Flay challenge. Their specialty is mole. Not just one type but various versions of a classic Latin«BBQ sauce». During the BF challenge they made a chile relleno but I opted for the chilaquiles since it was still breakfast. Beans are smooth and flavorful but not overpowering. The mole is rich but has a blast of spice with every bite. Chilaquiles en mole… Delicious!!! Definitely will make a trip here again.

La Casita Mexicana!!! When it comes to Mexican food: THISPLACEROCKS!!! If your out on the hunt, for the most delicious, satisfying and rapped up with excellent friendly service… Found it!!! The environment is a very traditional yet tasteful Mexican/Spanish style serting! They started us out with Chips and three different stiles of Mole as our sauce! It’ll rev-up your taste buds and has you looking forward to what’s next! I had the«Chile en Nogada»(Have Mercy) In my experience… It has got to be the best Chile relleno I’ve had till this day!(Believe me, I’ve had many!) Have you ever tried: Lemonade w/Chia seeds? It was amazing! The service was Awesome! Every body was very attentive and tactful. I only wish I had room for dessert… maybe next time! I guaranty, there will be many next times! Side note: I heard that they have a second restaurant(my friends stated; that it wasn’t as good as this one) I only know about this one. So, if your interested, try this one first!

I have come twice. And, unfortunately, the two experiences were slightly different. I only say that because the first time, this place was FLAWLESSLYPERFECT! And the second time, there were problems. I wish I had written the 5 star review first and could’ve updated. Anyway… A nice, friendly restaurant, with plenty of street parking, in a ghetto. That’s the situation. It’s not even remotely dangerous, but it’s a ghetto. Get over it. The food is better than any Mexican food you ever had anywhere. Now, I will be honest. I’ve never been a big Mexican food fan. I grew up in NYC, and everything Mexican there is pretty bogus and shit tacos or Tex-Mex gringo food. And, while I’ve found authentic and even delicious Mexican food in L.A., this place is super special. It’s high scale, top drawer Mexican food. Like you’d expect maybe in Beverly Hills. Maybe they have a new location there. Anyway, you usually get the soup of the day. First time, lentil, which was okay. Second time, fideo, which was OH-KAY. You also get free tostado chips in their three famous mole sauces. Try them out and decide which you like or don’t like before ordering a mole dish. They have 3 very distinct flavors. Appetizers. Both times we had the taquitos platter, which is 6 decent sized taquitos in a green sauce and sour cream. They were delicious both times. I mean, perfect tasting. However, the second time is where something started going wrong for me(and it might not have been the taquitos). I am very sensitive to things like MSG and a few other things of this nature. They make my head start to ache and make me feel loopy. And sure enough, it started kicking in after the appetizer. Now, it could have been something in the chips, or something in the margueritas the second time. Cause I had both the first time and they were both good. The drinks could be stronger(like much), but they are okay. It’d be nice to see them offer a pitcher of Sangria or at least a pitcher of Margueritas at a slightly discounted cost. But, yeah, the second time, my head started to ache, and I started to feel unwell in my head between the apps and dinner the second time. Entrees. The first time was beyond perfect. I had the conquistor plate. It was a great piece of beef and delicious. Infallible. The second time, not so much. See, the first time, my 6 year old(who will eat nothing), took a bite of my plate and then proceeded to consume my entire plate minus a few bites for me. The second time we got him the plate, knowing he’d eat it. Well, after two bites, he spit it out. I went and ate half of his plate, and sure enough, not only were the flavors not there, but the meat was tough and sinewy. No wonder he turned on it. The first time, the Missus loved her meal and had the Pechugas de pollo con rajas de chile poblano. Totally good. The second time, she had the Filete de Pescado en crema de siete chiles. It was good, as well. I tried the cochinita pobil, despite the waiter not recommending it. It actually smelled a little weird when it arrived, but it tasted fantastic. I liked it. I’ve had both their beans(black and refried) and both are above par with anything you’ve tasted. So, first trip would be 5 stars and that was just a few months ago. Second trip would be more like 3 ¾ stars. Mainly because something set off a reaction in myself and the Missus. We both felt loopy, had headaches, and felt generally unsettled due to something in the food.(can’t be the marguerita as the Missus doesn’t drink). Something gave us a bit of poisoning, and while I am sensitive to it, the Missus is never. So something was wrong the second time. I will still go back(and check out their newer venue). The food is beyond what I thought Mexican food can be. I just hope they check the dates of my pictures and figure out maybe who was working and what was going on in the kitchen that could’ve caused the problems I’m describing.

It pains me to say it, but Jonathan Gold pilgrims, you may want to sit this one out. THEGOOD: The décor and atmostphere are tops! 5 stars! The service is fantastic! The starter tortilla chips with 3 types of mole is just so, so delicious, but unfortunately, that’s where the meal tops out. THETRUTH: True DF cuisine, you can pick your fish your meat, etc, and make your own tacos. Presentation is amazing. Margarita was very weak and watery. I figured I’d just get carne asada, but the waiter advised me to get the 3 meat platter — cecina, chorizo, and carne asada. Maybe it was just a bad day, but the cecina was terrible — sooo… tough and chewy. I understand it’s not a true steak, but it was not pleasurable to chomp on a bit so tough. Has success gone to Casita’s head? For me, it may not be worth the drive. Of course the house speciality is chile en nogada, but it can be on the sweeter side, and I was a little more savory.

Another disappointing mexican restaurant with some great interior décor. The food was just ok, nothing that stood out. You get greeted w/a basket of tortilla chips drizzled w/3 moles. The enchiladas my sister ordered were very salty. Chicken was dry. My mother makes better enchiladas… I ordered the stuffed pepper and although the mushrooms were perfectly cooked, it was just ok. My dad ordered some meat that came w/beans and esquite(corn w/cheese and mayo) –very random side dish if you ask me. He also said that the meat was dry and a bit tough. Portion size was also small for the price. The chia seed lemonade is refreshing and not sweet at all, i loved it. But if you have a sweet tooth you might want to add extra sugar. Our waiter Rafa was outstanding, always nice and very polite. Wish the food was tastier though. Parking sucks, you have to valet or find parking on the street. The one unisex restroom they have for the entire restaurant is a bit ridiculous if you ask me, plus it was super dirty.

A little out of the way, but worth it. The Mexican food they do here is authentic yet eclectic. I thought I had had everything there is to have in Mexican cuisine but this surprised me. And delighted me. We tried a lot of dishes: –Shrimp Veracruzana — shrimp was big, fresh and sauce was spicy! –The chicken enchiladas with the three moles. All the moles were delicious but the mole poblano red pepian were my faves –Carne Asada — meat was a little fatty and under seasoned but the cheese wrapped in cactus that it came with and the corn tortillas and beans were delicious! –last but not least and the stand out favorite for me as far as taste and originality was the Chile en Nogada. It’s a fresh chile relleno, that is cold and not battered or fried but is still stuffed with a ground beef mixture and then topped with a pecan cream sauce and fresh pomegranate seeds. It’s quite sweet but the freshness of the chile and the sour notes from the seeds balance it out. I also had the most delicious agua de pepino(cucumber juice) — perfection. The waiters were super kind and helpful and our food came right away. They don’t have a kid’s menu but they made my 4 yr old son two little quesadillas that he gobbled up along with the delicious and comforting sopa de fideo soup that they give you with every entrée. There’s valet parking but there was plenty of street parking around 2pm. I will definitely be back.

They definitely know how to satisfy! Their food is always presentable, given in a timely manner, and waiters and hostesses are always professional and well mannered too. The place knows how to assemble a cultural environment along with an art gallery and strong creativity kudos! I only bring special people to eat here with me and since the food and the service here is very special and unique from any other Mexican restaurant. The price is freaking amazing and you get a soup of the day! Love La Casita Mexicana. Me encanta La Casita Mexicana.

The expression, «hole on the wall» is an under statement. This venue is a gem in the city of Bell, Ca. A very good friend invited me for Mexican food for breakfast. Upon arriving the location, I didn’t think jotting of the venue from the appearance of the exterior of the building. Boy was I pleased once I entered the restaurant. It was if I just arrived to a fancy authentic restaurant in Mexico. The décor is very colorful with bright colors on the walls. The walls are full of Mexico’s culture framed paintings. The flooring appeared to be tike to the naked eye but was dyed cemented with nicely few small ceramic tiles. The restrooms was modern but definitely a touch of Mexico’s culture as well. We were greeted by a all dressed in black hosted with a smile and eagerness to seat us. Although we were the first customers since the restaurant had just literally opened, I observed within 15 minutes of being seated customers were flocking in. Soon 90% of the empty tables were now occupied by families waiting to be served. Immediately after being seated I asked our waiter if I could take pictures of the restaurant since I was very pleased on how beautiful it was decorated and how it felt as if I was in Mexico. The waiter with no hesitation responded, «but of course». As I began to take pictures the waiter bought tortillas chips topped with housed mole and what appeared to be cilantro creamy sauce. It was delicious. My friend ordered as an appetizer a plate which is best described as a cheese quesadilla. when the plate was brought to the table, I realized boy was I wrong thinking it was just a cheese quesadilla. Not only did it look so beautiful but the flavor was melting and to due for. The hand made thick tortilla was filled with mushrooms, nopales(cactus?), queso(cheese). The tortilla was wrapped in a banana leaf. You must try it. Being my first time here, I ordered huevos rancheros. The plate was beautuful. The salsa for the eggs was superb. It wasn’t spicy nor mild, just perfect. My plate also consisted with refried beans and hand made tortillas. The flavors were not the typical Mexican plate. It was a taste of combo of many states from Mexico. My friend ordered Chile relleno. Not only was the presentation of this plate gorgeous from all the colors but it was amazingly delicious. The chile was stuffed with ground beef, topped with crema Mexicana(Mexican cream) and pramogranade seeds, side white rice and vegetable soup. After tasting my food and some of my friend’s food I could taste a bit of varies different states from Mexico integrated into the flavors. The restaurant also has a beautiful centered«la tiendita» where Mexican artifact items are for sale. Parking was only available on the street in front of the restaurant. The restaurant accepts cash and credit cards. Overall I must rate this venue 5 stars from the delicious tasty authentic flavored Mexican food, the unique Mexico cultured décor, the outstanding service provided by the host and waiter, the cleaned establishment, rapid service and much much more. I will definitely be returning. I must thank my kind Friend Veronica for bringing me to experience a taste of Mexico in the city of Bell.

The L A Times’ Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurant in L A 2014 List ranked La Casita Mexicana as it’s 68th best restaurant. From his list, this was the closes one to my work and I really had to try them. First off, Parking. They don’t have a parking lot. It’s just strictly street parking(2 hr max). This could be an issue when they get busy, but I got a spot half a block away. When we finally got inside the restaurant, WOW. I love the colors. It’s beautiful in here. We quickly got seated and offered some Tortilla Chips with 3 different mole sauce. I love mole so it was definitely a treat for me. The mole were not as robust as I’ve had in the past and the chips needed some salt. This was an interesting experience, I definitely have to try the mole again. After we placed our order, the waitress came over and gave us our soup(which came with the entrée). Creamed Carrot Soup — I liked this soup. It was light and tasty, a good start to the meal. Looking at the menu, two items stood out to me(a beef shank dish and a pork shoulder dish) and the pork dish won out, hahaha(surprise? lol). Conchinita Pibil«Pork shoulder marinated with achiote and braised in achiote paste and bitter orange juice. Serve with white rice, black beans & habonero sauce» Reading that made my mouth water, tasting it was WOW!!. Super tender and flavorful. The habanero sauce they gave was good, not too spicy(for me). Good thing they gave a whole habanero on the side and that really kick it up. wooooo weeeee. YUM! I highly recommend this dish. My co-worker got the Enchiladas w/Cecina«Enchiladas were filled with Cotija cheese, smothered with a red sauce and accompanied with cecina(a thin marinated beef)» I didn’t taste it, but he said it was just okay. Special mention for the home made corn tortilla which were really good. Nothing beats a freshly made tortilla with your entrée =) We also got the Lemonade with Chia seeds. I know a lot of people like this drink, but it was just so so for us. It is more lime-ade than lemonade and it was on the weak side. The chia seeds was fun to look at, but it didn’t add to the flavor in any way(not to us anyways). Service was very good. Our waitress answered some questions we had about the dishes and was Johnny(Jane) on the spot for all our needs. Excellent! Price: It is more of an upscale Mexican restaurant and the prices reflect that and to me the pricing was reasonable. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. Don’t come with the expectation of a regular taqueria or run of the mill Mexican corner joint. Their food and taste is different. I enjoyed my meal, but my co-worker was just okay with his. I think you need an open mind when you come through these doors and explore a side of Mexican cuisine you’re not familiar with. Would I come back, DEFINITELY! Thank you Mr. Gold, I look forward to trying out the rest of your list(The ones that I can afford anyways, hahaha). Come and try it for yourself and decide. 2015 Review #63
