I’ve been coming here for years but I think today was my last time there. Waitress was nice but lacked training. I asked for a molcajete and I asked for the chorizo to be substituted with more chicken because I’m allergic to it. As soon as my plate came it looked dull and wrong. It had no cactus, onion and a tiny piece of chicken. I asked the waitress for the veggies and her reply, «they should be in the bottom». I showed her they weren’t and she said she would get them for me. After waiting 15 minutes I opted to start eating since my family’s food had been brought way before mines and I was the last one. To my surprise, I find a big a** piece of chorizo aka pork on my plate. I still remained calmed. Waitress brought me the veggies after we asked for the bill and then insisted that she could pack them to go. I sure did not leave a tip either. Looks like I’ll be looking on Unilocal for another restaurant who is careful about customers orders.

Came in for the Molcajete and the hand made tortillas was delicious. Good size portions and good food. Greeted and seated promptly, only negative is waitress could be a bit more attentive to customers.(utensils and refills).

The food is average a bit pricy, good portions but since I’m not a big eater I really don’t care. Overrated when it comes to waiting in line on a weekend. I literally live 2 min away and it’s the restaurant I visit maybe once every 2 years. The indoor is too dark… it would be nice for a patio. … they don’t give refills on drinks which is kinda weird since it’s a big restaurant I would suggest they invest in a fountain drink machine.

I’m a regular here. I’ve been coming to this restaurant around 3 years now. I’ve had many bad experiences. Hair in my food, wrong order, and the worst bad service. Sometimes there’s isn’t anyone to greet or seat you which is pretty bad to start with. Servers what can I say, They need to smile, speak up and be more attentive. I gave them four stars because the food is pretty good. I went in today for Mother’s Day wait time was pretty bad. Party of 9, I was told 1 hour well It took at least 1.5 :(but it’s Mother’s Day so it was understandable. My server was the Best, I believe her name is Elisa(short hair very pretty). The best server I’ve had so far. I would had given them 5 stars but they sat a party that was after me in a bigger table and we ended up in table where we couldn’t even talk to each other. They need a better host. The two girls there were something else. But yeah, food is good I order the same thing all the time. Camarones a la Diabla with bacon bomb!

Bad service!!!(But good food) We walked in and nobody was there to greet us or seat us. Once we got seated by one of the cleaning members it toke about 15 minutes to get our drinks and 30 minutes literally to get our food. Disappointed.

Have been coming here for years and the food is pretty good. What has really gone downhill is the service. TERIBBLE service. The waitresses have a mad face all the time, rude and are extremely slow. There was a small group next to us that waited for service for a while and left because no one came to them. They got up and left a note on the menu saying«bad service!». I kid you not… about 10 times waitresses, busboy and owner passed by the table and no one bothered to look at the big note. After 30 minutes one of the girls saw it and started laughing and started showing it off to the others and they all laughed! This new group of waitresses are very unprofessional and very immature. Its sad that this makes people not want to go back to this restaurant because the food is pretty good.

Bad service! Waitresses have a really bad attitude, and they’re very slow it took Waitress Denise 6 minutes to bring me the Tortillas another 3 minutes for a spoon, another 2 for onion and cilantro for my tacos WTF! If you’re Mexican you know that food is not all that. Carne Asada plate was EXTREMELYDRY! I had to put lemon and salt so it could have some type of flavor. The Salsa that you get with the tortilla chips was very watery! It used to be a great place to come food Used to be delicious Don’t know what happen.

This is going to be my new go to lunch spot. Food and service were amazing. My waitress was very attentive and make sure we had a good experience. The food, maaaaan that birria de Chivo(11.99 if I’m not mistaken) is seriously the best I’ve had in a while and accompanied with their delicious tortillas hechas de Mano are to die for. It’s a pretty good size plate, I had to take some home for dinner(which I’m not complaining about.) I also got the agua de piña which is also good, but no free refills.

Great place. By far one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The molcajete and birria are the best plates of the house!

Tables are little dirty, plates from the previous customer are still on the table and we been sitting for about 5−10mins. Food is decent, prices are pretty reasonable.

Wouldn’t come back. No refill I’m choking. Messy. Food is not good. Better off going to taco Mexico for true Mexican food not here.

Great place for amazing Birria de Chivo that’s tender and not gamey. Get it as ‘plato hondo’ soup plate style because the broth is flavorful and not oily. Good with garishes that comes on side plate and the hand-made tortillas. The Molcajete la Mexicana is great too. You get a little bit of everything tender(beef, chicken, chorizo) and I love the cheese and delicious grilled cactus in it. If you like horchata, try the Café de Olla. It’s basically a black horchata flavored coffee.

The food was much better than expected. If your here fr breakfast, make sure you get some«Café de Olla», my God its really good. Friendly staff and our waitress Lisa was phenomenal. Extremely helpful which gave it the last touch. I would recommend this place to everyone, specifically coffee lovers.

I absolutely love this place. Great service, great food, and very good fair prices. My favorite is the Molcajete a la Mexicana. I love their warm salsa and chips it’s really good and I have even taken some salsa to go on some occassions. The tacos de Asada are very good as well and pretty much everything else is good. Sundays this place is packed so if you plan on coming on a Sunday then be prepared to wait 25 to 45 mins. But since the food is very good I don’t mind waiting because it’s very worth it. I am a Mexican American so I know what Mexican food should taste like and believe me when I say«This is very Authentic Mexican Food.» Hand made corn or flour Tortillas, hand made salsa, etc. Five Stars for me!

Ok i really really tried to be open with my heart and my mind but wow this place needs some help from my mom or something because this salsa they serve with mediocre chips… well let’s just say it’s watered down tomatoes or something. As a mexican I am disrespected, a real slap to my culture. Please add more substance!!! The service was so slow, inattentive and sad. We ordered two salads…10 years ago and it barely arrived.

Come here a lot! The food is delicious one of my favorite places in Southeast LA. The molcajete is my favorite. The negative about this location is the service so don’t expect to always be taken care of after your food arrives. The are often very slow with the food but once it gets to your table you will enjoy it!

Have came a few times, usually for lunch. This is the best molcajete you can get, the only one that compares is Guadalajara grill, I still prefer this one! My server was super sweet, helpful, always checked in on me. Her name was Jocelyn. Loved it and strongly recommend this place. Thank you guys!

Not at all what I expected. They were out of menudo and orange juice. Not good for a Sunday morning. The molcajete meats were lacking the grilled flavor. There was only one green pepper and it was not grilled. There onion in there was not whole nor grilled and again there was only one. The server was attentive. The restaurant was not crowded and the noise level was normal. I would not recommend this place.

Huevos ahogados Abuelita. The first time I had them, I had a Ratatouille experience. It took me straight back to my mothers table when I was twelve years old. Wow! I love the breakfast and during Holy Week they have tortitas de camaron con nopales. Breakfast doesn’t get any better than this.
