Rollie’s Bar and Grill

This place is a hidden gem. Visiting in October there wasn’t much open in Belfast but I imagine during the summer months it would be easy to overlook this place for one of the more flashy tourist destinations. Don’t.
I had a fish sandwich and my boyfriend had the fish and chips. Both meals were excellent. The fish was perfectly fried with a great batter: fish ratio and the sandwich roll was very fresh. The accompanying onion rings were also quite good. The food was very reasonably priced (I think $ 10 for the fish sandwich) and beer is a steal…$ 3.50 for a glass of Blue Moon. The atmosphere was what you hope for at a bar and grill; there were many TVs playing various football games and though it was quite crowded, service was friendly and prompt. Definitely don’t pass this place by!

Not sure what it is about this place! I have given it not one or two– but three tries! Every time I sit at the bar and am completely ignored by the female staff. My boyfriend is served immediately and they make sure he gets a refill if needed. On the other hand, I sit there like a child in time out wondering if I have to wait until my next birthday to be asked if I need anything. The ONLY time I was given proper service is by a male bartender. (so ridiculous) That was on my second visit to be exact.
The MAINE (play on words– for those of you who don’t get it you must be from there!) reason I am giving it one star is the cleanliness. The bar is never wiped down, and when I put my hands on it, they were sticky and nasty. Obviously I went to the ladies room to wash my hands only to find that the bathrooms were disgusting as well, no soap and paper towels were out. (But employees are supposed to wash their hands though right???)
We ordered an hot wing appetizer and I listened to my gut and decided not to eat a lot of it– although it made my stomach turn the whole night anyways! I will never go back there even if they sprayed the place down with bleach and antibacterial soap!
The staff needs to check their attitude!

I’ve been there a few times. Every time the service is slacking, but this trip was enough reason to never go back.
I watched one bartender make a drink and as she poured the vodka, it went all over her other hand as it went into the drink. Kinda all set with drinking a drink that washed off a bartenders hand.
On to the next one. The other bartender made a drink, but noticed there was a bug floating in it. So she grabbed a straw and began to fish it out. She just couldn’t get that little sucker but no need to fear. Not only did one of the other bartenders come over to give support and make jokes, but a bar patron was eager to chip in. They finally got it and sent it out to the lucky person who ordered it.
Here’s the thing, if they are doing stuff like this in front of everyone; what are they doing behind the scenes. I think i’ll pass…

Great place! They have an awesome taco salad… Freindly, social atmosphere… Only downside is you may end up waiting awhile to pay your bill when the place is hopping…

Gotta love this place. After a day of window shopping and sight seeing, this is the perfect place to grab a few drinks and cool off. Or you can even grab some lunch or dinner; a typical pub style menu with many offerings. I fancy the their burger or wings. It’s a relatively big place with lots of seating so finding a place to sit down and relax won’t be difficult. They have a large bar with more seating as well with lots of TV’s on the walls so you can watch sports which I love. The staff is great, high energy and super friendly. My Dad lives in Belfast so when I visit, you can usually find us their during happy hour. Cheers.

Loved this place — my husband got a mediterranean burger (feta, olives, tomatoes), my son got a jalapeño burger (LOTS of jalapenos), and I got a turkey cranberry sandwich (with a layer of stuffing — YUM). Food portions were huge, and the homemade potato chips were a big favorite. Sports TVs everywhere, friendly waitstaff, just a great place.

Local place at its best. Reasonable prices and very good selection of beers and food choices. The onion rings are amazing. I like the daily selection of specials on the board. Very nice staff. Your food always comes with a smile.

When I am in Belfast this is definitely my favorite place to be, great food and perfect staff. It can get busy with the tourists but the staff will always be there to service you. Their Rueben is honestly the best I’ve had even traveling the world. Highly recommend, happy hours and daily meal deals are worth checking out. 1 $ Monday sliders, 1 $ taco Tuesday etc. Enjoy your visit!

A must go to in Belfast if you aren’t familiar with the area. The staff are fantastic, the drinks are great and the food is amazing! Plus who can beat sitting on the back deck overlooking the ocean. Love this place! I highly recommend the boneless buffalo wings and my husband loves their burgers!

This is the best bar in Belfast. We have never eaten here, but we come by on every visit. Very local with a good drink selection.

My dad had the pulled pork. Good bar food. I had chicken fingers. Generous portions. Good beer selection. Seat yourself! Grab a beer and watch some sports.

Riding through town on our Maine vacation. Asked a local for a good bar/​grill to stop at. He immediately said Rollie’s. Excellent drink selection. Had the prime rib sandwich and daily burger special– hot pastrami burger. Both came with house made chips. Excellent meal.

Gritty, greasy, and enormous obesity prone servings. Food is excellent greasy spoon comfort food. Very crowded «sit wherever you find a spot» even at table with strangers. I had buffalo wings and the blue cheese dressing was really made with blue cheese. An authentic Maine coastal counter for real people, not touristy.

The burger was huge, and decently priced. I think the crowd was from the Trek Across Maine, so there was a bit of a wait for food and drinks.

Always a treat to hang out at Rollie’s for dinner! Great food! Great service! Great game coverage! We love to sneak down to Belfast for a special night out without the kids. They do get to go sometimes though. Definitely worth the visit!

Large portion sizes. Friendly waitstaff. Reasonable prizes. We will certainly return.

Great place to get lunch. They have a great special every weekday. Price is great and they have super friendly staff. There’s a full bar and if you live close by they have a mug club. TV on every wall, so you can see what ever big event is going on. They have bumper pool, darts and big buck hunter in the back. I really like coming here definitely recommended.

So far so good! I’ve chowed down a couple times here. Got a tuna melt, was kind of small, but I’m a colossal fatso, so everything in the world is kind of small. My dad got the cheese steak, which looked heavenly, but I’m an enormous chubber, so chees-​anything looks heavenly. They also have free peanuts, all the games on TV, and a fast/​energetic crew!
I shall return!

Don’t bother. Horrible service unless you are a local. Although I don’t live in Belfast, I have been in the service industry for almost 20 years. Bartenders should offer more of a interaction than «do you want a drink?» or «are you eating?»
We would have stayed for another beer but felt so unwelcome that we went somewhere else.

I’ve been to Rollies a number of times, each time better than the last. The atmosphere is great, love all the New England sports jerseys. While the last time I went, just yesterday, the waitress left a lot to be desired. My soda was empty for at least 20 minutes, however you were so busy there wasn’t an empty table in the house. The food however, was tremendous!!! I got the signature prime rib sandwich, while my boyfriend got the meatsa– both were fantastic. Even with the poor service, I’d still give you a 5, every time. Great place!!!
