History
Established in 1950.
In the late 1940’s to early 1950’s, Dad (Nathan Stein) worked for his brother
Harry Stein. Uncle Harry owned a grocery store (Ideal Food Market) located near the Fountain Square area. Dad’s morning chore included walking the beef rails at the local Indy beef slaughtering plants. He would hand pick the highest quality beef for his brothers store. Business picked up and other markets around Indy would pay dad a fee to hand pick beef for their stores too. Dad purchased a sausage company on Chadwick Street near West & McCarty street in 1950. He opened «Ideal Meat Company».
Dad began processing Beef, Pork, Lamb, and Veal for groceries, restaurants, and other food manufacturers.
He created the first star shaped hamburger patty.
Also, created the famous «Logna Sausage» which he sold to several pizza shops in Indiana.
This became a family business that the entire hard working family was involved in.
