As far as restaurants off the turnpike go, this is a good one! Six of us stopped here on Saturday night around 7:30PM. We were seated right away and our waitress quickly took our drink orders. After we ordered our entrees we were able to enjoy the soup, salad and dessert bar. I chose to only order the salad bar because I wasn’t that hungry. I am glad I did because this salad bar would satisfy even the heartiest appetite! The bar included hot rolls with butter, chips with salsa, mac and cheese, several soups, a variety of salads and a variety of desserts. What a deal at $ 8.99! Those in my group who did order entrees were happy with their orders. I am glad we stopped here and I recommend it for other travelers!

Our first time here, and it was great! We had a very kind and attentive waitress. The price for a meal was spot on and included the salad/soup and dessert bar– can’t beat it! I had the stuffed chicken and mashies both were flavorful and tasty, my husband had steak with baked potato both very good. We will be back

This restaurant used to make customers order as soon as they entered the doorway, but this time we were seated at a table and given a menu just like at other restaurants. We ordered our usual filet mignons with salad bar for only $ 19.99 each. The kitchen plated my husband’s rare steak with my broccoli, and the waitress gave it to me when I ordered a medium steak. I cringed at the sight of the red center, and we switched steaks. The taste of the food was good, especially for the low price. The table and bathroom were clean. I have eaten at Hoss’s many times over the years. This cheap steakhouse is seriously better than fancy steakhouses.

The salad and dessert bar were highlights and we had an attentive waitress. Unfortunately the fishermen’s platter we ordered was horrendous. The fish that came with it looked like a long plank and it was dry and hard.

Stopped in for a late dinner while driving to Pittsburgh. Easy on/off from the PA turnpike. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. The staff, friendly. The service very good, very good… EXCLLENT. Our meal arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and was hot. These chain restaurants have this stuff down to a science but what really impressed me and set this place apart was the service. We arrived about 30 minutes before closing, a dangerous time to want to sit down and eat because the staff has probably worked all day, or at least 4 to 5 hours and just wants to get cleaned up and go home. NOT this crews. The even sat down a family about 5 minutes before closing! While the could have easily started cleaning off the salad bar, they went about their business as if it were the middle of the afternoon, not closing time. This crew was pleasant and courteous throughout — and genuinely so, not that fake smile and patronizing attitude you sometime get. Kudos to the manager. He or She«gets it» on customer service and so do his staff.

Food OK. Waitress terrible. We always end up meeting our daughter and her boyfriend there for lunch(½ way for both of us to meet, get together, and talk). Unfortunately, we ended up with waitress«Tracey L.». Can she crack a smile ?? She acted as though we were bothering her. I got the salad bar, where my daughters’ boyfriend got a sandwich(no salad bar). I got a dessert which I didn’t like and gave it to him(it was a little tiny ½ «x ½» square of cake). Well, she saw the plate in front of him, and she went off on him stating«Don’t ever let me see you do this again. I can get in trouble if anyone saw you with that.» I even told her that I was the one that didn’t like the dessert and gave it to him, and she ignored me. She kept saying it over and over and embarrassing the hell out of him and pointing her finger at him. My husband even told her to put the $ 3.99 additional salad bar charge on the bill, and she said no. She was extremely rude. I thought it was very inappropriate how she handled that and putting him on the spot like that. It was a TINY piece of cake. Do you realize how much food is thrown away daily from those places? Not only did we offer to pay the additional money for the tiny piece of cake, but I explained it was my fault, I didn’t like it. She ignored all of that. Very disappointing. We will NOT be meeting at Hoss’ anymore. Going down the street to Denny’s.

Straight up, this is the best buffet place around! Hoss’s Steak & Sea House has lots of options for steak and seafood. I personally like the scallops, and steak here. The salad bar is a great surprise also. I would definitely give it a try if you are in the area.

I have been going to Hoss’s in Bedford since they opened in the 1980’s. I always look forward to the garlic bread. I just ate here this past Thursday and, as usual, it was very nice. The waitress was attentive and on point. She deserved her gratuity. The chicken noodle soup was made with large, fat noodles and was very tasty. I ordered the Maryland crab cake with seasonal vegetables(which was sauteed zucchini). The crab cake appears to be made when it is ordered. The zucchini was not complocated. It was sauteed with salt and pepper and had an al dente texture. Very tasty and definitely not overcooked. Entrée, salad bar, drink and all was only $ 18. I recently visited a Bedford burger establishment and paid $ 24 for a fraction of the food. Btw, try the burgers at Hoss’s. They are the best in town. I have been to this Hoss’s literally dozens of times over the years and have never had any complaints with the food, service, wait time, etc. When in the Bedford area, Hoss’s is one of the best choices. It is preferred by many locals and the chances are you will not leave disappointed.

It was fine. We were traveling from out of state and needed a place to eat between destinations. This restaurant is a lot like a Ponderosa. You have to order right when you get in, before you’re seated. All we wanted to do was rest a minute but felt rushed. Staff was very nice. Salad/soup/bread/dessert bar was just satisfactory. Rolls were very good. I got the crabcake dinner. Overall it was good but too salty. Other diners in our party said their food was, surprisingly good. Portions were not overly large. Be careful of add on items adding on to your price. Sometimes you don’t catch that there is an extra charge for most things.

Buyer beware here. If you’re looking for a real steakhouse, this isn’t it. This place is more of a Ponderosa or a Golden Corral. If that is your sort of thing, you may like this place. It’s not my thing, so we walked out.

The local atmosphere was s o welcoming and refreshing after a long day on the road, and really added to the charm of this joint. Although the food wasn’t as good as I had hoped, the buffet was included in my meal and filled up any void from my main course.

Hoss’s was very good quality for this genre of restaurants. It was very clean, and the service was very good. The server was also very helpful. We went on a Tuesday, so the items on the kids menu were 2 dollars off. Normally, the kids items are 4 – 6 dollars, so that made the kids meals pretty cheap. The kids liked their hamburgers. The buffalo chicken salad was ok, but you could get soup and salad for 99 cents. The soup was very good. There were many different kinds of soup. The salad bar was clean and there was a good variety of toppings and dressings. The soft serve ice cream was not good. Most of the toppings were not the name brand.

Interesting concept. You order at the door from a menu on the wall, like fast food. But then you are seated, they bring the food to you, and it acts like a normal restaurant. Salad/soup bar is genuinely impressive. The steak was pretty mediocre. Standard low-end chain steak. But the service was super friendly and the overall experience was pleasant.

What a nice surprise! The food is good and the service is great. I went with some hungry folks and we were all satisfied with our meals. It’s a much better choice than the Bedford Diner and Denny’s next door. I don’t eat steak and mine was cooked well but not dry and marinated well. The salad bar is excellent. I made a real salad with spinach and all kinda of vegetable choices. Then there are like 6 soups to choose from and a dessert bar. I had no room for the dessert bar. The waitress Cathy was friendly, fast and efficient. We will definitely be back again. :)

I tell you what, it all started at the front with an extremely helpful manager. The guy was clear and concise when we weren’t sure of the way to order and he was very friendly as well. Our food was out so quick I couldn’t believe it! I had a steak sandwich that was pretty good. But the salad bar totally rocked! The only real issue we had was that the mozzarella sticks seemed undercooked. The manager asked my lady how our experience was and she told him things were good and even the mozzarella sticks had good flavor. When she told him about the sticks, he came to our table a little later and announced he took them off the check! How nice?! He said he didn’t want us to have a bad experience he said. Totally didn’t have to do that and we told him! All of the staff were friendly and the food was good. Highly recommended!

I visited Hoss’s with my Daddy and step-mom when I came to visit in December 2012. I live on my own in California and had to make an emergency trip home. This is one of the restaurants I wanted to visit. Even after having not eaten here for 10 years, I still knew what to expect and still knew that I would love it. Unfortunately the closest thing we have to a Hoss’s out in California is a Sizzler and I’m not a big fan. The service here was impeccable and it brought back many wonderful memories. The food was delicious(I had some sort of fish, but don’t remember what), and the salad bar is always a favorite. I didn’t get to come back during my visit in July of this year, but hopefully we’ll make it there next time!

I stopped here on my 400 mile drive to NJ as I wanted something better than PA Turnpike exit fare. I have to say I was quite impressed. I had grilled salmon topped with crab stuffing and broccoli as my side, which was delicious and healthy. I took full advantage of the all you can eat salad bar by devouring a cup of chicken noodle soup, two plates of salad, and dessert that also included healthy options. All of the food was very satisfying. I also liked the atmosphere which was very family oriented and low key. To me it was quite refreshing from the pretentiousness of upper scale venues as well as even the annoyance in other well known chains in city settings. My server, Kristine, was very friendly and accommodating. So while this place is by no means extravagant as it does not try to be, it easily earns 5 stars for me given the tasty food I had and overall one of the more pleasant dining experiences I have had.

Decent food at a decent price. That’s pretty much it. When you’re on the road for a long period of time and you don’t want to do fast food, this is a great option.

An interesting place. It’s not even on the Longhorn level, or Ryans, but if you weren’t expecting anything fancy, it’s fine. In its context, I think it deserves four stars, which makes me the only reviewer to date giving it more than three. Really, it’s a pretty good place for a completely unpretentious dinner. They take your order at the front door like a Ryans, there’s no liquor license(quelle tragédie! But my liver was happy.), and much of the food is served via a rather messy«salad bar». Unlike a Ryans, you pay at the table like a regular restaurant. Appearance wise, it’s pretty utilitarian, with lots of signage here and there promoting various specials etc. A bit noisy due to the conjunction of unforgiving acoustics, clanking of dishes and some argumentative kids. Free wireless! I had an eight ounce filet mignon, which was perfectly prepared and betrayed no evidence of chemical tenderizing. One side was included, so I ordered a sweet potato and an extra side of steamed broccoli. Being a pig, I also added grilled shrimp for a few bucks more. What the heck. The person taking the order warned me apologetically the broccoli would be «crunchy», but it turned out to be correctly steamed al dente, and not boiled to mush as is commonly the case at restaurants. The sweet potato was wonderful but very petite. I wonder where they get such small sweet potatoes. I didn’t have anything from the salad bar. There was a person who kept coming by to bring me drinks and who surprised me very much by asking if I’d like coffee to go with my dessert. I declined, not having a dessert and fearing evening doses of caffeine, but that was a nice touch. Check ran to $ 26 for steak, shrimp, soda, and one extra side. With tip $ 32.
