Bedford Free Public Library

Friendly staff and well stocked library… almost always have what I’m looking for and if they don’t — they find it. :)

When I was on budgetary confinement last year, I became a library connoisseur. Needham, Newton (massive DVD collection), Lexington (a few bad apple librarians), Belmont, Winchester, Lincoln, Weston (very plush), Waltham, and Bedford— I went to them all.
The Bedford public library became my go-​to library. The librarians there are kind (not just nice), friendly, and helpful. They really make an effort to accommodate patron requests and inquiries. The Lexington librarians should take an HR course from their Bedford counterparts.
The book selection was a good mix of old and new: modern bestsellers, non-​fiction, but old classics, too. The movie selection (they mix DVD and videos – not my favorite idea) is respectable for Friday evening perusal, and their magazine selection (Architecture Digest and more) is top notch.
The only thing that could make this library better is if I lived next door!

One of my favorite libraries to visit. I live out of town, but work in town and the librarians were great about helping get my card into their system. A good selection of books, great interlibrary loan system, and an easy to navigate online system.

This is a fantastic library located in the heart of Bedford adjacent to the high school and the police department. The layout and main entrance of the building are toward the back, which isn’t quite obvious from how the library is organized (a secondary entrance with a parking lot faces the road, but the parking lot is limited to high school vehicles only during school hours). It’s a very bright building, high ceilings, very organized with a fantastic selection of books.
My favorite part about this library is how cheerful it feels. It’s a newer library than most, so there isn’t much historical charm about this building, but the modern open floor plan allows for more light and less clutter.
