Xtend Barre Beaverton

I bought the Groupon for a month of unlimited class because I was visitng my parents during my extended holiday break from school. I have taken several different «types» of barre class so I did have experience… Which isn’t needed.
I took classes from Julie and Zay… Both different, but both great! The Barre Stick class is a fun variation of the traditional barre class, using a pilates bar on a bungee. Really fun.
I would recommend Extend Barre to anyone looking for a way to switch up your workout regimen. I really enjoyed it, and will be back when I am in town.

I have been going to Xtend Barre for nearly 2 months now. I have no dance background whatsoever, and during my first class, the warm-​up was slightly tough to follow at times, but it got better quickly. There are many other of non-​dancer types who attend, so no need to be worried what you look like while doing the moves. It’s a much faster paced class than other barre studios, so you feel like you’re getting cardio along with the muscle toning moves.
The studio is beautiful — very clean! Only drawback is that they do not have a locker room for changing, just a 1 person restroom, but not much you can do to change that.
All of the instructors are very encouraging and positive, no matter what kind of background you come from. They will help you with form and technique as little or as much as you want.

I would recommend the Xtend Barre for all women. It’s a fusion of ballet, yoga, Pilates and cardio! It really works for my body. My arms, legs and back got toned really fast. All instructors are excellent! But one of my favorite class is from Valerie. She has a fun and effective class. I’ve done Barre3 for more than 1 year but Xtend Barre is more effective.

I have done Barre3 and Bar Method, and find the Xtend Barre classes to be tougher than the other bar-​type classes, with superior results if one is looking for increased strength, flexibility and change in body shape. Classes are faster paced, which means that teachers do not have the amount of time, say, in a Bar Method class, to make hands-​on corrections, but these teachers are all masterful at explaining in class exactly what it is one should be doing, how and why. The music, while I don’t always love the selections, thankfully is never played so loud as to not hear the teacher or to have one’s hearing damaged. Teachers are always available after class for questions or help. For brand new students who have never done ballet, it may take a few classes to feel connected and coordinated while learning the terms, but this is temporary and you will definitely master these terms within a week or so. Outrageously excellent teachers at this particular studio! If you are tough and willing to invest in yourself and your health, give it a try.

Terrible service. Go somewhere else. After taking 3 weeks with people consistently showing up 10 – 15 minutes late to class and nothin being said and not issue I was exactly 2 minutes late on daylight savings time after driving 30 minutes to get to class to find they locked the doors. They saw me standing outside looked at me and did nothing. Take your business somewhere else, this is extremely expensive and the service should match the price.

Great teaching, great music and great facility. What a difference being taught by a dancer. As a non-​dancer, I really appreciated the teacher’s technique as something I hope to attain. The hour flew by and my husband and kids agreed, I should go back because I was much nicer afterwards!

Best one hour work out that tones, lifts, and lengthens your muscles! I have been going here for over a year and love everything except the location it is a bit far to travel to work out but otherwise awesome!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Just found out about it a week ago from a friend and the first class was free so I figured there was nothing to lose. I was in love by the time I walked through the door. The staff and the instructors are so nice and kind and its ok if you have never taken a dance class in your life. Also I love working out and I have never been more sore in my life, but in a great way! I feel so strong and my energy is great! I am a customer for life.

Purchased a groupon for 3-​months of unlimited classes and have been going regularly for about 6 weeks. The instructors are great (my favorite is Valerie) and the fellow barrers are also very nice. The class is cardio based so don’t come in expecting a slow stretch workout, you WILL leave sweaty!
The class is divided into sets, there’s the warmup, arm workout, barre (legs and butt), abs and final cool down. What I like most is that I’m not surrounded by professional dancers, but everyday women who, like me, aren’t trained dancers.
My only complaints are (1) the instructors like to use proper ballet terms but they don’t explain what those are so the first few classes can be nerve racking as you try to figure out wth «5^th position arms» means. I really wish they’d list the terms on their website or have a training session for new members. (2) I really wish they offered more classes, esp. during the day but I get that there may not be a high demand for those times.

I’ve been going to Xtend Barre for almost a year now and I LOVE it! It’s so much fun. The hour long classes fly by and it gives you a total body workout including cardio and strength, while allowing you to pretend you’re a ballerina. All of the instructors are so sweet and want everyone to feel welcomed and comfortable. There are no egos here. They offer modifications, while encouraging you to push yourself and are running around the room doing the moves and making sure everyone has good form. They are amazing! Xtend Barre works muscles you don’t even know you have. It burns so good!

Seriously LOVE Xtend barre. Im 3 weeks in and see a huge difference in my body and energy level. The classes never get boring and always challenge me. I also love how the instructors make hands on corrections to make me get the best out of every move.

Love love love xtend barre! Love the fast pace and attention to technique. It is a hard workout but fun! Instructors are really good and they are sweating right there with you. Xtend barre Beaverton also gives back to the community which means a lot to me, I’m really happy to have them in the neighborhood.

Hello there, fellow Unilocalers! I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to weigh in on Xtend Barre, as I have been going to Xtend Barre Beaverton for about a year. In a nutshell (if you want to skip over my extended commentary): I love taking class here. I have a ballet background, so I enjoy the fusion of ballet, pilates, and yoga that barre workouts provide. I have taken classes at other Barre Studios, but out of all of them, I enjoy Xtend the most. I feel as though my workouts at Xtend are more intense and much more ballet-​based than some of the other studios (again, this depends on the instructor, as different instructors at Xtend will focus more or less on different disciplines – some are more pilates based, while others might throw more ballet in there, and still others have a few more yoga moves). Most importantly, I think the environment at Xtend is one of the friendliest I have encountered at any studio anywhere. I have been to places locally where people do not even look up at you to say hello or give you the cold shoulder when you try and make conversation with them in class. Um, no thanks. I don’t need that kind of snobbery when I am taking time out of my busy day to workout. I would just as soon as have those snobby people stay away and keep Xtend a lovely little secret for those of us who appreciate taking class with kind, genuine people.
At Xtend, there are many people in class, all at different levels (and all different sizes!), but you do not need to be a ballerina or a size 0 to workout here. The instructors are all in amazing shape, and yes, they all have different body types, too, just like their students! In reference to DL’s review, I am so tired of people who think that everyone who dances or is «fit» has to look a certain way. We all are built differently and yet we women are so hard on ourselves (and on each other). Are you strong? Are you healthy? This is what matters. I have taken from every instructor at Xtend except for the very newest one, and they all are very good about demonstrating the steps, so I am not sure what the one reviewer is talking about. It is important to note that sometimes instructors teach three classes in a row, so although many of them demonstrate the steps, they do not do the full classes, because 3 hours of working out in a row is a lot for anyone (unless you are Gwyneth Paltrow, of course). :)
The teachers are sensitive that everyone comes to class from different backgrounds, and they offer modifications for students who might be beginners as well throwing in «optional challenges» for the regulars. I have found everyone in the studio, without exception, to be welcoming and wonderful, which is one of the reasons I enjoy coming here. If the classes lost this friendly environment, I would not enjoy coming to the studio. I think the staff do a great job of encouraging everyone to find their own personal «challenge zone,» so you can push yourself as much as you want. Being in a class with other people I see regularly also motivates me to show up regularly, as it is nice to workout in a group setting with women who are making healthy changes in their lives. I never considered myself super-​athletic (going to the gym always bored me to tears), but I always look forward to my Xtend Barre workouts. I go almost every day now, and I definitely notice the benefits in how I feel and yes, my body is more lean, too, even though that was not really my goal in setting out to be healthier last year. They definitely mix the music up at the studio (the different instructors pick their own): I have been to classes where they do all Latin music, all Michael Jackson sets, all 80s sets, techno (of course), and the usual top 40 stuff. The most important thing for me, as a dancer, is for the music to have a beat. So even if the music they play at Xtend isn’t what I would listen to at home personally, I appreciate the beat in the music because it gives me the energy to get through some of the more difficult cardio work.
In closing, I would highly recommend Xtend Barre to any woman who loves pilates, yoga, and/​or ballet who is looking to increase her flexibility, strength, and overall fitness. I also recommend the Xtend Barre Beaverton studio for its friendliness and for making working out fun (at significant savings over other barre studios in town).

I found Xtend Barre Beaverton through a Groupon promotion. If it hadn’t been for Groupon, and for a friend willing to give it a try with me, I likely would never have set foot in a studio. Truth be told, I was skeptical of barre classes. As a runner that often runs more than 40 miles per week, I scoffed at the idea that a ballet dance inspired class could really give me a cardio workout.
The website clearly asks you to bring water and a sweat towel (and grippy socks that you can buy there). I blatantly ignored their advice and didn’t bring a sweat towel, because I figured I was in such good shape I wouldn’t need one. Ha! Twenty minutes into the class, and I was doing my best to coyly wipe sweat from my brow. These classes are no joke, set at a fast pace they incorporate weights, resistance moves, and dance.
The instructors are great about accommodating injuries, and always offer modifications if you are new or unable to do the exercises (I have a cyst on my wrist and struggle to do the tricep push-​ups without a modification).
Worry not! I have about as much grace and coordination as a dead fish, and while I can’t say that has improved since going, I never feel silly or stupid. The class isn’t stuffy or overly-​serious, and I the instructors are all very friendly and helpful.
While I may not be anymore graceful, I HAVE lost about 4 pounds since starting about 5 weeks ago (and I wasn’t really trying to lose weight). I am also noticing that my flexibility is improving, and I have increased muscle tone in my arms. Xtend Barre may not make me a ballerina, but they certainly are providing me with a complete workout.

I love barre workouts because they are technique oriented, deep, fun and effective. I have taken classes at Barre3 and The Bar Method (Barre3 being the best)…So when I saw the groupon for Xtend Barre I jumped on it. Not only is the studio far out in the suburbs, it’s class schedule isn’t conducive to anyone who doesn’t work 9 – 5. They are either really early or in the evening right during rush hour. These two issues were things I realized after buying the groupon but before even going.
So when I finally found a time to make it out there to try it out I was disappointed that it was no where near the caliper of barre workouts I’m used to. The music that was playing before the class started was horrible and I hoped it wouldn’t continue once the class started… it did. It was all techno covers of top 40 songs. The same beat and super loud through the whole thing. The instructor was pleasant but obviously not instructed to watch the clients for improper posture or technique. The manic music set the pace that was too fast and hectic. She used ballet terms that without explanation to new students, left us guessing as to what the next move was. Also based on the instructor’s body type, she was not an example of what Xtend Barre can do. She was soft and overweight probably because she rarely did any of the moves with the class. When instructors demonstrate moves it really helps. In Barre3 they come to the bar right next to you and demonstrate and make sure every client has the correct posture because this maximizes the benefits and prevents injury.
If don’t want to go to a class that the music makes you thing «This is my nightmare!» and you’re rushed through a workout, avoid Xtend Barre. Barre3 is worth the extra money.

I recently got a groupon to xtend barre in beaverton for a month of unlimited classes. I had never taken a barre class before but I had heard great things about it from friends.
I headed over to the studio for my first class not really knowing what to expect, the class I went to was on a Friday night (not a good idea since I would end up being incredibly sore for the ENTIRE weekend!!!). The studio is very bright and friendly. I think its pretty new so everything looks pristene. Parking has never been an issue for me here.
If you are considering trying barre and you do not regularly work out… ITS HARD!!! Every teacher at this studio has a different background… some are previous dancers and other have a pilaties background. So they push you in different ways. All of them are so great and supportive. Its a really good environment to be in. From what I know, the pricing of this studio is on par with all the other studios Ive looked into.
Barre is such an amazing workout, its really been the only thing Ive been able to stick with on a regular basis. Im addicted!
Oh a tip for new people… they sell non slip socks at the studio for $ 12 but you can find non slip socks online (mostly advanced age care websites) for less then $ 5.

I have only been to one class, but I decided to try something new since living social offered a great deal for one month of unlimited classes. It seemed like they had a lot of discounts for members that would like to continue membership as well. I don’t think I would be able to afford the classes without the living social.
The staff here are all really friendly, and being relatively new to the area, I feel like this would be a great place to meet other ladies, and hopefully I can make some new friends.
The studio provides all the equipment you need, the only thing you might need to purchase are the xtend barre nonslip socks which everyone in the class seemed to have. The studio itself is relatively small, but you can tell its new, all the equipment is nice and nothing is grimy or anything like they (as some facilities tend to start feeling gross after years and years of use). The workout itself is really fast paced, and I will update this review after a few classes, once I get the flow of things. Based on my experience so far I would definitely recommend this studio.
