Novella’s Beauty Supply & Salon

I have been a client at Novella’s since it opened and find the shop to be a relaxing and friendly place to go. I followed my stylist, Lesa Rivas, there. I have been going to Lesa for 20 yrs! I was so happy to find someone who can do all hair types on the westside. She has taken me through so many hair incarnations. From short to long and from brown to grey. She is always ready to get me in a chair on time or within 10 minutes of my appointment. She is creative, works efficiently and also does my two daughters hair. She has earned my business by being professional, friendly and a great listener. From the first time I met her, walking into JCPenny’s looking for a stylist who could do my hair type, I was pleased to find a knowledgeable, energetic young woman with a sweet demeanor. I highly recommend her to my friends & family!

Ok, so I’m guilty of reading reviews on Unilocal,and never writing one. I’ve found so many amazing places on Unilocal,and I must say, Lisa Rivas is the best hairstylist I’ve found to date. Lisa is great! She knows how to make my long, wavy hair bounce to life and I was in such a great mood when I left the salon. Not only does she give amazing haircuts, but she is also so easy going and fun to talk to :) She provides great service, great conversation and, most importantly, great hair styling. I’ll go to her with a bunch of vague adjectives on what I want my hair to look like, and didn’t leave disappointed. Im from San Francisco and heard about her in the city so when I was in Oregon I in dyer need of a haircut I remembered what all my friends said about Lisa now that I have first hand experience I have to agree and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to get a great hair cut.

I really wanted to like this salon. Living in outer sw Portland I was eager to support a local business that offers a desperately needed service to an underserved community in Beaverton. While I can’t comment on there prowess with a flat iron I can say that the complete lack of customer service I received as a potential new customer was disgusting. I called the provided cell phone number and left a message at 1p the day before I wanted to come in, no response. I called the salon and the cell number 3 more times before I got an answer. The stylist was beyond rude and hung up on me when I took 30 seconds to make sure the appt time suggested would work for me. How do I know she hung up on me? When I called back and stated we had gotten disconnected she responded, «I’m working I have stuff to do» Never asked for my name or anything. I will not willing be treated like that by someone whom I am going to pay to perform a service.

I’ve been coming to Novellas for probably 5 years, and Lesa has actually been my stylist for about 15 years. I have not found anyone else who can do what she does as well! I’ve lived in San Francisco the past 6 years and still haven’t found anyone that does a good relaxer. I’m mixed and my hair is very curly, so it’s hard to find the right stylist. With Lesa, I always leave with awesome looking hair! She’s does great cuts, relaxers and flat ironing/​styling (and probably more that I don’t know about). If I could, I would fly up whenever I need my hair done!

I am racially mixed and have naturally kinky curly hair that is also very thick… I have ALOT of hair! Miss Zonyale cut and styled my hair amazingly! I have NEVER been so pleased! I’ve gotten compliments from everyone… even from my son’s teacher! I’ve tried to get my hair done in past years (I’m over 40) and am always disappointed… not this time! I would recommend this salon for anyone who has ethnic hair… especially since it’s the only of it’s kind on the west side (took some research to find) I also saw two other women getting their hair done by another stylist who did a wonderful job as well! AWESOME! I can’t say enough good things… if you want your hair done right call them!

My boyfriend went here and got braids done. They are awesome and he says he can barely feel them but they look tight. Everyone was really friendly.
