Nit Picky

If you have lice, or suspect that you have lice, this is the company to call! I called Saturday afternoon worried that I would not be able to get a same day appointment– but I did. They were able to come even at 6:30pm which I grately appreciated. Her name is Destiny ad she checked all 4 of us and unfortunately 2 of us did have lice. She spent a lot of time treating each of us and did a very thorough job. The next day I was still nervous about sending my kid back to school unless she was 100% clear– so called and asked if they could come back and do another check on Monday, which they did. We were happy to know that we are officially free and clear of them!!! I highly recommend this group and Destiny is definitely a Pro!!! Thumbs Up!!!

This is a wonderful service. Honest and trustworthy. My daughter was complaining about an itchy scalp. She had lice 7 years ago and it was a nightmare. Missed school, constant combing, crying and stress. I vowed if it ever happened again I would use a service.
When she started scratching this time I took a look and yep lice. Her hair has little white eggs just like the last time. Then my husband and I started itching. I was pretty panicked.
I called nit picky and they came over that night. Our technician Destiny sat my daughter down and started combing through he hair and didn’t find lice. It was just an itchy scalp because of the change in season and hair debris. Destiny didn’t have to tell me that. She could have picked at the debris and charged me full price. She even could have «found» lice in my hair and my husbands.
I was very thankful not to have lice in the house but even more thankful to find an honest company who didn’t take advantage of a stressful situation.

When your kid has lice, you have two choices: find a way to get rid of them or shave your entire family’s hair and burn your house down. Because our family had been through this before, I still trusted I could go with the first choice. The first time this happened to us, we used Lice Knowing You, which is a fantastic place, and, I agree with the other reviewers, more thorough. However, Lice Knowing You guarantees their service or money back, but only if you get everyone in the household (or households in the case of a divorce) checked, and in my situation, that was always more of a pain than otherwise. Also, LKY doesn’t come to your house.
One of my kids is autistic, which means everything about lice is almost as stressful for him as it is for me (see: option of burning the house down). So, Nit Picky was exactly what we needed. Being at home was so helpful while she checked his hair because the combing was freaky for him in terms of his sensory sensitivities.
We were quite pleased with our experience. Meanwhile, in order to keep the lice away after Nit Picky (as opposed to LKY), you just have to comb their hair with the special comb every single day because even one nit will lead to them coming back.

The panic, stress, just want to scream, cry or both! That’s how I felt when we found a crawler in my daughter’s hair! Instantly you feel the need to rid them and clean your entire house! I had gone to Lice Knowing You two years ago and they were great. But this time when I called they didn’t get back to me. After searching online I found Nit Picky and loved the fact that they came to my house the same day! While my daughter’s hair was being combed through I was doing laundry and vacuuming! Nice! They showed me what to look for and how to comb the hair.
About two weeks later school started and you guessed it! The crawlers were back. Now I’m about to lose my mind! I called Sherri that night and the next day they were out again since I was still under my 30 day guarantee. I did comb her hair daily. When I thought I found a nit a week later, you guessed it, she came out again! What I found was not a nit but Shari was extremely nice and professional and my daughter is «crawler» free!
The best part is I was able to be reimbursed on my health care spending and now I’m submitting to my health insurance as the service is covered.

Well, I hate to write a vindictive review, so here are the positives: she is available on Sundays (which Lice Knowing You is not) and she comes to your house. She was very pleasant and it was comfortable having her in our home. My daughter’s hair is very long and very thick and I didn’t feel capable of doing a thorough job when I was going to be heading out of town a couple of days later. Nit Picky also didn’t do a thorough job. She spent about ½ hour combing my daughter’s hair and didn’t do it with the care and attention that Lice Knowing You does. I took her to Lice Knowing You two days later for a check and indeed nits were found. They spent 2 hours on my daughter’s hair and the cost was pretty comparable (they found about 20 nits). I know Nit Picky would have come back for free if I had called to say there were still nits, but as I said I was leaving town and just wanted the job to be done. I recommend Lice Knowing You.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Can you tell I had a terrible experience?! We found out that my daughter had lice at school and I freaked out, called around and this more than eager lady, Sherry Karrigan called me back immediately and was ready to show up in an instant — I should have figured something was too good to be true! She showed up looking very unprofessional with a small bag of her ‘treatment solutions’ which were in old spray bottles and a few combs — when I asked her what product she used she said it was an all natural but wouldn’t give me details. Because of all my own fears I was grilling her on how to rid my house and child of the nasty buggers — she had a few abrupt answers but seemed very uneducated on the subject. She coerced me into paying her to have everyone in the home tested by saying it was the only way to ‘guarantee’ her work — per her website. After trying to charge me $ 25/​person to check their hair she said that I had the nasty bugs too and that I would need a treatment — at $ 95/​hour. She tried showing us the bugs by combing through the hair and showing us in a glass the floating ‘eggs’ — which I’ve come to find out was complete BS. She then put on a foam treatment of ELF Brands Lice Treatment Mousse, she then quickly combed out each of our hair and said she was done — no, we didn’t need to wash it out or do anything else. Well as you can imagine this didn’t do squat! After doing my own research I found that the product she used is $ 9 junk, it was supposed to be left on 30 minutes to kill the eggs and nits and then combed out.
My daughter has bugs STILL crawling in her hair, Sherry won’t return phone calls or email, she never even sent me the receipt or follow up email that was supposed to show her ‘guarantee’ or the follow up instructions — of which she said I needed to use a nit comb and comb it out every SINGLE day for the first week, every other day the next week and every third day the third week — what a joke, I could eradicate the lice on my own with that schedule! She took my $ 255, cashed the check within 10 minutes and hasn’t been heard from since.
Don’t make the mistake I did and let this snake oil saleswomen in your house!
