Falk Ace Hardware

If you’re thinking about this place for lamp repair. No. Just no. Run and don’t look back. On top of just general incompetence the buck will just get passed and passed. According to their own staff (Bernie, to be exact) they’re just disorganized and understaffed. I did much of the leg work just to find the right parts, something you expect the staff to do, since you’re paying them for the repair. Even with that, after over a full month the repair never happened. Please, save yourself some serious aggro and go somewhere that knows what they’re doing.
UPDATE 1÷25÷16: Brought this repair over to Pacific Lamp Wholesale. Fast Repair. Great service. No hassle!

I have gotten good service here in the past, nothing worth writing a review about, but have always had a good experience. On Thursday however, I stopped in to grab a little screwdriver to repair something for work. The younger lady at the counter seemed like she really didn’t want to be there. She was working on something at the counter next to the open register, when I walked up to be cashed out she let out a little huff and gave me the death stare. Sorry for bothering you girlfriend, guess I’ll drive to Home Depot the next time.

Falks is no longer an Ace Hardware store; they’re now affiliated with True Value. That by itself might be OK, but on a recent visit, I was disappointed. Most of my reviews of Falks since the early 90s would be five stars for selection and service. Now they’ve stopped carrying some products, and the display cases with incredible varieties of things like screws and bolts seem to be gone, apparently replaced by things like
a palette of dogfood. I couldn’t get a product that Falks carried for years. I’ll give Falks another shot, because they’re in transition, but right now I’m worried about losing this resource. I want to buy local – and even went to Ace knowing that prices might be a little higher than the Home Depot a mile away – but there have to be products to buy.

Falk is a nice locally owned neighborhood hardware store. I had a lamp that needed fixed and I found this place on Unilocal.They did a great job fixing my favorite lamp and the price was surprisingly low. It was funny they said it would take a week and two days later I got the call it was done.
This place feels like what hardware stores used to be before the big boxes came, lots of advice and real customer service.

It is so nice to be helped by clerks who are so knowledgeable. Their expertise is worth the trip.

Love this store. It’s always my first stop when we need something for the house. Everyone there is knowledgable and helpful.

Great selection for what you need for those projects around the house. THe staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. You may pay a little more than the big box store, but you’ll get better service and be supporting a local buisness.

Actually I wanted to write an update to my previous review and I went back to buy some screws and again as always i am amazed at the courtesy of the staff and how helpful and friendly they are and their awesome customer service skills that I want to give it 5 stars!

I’m new to Oregon so I’m trying to find a place to sharpen my knives. Saw the good reviews of Falk Ace Hardware and decided to give it a try. What a mistake.
The knives were duller when I got home than when I brought them in. I can’t believe I paid $ 25 for nothing. I then brought them to an actual knife sharpening store and they said that I’ll probably want to buy new knives soon because mine were so mishandled last time.
Don’t get your knives sharpened here unless you want an excuse to buy new knives.

for smaller neighborhood hardware stores… this one is great!!! It does not have the huge selections of say like Home Depot… but that is because well… IT IS SMALLER!!! I go here first and pick up what I need for what ever various art project I have started… then if needed I go pick up the last one or two things somewhere else. The staff here have ALWAYS been helpful to me and smile, give you options and look like they love their jobs…
they also repair lamps. I have an old lamp that I moved to I joke you not… 4 different places to live over a decade… it had not worked in a decade… It died a premature horrible death and it made me sad… but it was my fav lamp, I was not ready to part with it. I brought it in and they worked their special magic/​voodoo and presto my beloved lamp has been resurrected. I was now happy!!!
I have now a tiny lamp that has stopped working and will in the next month or so bring it in as well.
They fixed the first lamp way more quickly than I was originally told and that was just wonderful!
These people I can not say enough about. They are small yes, they do not have the huge selection of wares that some of the other stores have, but they will point you to what they do have, or what might do instead… they actually help you with a project instead of directing you to a section and letting you figure it out or having to ask for help… again.

This store reminds me of the neighborhood hardware store as a child. The people are friendly and helpful. Had exactly what I needed. Also, I noticed when I was in there that they had all kinds of radio flyer stuff in there. I mean like the old fashioned trike, wagon etc. It was so charming. It is tucked away in the corner of of a small strip of stores.

Got my knives and lawn mower blade sharpened! Very pleased with the results. I will absolutely return. Dropped off about 13 blades and got them all back the same day. Great cute store, near Lin’s China Jade, I wouldn’t have found it without this site, its in such an odd spot. I’ve driven past it a dozen times and had no idea it was there.

This place is why you go to a locally-​owned hardware store instead of a big box chain. Every time I walk in with a problem they help solve it instead of vaguely pointing at an aisle. The selection is great and the prices are reasonable.
I could go on, but this what you need in a hardware store.

Friendly and helpful staff. More than willing to give pricing over the phone. Usually not too busy so you are in and out pretty quick. Lots of parking.

I try to stay away from the big box stores and shop local as much as I can. Falk Ace Hardware makes it very easy for me to do that. I’ve been known to make 3 – 5 trips in one day when working on projects. Even if I’m working on something custom, and if the store isn’t too busy, the shop keeps will lend a hand on coming up with ideas on how to put together components to make my ideas come to fruition. Also, my 5 year old son never misses a chance to tag along an pick up a bag of complimentary air popped popcorn :) It’s as close to the hardware stores of yesteryear that I can imagine they would have been like.

The people who work here are super friendly and helpful, and I totally dig on the pricing for most things. Had to buy some crazy glue, and wire for a chemistry project, it probably totaled about $ 10 for ~25ft wire and crazy glue. Then we remembered I needed a key copied and it’s far cheaper here than somewhere like
Fred Meyer. This place is great!

Just a great «ma and pa» feeling hardware store. The way it used to be. Friendly folks and one-​on-​one service. They answer questions without making you feel like an idiot.

Great selection and friendly, helpful service. I went in yesterday for the first time, and described what I needed using hand gestures and the word ‘thingy” (I’m not the most handy) — and was led quickly to exactly what I needed. This item came in several finishes and quality-​levels, and he asked questions to make sure I got what I wanted and never tried to up-​sell me. Nice.
I’ll go here in the future over a big box store anyday.

This is an old-​fashioned hardware store that stocks mostly tools and consumable parts and products, such as fasteners and paints. It does not boast big displays of plumbing or electrical fixtures, nor does it offer kitchen remodels or an acre of nursery stock.
However, if you’re looking for hardware and you cannot find what you want at the big box «category killers,» you may well find it here. You might even save some time by looking here first.

Awesome hardware store. I used to live down the street from one in LA before it closed and I was sad.
So this time I was happy to go to another ACE for some help. I arrived and was greeted immediately by the cashier and then by a worker who asked what I needed and proceeded to help me find what I needed.
The only loss of star is for the $ 2 limit on the card rule, I get it, but it still sucks, though I can’t complain I came out of there with a hex bit and some kit-​kat candy for 2.50, star back on!
